- Dochtuir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+55I just impressed that some people managed to pry themselves away from the game long enough to actually go queue for the thing.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Nah, they just picked the expansion on their way back from their regular Cheeto and Mountain Dew run.
- pipdip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23I don't play WoW, but if that first chick likes it... then I like it then too.
- RiemannLebesgue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21As a gay man, I don't really see anything homophobic in WoW. I haven't played it in a long time though, so maybe I missed it. Please tell where this homophobic content is to be found.
- garg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20To everyone replying to anicejew... It's not worth it. Block and move on.
- tapo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Unexpected hit game with 8 million subscribers paying $15 a month comes out with an expansion pack that's on track to becoming the best selling expansion of all time.
I'd say that deserves a few Digg submissions. - brak2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13"your just to dumb to write the english language."
I must say, this is awesome. - aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"These games employ humor in them that is not only racist and homophobic"
Huh? Are you serious? - justingivens, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"the games themselves are unhealthy and encourage lifestyles of laziness and antipathy."
No, they're not. People take the games to such extremes that they become unhealthy and lead themselves into a lifestyle of laziness and antipathy. The game doesn't encourage anything. - crazyechidna83, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12damn not everyone who plays WoW is a fat lazy addict w/ no life.
- SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Oh, I left the house alright, but the angry God of Irony nearly struck me down for doing it.
On the way to the Wal-mart at 11:30pm to pick up a copy of the expansion, I hit an entirely unexpected patch of ice on a highway bridge and slid sideways down the road a while before finally plowing into a ditch. I sat there with my cell phone in hand for a good hour, waiting on the wrecker to show up, while my hazard lights slowly started dimming and eventually just died (along with the car battery). Finally, the wrecker showed up, pulled my car out of the ditch and jump-started it. Luckily, both myself and the car were fine, so I drove onward to the Wal-mart, where an idiot redneck proudly informed me that the expansion had sold out in a solid 5 minutes.
Now, I understand an addiction, but this is Texas. I wasn't aware anyone who was from Texas was ever informed about the Internet's existence at all. You would think any state with that much exposure to information would at least lean just slightly toward the political left, but somehow they have defied that logic and used the Internet all this time, completely oblivious to the repeated failings of their once governor, and loving as much as everyone else one of the most addicting games I've ever played. Who knew...
I ended up snagging a copy from the Gamestop around noon the next day, but the whole ordeal taught me an important lesson: the real world is dangerous. You would be much safer just sitting on the Orgrimmar bank the rest of your life than if you ever got in your car at all. So don't blame me, socialites, when your plane crashes or your car flips and it sends you rushing straight to hell (for digging Richard Dawkins)...I could've told you to just stay home and play WoW. :) - e6d5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9> So, being the dutiful and devoted husband that I am I ventured forth to the midnight opening of Electronic’s Boutique to pick up our pre-ordered copy for my wife. (I’m not touching that crap anymore!)
Was he referring to the preordered copy or her wife? - MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8http://www.duggmirror.com/
- PurpleSfinx, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14All you people calling WoW players "losers" and "nerds" need to get a life.
People spend their time doing something they enjoy with friends, and you come on a website to group them all together, simplify their lives and insult them? You waste your lives away insulting people you don't know over something they have every right to do.
YOU are the pathetic people here. YOU are the ones wasting your lives away.
And even if 1/100th of WoW players are "fat slobs" or "pathetic nerds", how the hell does it concern you? What the hell does it matter to you if John Smith likes to spend 18 hours a day playing a game? Nothing. So shutup.
The reason I took the time to make this comment was because I actually have something relevant to say. The only reason there aren't more comments like mine is because people who don't think like you idiots are off doing something worthwile. Yes, that can include World of Warcraft.
(I'm not talking to everyone on Digg by the way, just the idiots. Also, sorry if this was a double post, I thought I posted it but it didn't seem to apppear.) - leonwehttam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6god i cant stand that all they ever say is all these nerds have no life, most people who play do have a life and only play a couple hours a day after work, just like any other video game its a stress reliever after working all day.
- djphatjive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10My friend plays WOW, he is a fat ***** and I haven't seen him in a year.
- Barr08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"best selling expansion? lol
i guess you never heard of brood wars."
Well, lets see here.
According to Wikipedia, SC and SC:BW has sold 9.5 million copies in it's lifespan, combined. Since you need a copy of SC to play the game, the most BW could have possibly sold is 4.75 million copies (half of the total number), and thats assuming (incorrectly) that everyone with SC bought BW.
WoW has sold 8 million copies. The predicted numbers were for at least 90% of those subscribers to upgrade to the expansion. 90% of 8 million is 7.2 million, considerably more than the most BW could have possibly sold.
