- wild, on 12/10/2007, -3/+44I find it hard to swallow that a company that has sold millions of copies of a game is in financial trouble from one of gaming's biggest franchises. I would gander it has more to do with other games failing than GTAIV being delayed.
- nsummy, on 12/10/2007, -0/+33If 3D Realms can stay in business for 10 years without releasing Duke Nukem forever, then certainly Take-Two can survive a few months!
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -1/+32The company's current assets (that is excluding all of its physical assets like real estate, fixtures and fittings and all that) stood at $435,961,000 on July 31.

Buried as inaccurate. The company is posting losses, yes, but this really, really isn't a rarity in the games industry at the moment. - terminal157, on 12/10/2007, -0/+29Oof. I hope they don't release it before it's ready because of this.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -3/+32How about both of you stop spouting unsubstantiated crap and realise that no one has ever spoken about why the game was delayed. I'd wager on it being simply because it isn't finished yet on EITHER platform.
- ShooterMcGavin, on 12/10/2007, -0/+26Well, they can plan on my money once they release... I guarantee it.
- PunkRockRalph, on 12/10/2007, -0/+25they're running out of money? i'll invest.
- rabidmonkeys, on 12/10/2007, -18/+35The delay was because of the PS3 unstable frame rate. Read before you post...
- beantime, on 12/10/2007, -4/+18Yeah, that's why the stock just went up 5% today.
*rolls eyes* - logicalnoise, on 12/10/2007, -2/+15the quote gets taken out of context everytime time some jackass quotes it. Take 2 said both platforms presented a lot of challenges and only mentioned the DVD format as ONE example.
- MasterPlayer, on 12/10/2007, -0/+12This game is basically an investment for Take Two, which I am positive will pay off since GTA is one of the biggest game franchises. I'm sure GTA3 cost them a lot to make since they had to design the whole engine, sounds and various other stuff, which they had to do less of, and spend less money on for Vice City and San Andreas. Since this is GTA's first next gen outing, it will be more expensive to make, but I'm sure the next two games will use a lot of the same resources as this one, meaning it will cost less money to make. Also, the sequels to GTA 4 will sell more than GTA 4 since there will be a larger userbase on the 360 and PS3 when they come out.
- hockey, on 12/10/2007, -0/+12You just described over 90% of the internets.
- cardyology, on 12/10/2007, -5/+16Blame teh wii cos it "suxx0rz" apparantly.
- gamerzworld, on 12/10/2007, -2/+12Buried as inaccurate. Take2 just announced some months ago that they has secured more funding.
- Sle3per, on 12/10/2007, -2/+12Stock price movement is not directly related to the current standings of a company.
- fani, on 12/10/2007, -2/+9Actually I really enjoyed not just GTA Series, but also Manhunt, Midnight Club and Table Tennis. I for one, supported them by buying all these. Plus I bought GTA on PS2, Xbox and PC for friends/nephews.
- NinjaBoy, on 12/10/2007, -4/+11One of the deciding reasons for me to buy a 360.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -2/+7You + English = fail.
- fkr3, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5I'm not worried. It's not like they aren't still making money off their other games, and it's not like at absolute worst-case scenario they couldn't borrow against the success of GTA IV anyway.
- deadnoob, on 12/10/2007, -1/+6they will be fine, i know plenty of people who are going to buy a console for this game.
- WaveyRavey, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4Thats not what they said..... They said that if GTA doesnt release in a timely fashion, they may struggle. They didnt say it was because of GTA.
- banz23, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4I wouldn't take that article on the thestreet.com at face value. Here is the real story: thestreet.com is partially owned by Rocker Partners, L.P. which is a hedge fund run by David Rocker. David Rocker is a well know stock shorter who currently holds an extremely large short position in Take-Two. By holding a short position he makes money when the stock prices decreases and has a vested interest in seeing the share price of Take-Two go down. This article was published after the shares of Take-Two increased about 14% in a week and the same day that the stock was upgraded by Kaufman to a buy.
