- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -2/+84Indeed. The 2006 picture appeared to be edited.
From kamesanjo's post: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/84/Tekken6.jpg
Still not the same quality as the 2005 picture, but better then the edited 2006. - Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+85This must be the famous "Photoshop Engine" I've been hearing about.
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+65Yeah, but Sony also likes to lie. Motostorm is a perfect example.
- Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60That was just what they call a Target Render.
The "target" in this case was Sony's foot. - Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+52No, you're just not looking at it right. PS3 has 4-D technology--the first 3 D's are just average, but the fourth D is where the magic's at.
- chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+37Target renders are *****. Its just a way of fooling the ***** with IQs lower than five.
- darthsnoopy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+42@riceree - The madden renders were claimed to be 'next gen' by EA, not MS. As far as I've seen, MS has actually been dead on with thier tech demos, and what they've shipped (on the first Xbox the target was the 'raven demo', which they far surpassed - http://youtube.com/watch?v=-FGeqomYUyU)
Seems the trend is:
Sony - Overpromise, underdeliver
MS - Deliver on promise
Nintendo - Underpromise, Overdeliver
I'll take the companies with integrity..ftw - kamesanjo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26full picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tekken6.jpg
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Wow, looks as if someone altered the posted screenshot because the wikipedia one is vastly more detailed.
- Rickard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I find this screenshot a bit disturbing: http://danieldematteis.wordpress.com/files/2006/05/gr.image.jpg
- itachi01, on 10/12/2007, -24/+41hmm thats kinda gay that they can't back up what they said about the graphical power of ps3
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Agreed then, this story is total FUD and it is everyone's duty (fan or not) to report this story INACCURATE.
- jackieboy37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16at least they'll be able to port it to gamecube now
- Kwipper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I believe that day is today. How many people do you know actually thought that the footage shown in 2005 was actual in-game footage? I mean people were questioning it when they first saw it. There was a lot of doubt too. Fast forward to today and see how the PS3 is currently doing against the competition. I think people have stopped being fooled by Sony's Hype Machine.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16wait wait wiat, no magical elf? well how the hell DO the fans spin?
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Wow, but it doesn't surprise me.
- Charlesbian, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17at least we have killzone 2 to look foward too!!
oh wait..... - netferret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14The fact that you have the same pic as me on your profile is as well. I thought someone had hacked my account for a split second there.
- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Holy crap, the Wii could run that!
- jayfarer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Some day, we will stopped being fooled by these tactics year after year.
Some day. - ferretfur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13This could cause some sort of black hole.
- chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Wow, Sony (and their "allies") pass off pre-rendered footage as in game. Go figure.
- ferretpants, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12My God that's depressing...
- suavo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11They also touted that Killzone trailer as all in-game and real then the development studio for the game claimed it was all cg.
same ***** happened with the ps2... them fanboys sure like being fed with ***** and spitting it out too. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Also, on the wiki page it states clearly:
"Gameplay screenshot taken from Tekken 5:Dark Ressurection on PS3" - a0me, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I'm not trying to defend SCEI in any way (the PS3 has been nothing but an embarrassment so far) but
the original Xbox is not able to run a game with the graphic quality shown in the "Two To Tango" render.
Looking at games like Gears, I guess the Xbox 360 could but not the Xbox. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I find it strange that Fight Night: Round 3 has graphics that are nearly equivalent to the 2005 picture. It's just two characters fighting in a small, enclosed arena. If Tekken doesn't look like Fight Night, or even surpass it, that just shows laziness and incompetance on the part of Namco.
- Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Thanks inbred, I couldn't possibly imagine the graphics were that horrible.
Though it doesn't surprise me in the least they aren't as good as 2005 showed. - K111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Even looking at the full series of pictures, Dead or Alive 4 looked better than this more than a year ago. Is there a SINGLE game the PS3 has or is going to have that supports Sony's argument that it's more powerful than the 360? Everything we see, and everything we hear, says otherwise.