/Bored at work - valkyries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4damn that first pic, all i gotta say is
niiiiiccccceeeee - Iroxorsju, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So what you guys are saying is. The guy that sits on digg.com all night criticizing people is making more of his life then a guy playing WOW chatting with people? That makes allot of sense.
- onthepunt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5he isnt a non-gamer.. he just doesnt play WoW himself anymore..
- MeatBiProduct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4prolly get 2 things - jack and *****.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I used to play WOW. I have since decided to use this time earning real dollars, and things I can actually use. My life is a brighter place now.
- Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know why people are digging this guy down. His second point is not too far from the truth. I will never attempt to play on an RP server again.
- heretik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WoW! Image Shack Sucks.
- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3All I could do while reading it was remember "Mom!!....Mom!!! Hot....pockets!!"
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Having never attended a midnight release for a game I was quite unsure what I was in store for. However, I knew full well it should be epic."
Pun. - ch3zyp00fs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://duggmirror.com/gaming_news/The_Burning_Crusade_Midnight_Release_Line/
With working pictures. - skryingbreath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I knew somebody would blog about me!
- SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2is he even still considered a friend.
- mroboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The 2nd picture is someone I've known for a while from way back in eq1. Mrs. "C" is what she is know to all her guild friends and a fun loving person she is!
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll agree with the too expensive and too time consuming parts of that. But you have to be the right (or wrong) type of person to become addicted to an MMO.
- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't stop laughing at the juxtaposing pictures XD XD
- killdashnine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What is idiotic is that Blizzard just doesn't offer a download. It'd be a hell of a lot easier than watching a bunch of nerds scramble over one another to essentially get a digital "hard copy" of the game (but not so much fun!).
- Misfitpierce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I played the first one and it was alright... Decided to buy at Best Buy because I saw like 400 just sitting there. Bought it and it is a bit better than the first one. The added char's are pretty nice and new places are a plus
- DroidBlender, on 09/18/2008, -1/+3do tell, I can't possibly imagine what a 12 year older has got to say...
- danjal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I must confess i was one of those who got up early to get it, tho i was also the 'nerdy couple' its true that you can have a gf and play world of warcraft, fact its quite simple when you just keep in mind two things a) it's only a game & b) it will still be there when you logg out.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think a lot of the lines were for the collectors edition, which was worth it, IMO. Blizzard puts together some really nice collectors editions.
- SyDIGG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She looks like a shorter, younger version of Christina Brinkley.
- AngryOx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I went to the target and the best buy in the shopping center a few miles down the road and there were over 50 copies between those two stores. So if anyone needs a copy come to Asheville, NC.
- elitexero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And about 3 million people didn't go anywhere, they just paid with a credit card and was off with it. And it's not like there was any shortage either. Idiots don't know when and what to camp for. I camped for a Wii, and still people are having trouble finding them, Ive had one all along. With this expansion, there wasn't any shortage.
And seriously, what 'reporter' hosts their images at photoshack?? - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got off work at 11:30 pm, got in line at 12:30 am and it took about an hour to get my copy. I was the very last person in Eugene, OR to get Burning Crusade on opening night. Don't know what it means, but there it is.
- drmangrum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If your a "gamer" then MMO's are actually far cheaper than the alternative. Before i discovered MMO's I was paying $50 every 2 weeks or so for a new xbox/ps2 game. The 15/month for an MMO is chump change in comparison.
- ejan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'll admit, it can get pretty expensive, but $15 for a months worth of gaming is worth it in my opinion. Most that you have to pay 4 times as much for don't last nearly that long. It is kind of a waste of time, but not much more than any other game. It can be addicting, but not to anyone who can prioritize their lives. In the end, though, it's probably best not to start.
- schildkroeter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1true... why don't you post em to flickr, where pics don't run out of bandwidth after two hours!
- mordea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's from Blizzcon :S.
- misstarah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know why there wasn't a downloadable option, either. The whole installation was under five minutes. A download would have been fine for me. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait in line, as I am one of those lucky girls who guilted her man into going to get it for me.
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bunch of people were bragging about getting the CE in some groups I often raid with. I pointed out that 30 extra dollars seemed like a lot for the same game. They went on about the maps and little metal figures, etc. I told them I didn't need more crap laying giving my girlfriend more reasons to hate WoW.
- piwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lol standing in line for a copy? i was offered a copy yesterday when i bought WoW. Store was dead empty with a ***** of Burning Crusade copy's on the shelf.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Waited in line for hours at CC then BB, all sold out of CE, went to lovely Walmart, bought 2 :D
- Zeush8su, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Unfortunately the pics are not from the line at EB. Some other type of nerdy convention and btw the hot chick is probably a booth babe.