You should review previous articles on theStreet.com and chart it against Take-Two's stock price. You will see that whenever Take-Two's stock has run-up in price that an article is published suggesting that Take-Two is about to go under. Currently Take-Two is in excellent financial shape due to Bioshock and the surprise hit Carnvial Games.
Well I just wanted to make you aware of the theStreet.com's bias. If you can't tell I do own stock in the company, so I follow the company very closely and obviously am also biased. - dronkmunk, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4Ooooh Boy! Here we go!
- davidbattley, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4If they ever look like going bust I'm sure Ms or sony would buy them up and take them exclusive. That could well be a massive blow blow to the loser in the console wars. I 'm the knock on effects of selling more conslose by having GTA exclusive to a brand would would rely push the price up. But I guess the content of the games would make Microsoft a little wary. Every time there was a new one released you'd get people (the anti-video game lobbyists)boycotting all Micrsoft products until they pulled it something rockstar need not worry about at present (they only make video games. maybe Worth a gamble for sony perhaps.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4I don't know, i'm not too optimistic about the title. All three trailers suffer from severe framerate issues. I'm not sure if that's how the actual game is, or if it's just the video (because a lot of game trailers look like they'll play like crap, but end up playing with no issues at all).
- gamerzworld, on 12/10/2007, -1/+5EA ruins everything they get their hands on.
- zdiddy85, on 12/10/2007, -2/+6Why does every single article about GTA have to have some fanboy saying what system they'll be getting? Trolls, I tell you, trolls...
- NJank, on 12/10/2007, -3/+7at least they don't have a history of pushing something out the door and taking shortcuts on removing extraneous game material and footage... oh wait...
- Ricky8765, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4I noticed that. At first I thought it might just be my connection stuttering, but if that's really the typical framerate I hope these next few months are spent ironing that out.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3prove that he described "90%" of teh internets
- TeagueSterling, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis should be able to carry them alone. You haven't played a table tennis game till you've played it Rockstar Games style.
- darkchild82, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3Big deal ! Take Two is always in some sort of finacial trouble. Rockstar is in a position to take one of the most valuable franchises to any publisher even if T2 goes under. they have nothing to worry about.
- truespector, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3Didn't they say the first trailer was rendered on the 360?
- darlyn, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3I say we all invest some money (seriously, I want IV.)
- Mejogid, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2However stock price is affected at some level by the current standing of a company, since that has a direct influence on the company's perceived profitability and potential for growth. Obviously there are other factors involved, but if a company is likely to go under within a month then that will be visible in its stock price, and an increase in stock price is rarely reflective of a company that's struggling for existence (unless share holders have something to gain from liquidation).
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Prove it.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -2/+4Meh, they will sell the license and it will all be fine and well.
- aelias, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Take Two has plenty of money. Like, San Andreas money. Buried.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2he doesn't
- Christbait, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2I dunno, but it's hardly surprising given how Manhunt 2 has been delayed because of the controversy and I would bet that they were riding on that to get a little cash flow. Oh well, they can always sell out to EA... and in that case they just lost a customer who was ready to do anything to play GTA4 apart from put any more money in EA's pocket.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -1/+3Funny to read though, I dugg you both up.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Invest in me
- DarkShroud, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Yes, and this is probably the first time I've ever dugg one of your comments.
- Tactis, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1at least they had bioshock this year, otherwise they would have been totally screwed.
- gamerzworld, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3VOTE RON PAUL 08!!1...Oh wait....
OMGOMGOMGOMG MAC's ROCK!111!1..Wait....
Oh never mind. Digg confuses me. - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Pirate FTW
- Dracusis, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1How can the company with a hit like Bioshock in their very recent past be in any financial difficulty?
Perhaps this generation of console/PC gaming has a slower uptake than most thought. -