http://xboxmedia.gamespy.com/xbox/image/article/651/651410/dead-or-alive-4-20050916054335192.jpg - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10the raven demo? No the xbox couldn't handle it. And so now why cant MS be blamed for s render done by EA when Sony is being blamed fo a render done by namco?
- TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Weren't these just demos? The first image I know is thought to be Tekken 6, but the second image looks more like Tekken 5: DR. I've seen both videos, and I doubt either one is Tekken 6 though the first image is more likely in my opinion. Hate to be Sony if Tekken 6 looked like a Tekken from a previous generation.
- Myonosken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I meant that at the idiot one above me, not the guy who mentioned sony.
- piratearggghhh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Next up...Killzone.
- BrownV, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Of course thats what Sony does...and has always done. Why I am officially off the Sony bandwagon. Tired of the smoke swiring in my bo bo
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The summary says "Gameplay screenshot taken from Tekken 5:Dark Resurrection on PS3.".
So what the hell is it?
If it's really Tekken 6 then it's definitely the worst looking one I've seen on PS3 thus far and I own the system.
Edit: Also OpCzar...thanks for pointing that out because I couldn't agree more. Look at the hair, whoever submitted/created the thing obviously blurred a lot of features out...even though the SS still looks pretty bad, whoever created that image is pretty lame. - combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The color in the "bad" picture is modified, giving it a flatter look than the game would actually have. To actually believe that the 2005 picture is real is about the equivalent of thinking that a magical elf is insider your console, spinning all the fans for you. Renders of that quality take many hours per frame to do. I highly doubt that the PS3 could outperform all the computers at Pixar and Dreamworks, and render in real-time what takes them hours and sometimes days.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was about to say the same thing ilyag. The characters on fight night display very similar visual polishes that are in the 2005 picture. Things like sweat, soft shadows, pores. I don't see why any studio worth their salt couldn't make Tekken look like that (Remember: we're using EA as the standard here.)
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Why are people trying the bury the person that actually shows the REAL UNEDITED picture? True is doesn't look like the 2005 footage, but it doesn't look like the horrid PS2 craptactular picture we are presented as the "real deal" from the article above. I agree, buried, inaccurate.
- fupresti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am on my first XBOX 360 and it works fine. Everyone I know who has one is on their first console. Maybe your friends are retards?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"At E3 in 2006 another trailer was shown with graphics that didn't appear to match the quality of the demo from the previous year but appears to be an early concept of what's to come in terms of gameplay rather than graphics. The trailer depicted Jin and Lili fighting in a church, before being interrupted by Hwoarang crashing through a stained glass window on his motorcycle."
-Wikipedia
maybe the video this screenshot came from is just for showing the gameplay, not the graphics. - rasty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yea, doctoring the originally posted image is just plain stupid since the actual one would have had the same effect, while now the story loses credibility.
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"I dunno, Square make great pre-rendered stuff, but compare any of the FF titles to games like oblicion or GOW and they knock square stuff for 6."
What? I agree you need to like the RPG genre to enjoy the FF games, but their storytelling and gameplay are top notch stuff. There's a reason they've sold so well, and while Gears of War and Oblivion are great games, they by no means replace Final Fantasy. - Chrissilvanet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I just downloaded tekken 5 and it looks way better than this ***** "in game footage"...and for christ's sake tekken 5 was practically a psp port!!!
- hexdump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Do not underestimate the power of Playstation." Oh... That was the 1994 launch slogan. My bad.
- jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hahaha yup... its says tekken 6 on the damn trailer....
early build or not..its looks like next-gen poop. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20061208/tk502.htm

I agree. - plastek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How is this news? I figured people knew the game companies did this.
Usually they will show a cut scene, or cinema to show off a games graphics, even though the game play looks nowhere near as good.
I'd say this has been a common practice dating back to the Sega CD, maybe longer! - Rickard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ooh, somebody's pissed because he blew $600 on a glorified toaster.
- Brett, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@Rickard
Would you find it less disturbing if she had no underwear at all? - kahjah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2all i have to say is AFRICA
