- notque, on 08/18/2008, -1/+67If EA buys take two, they will destroy the rest of their sports competition. The intention is to limit the choice by consumers, and to own a monopoly like they created by buying the agreement with the NFL for football.
Ever since that agreement, Madden has gotten worse, and is littered with bugs that wouldn't have seen the sun before. Maybe it's a coincidence, but Madden 09 is horrible. It freezes, franchise is broken. The entire game is a mess.
And there are no other options.
Take Two has the best basketball game ever created, hands down. NBA2k. If EA buys take two, you can say goodbye to that game as well.
It's about profit, not quality. - Panzwhore, on 08/19/2008, -1/+55At what point can EA be considered a monopoly?
- drcreek, on 08/18/2008, -2/+50Goodbye GTA.
- Falldog, on 08/19/2008, -1/+36EA is an infectious disease. Everything they touch becomes bug ridden and weak.

You only help them buy feeding the beast. - AnthonyC, on 08/19/2008, -1/+23Is it immoral to pirate EA games?
- 42Vindictive, on 08/19/2008, -1/+20No... No it's not.
But god help you if you pirate a Bioware or Bethesda game. - kaintehdragoon, on 08/19/2008, -0/+18:(
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/19/2008, -1/+18Hahaha my friend. You make me laugh! America doesn't care about monopolies anymore! Look at AT&T and Comcast! They have bought almost all their competitors out! Remember USA Cable, Bell South, Nextel etc? Yeah bought out.
- AussieJames, on 08/19/2008, -0/+14NOOOOO!!!!!!!
- TimDigg, on 08/19/2008, -0/+11"Soon it will just be EA, Activision and a third force
EA's got maxis,DICE,Criterion, westwood,pandemic, harmonix and bioware
Activision's got bizzarre creations, treyarch, red octane, raven software, neversoft, Infinity Ward and blizzard
I predict a Ubisoft, Take Two, Valve merger..."Take Valvesoft"..." - Timdigg from a few weeks ago
Looks like I predicted wrong. Damn, maybe Valvesoft is still a possibility. EA is getting too big... - azbmr, on 08/19/2008, -1/+12Sure, right after Spore!
- ethanpack, on 08/19/2008, -0/+11Re: GTA vs The Sims - I would probably play that...
- NexusV2, on 08/19/2008, -0/+10Don't worry, when they bring the PC version we'll have:
GTA IV: Free time
GTA IV: Ikea stuff
and great features that let you design Nicos apartments. :) - McDeath, on 08/19/2008, -0/+9For ***** sake EA, stop eating up the competition!!! Because afterward you'll use their studios to create nothing but trash.
- Claypool741, on 08/19/2008, -0/+8Welcome to the new downfall of video games
- nymphetamine, on 08/19/2008, -1/+9Nah, that just means there'll be a new one every year, just like Madden. And we all know how awesome Madden is, right?
- Scrappy1850, on 08/19/2008, -0/+8GTA vs The Sims

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! - Midtowner, on 08/19/2008, -0/+7When they say they're just "maximizing the value for the shareholders," you have to realize it's over. It's not a question of "if" anymore, but "how much." Too bad.
- PizzaPops, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6:'(
- andypop481, on 08/19/2008, -1/+7but... red alert 3! it could still be good! it could! it... could.
*tear* - ndiderrich, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6If Take 2 sells out then you know the gaming industry is going to *****, oh why!
- amenic, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6I agree - EA is by far the WORST publisher in terms of corporate bottom lines and deadlines and are more than willing to sacrifice quality to get there.
Also, their support for their games is atrocious. Once they have your money, they spend minimal time supporting the product and typically just focus on the next revenue generating iteration of the same product / franchise and focus their resources on that (leaving the game open to balance issues, bugs, etc.). This is usually in the form of an expansion pack for say an RTS or an annual rendition of a sports title.
By comparison, you can look at a publisher like say, Vivendi Univsersal (Blizzard, Valve). Renown and top notch product support (without additional cost typically - except WoW). You need not look any further than Counter-strike and Starcraft for examples of this (more than likely TF2 will become the next long running Valve franchise).
There's no other publisher out there that I would rather NOT see get my hard earned cash go to than EA Games. They are as close to creating an assembly line for mediocre video games as anyone in the industry has ever come.
"CHALLENGE NOTHING" you greedy bitches! - Planets, on 08/19/2008, -1/+7If people quit buying games because of their low quality, EA wouldn't still be around.
- Xivx, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5Bioware is owned by EA
- kirado4, on 08/19/2008, -2/+7hmm want to see Take two games get pirated to *****.. sell your company to EA... good bye the last of the creative games..
- phoenixshard, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5GTA IV is the first GTA I've actually had any interest in playing all the way through. All the rest of them had abysmal shooting system. With IV, there were enough improvements that it kept me wanting to play it.
- hark659, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5Don't buy EA games, download it.
- chaos7, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5don't buy red alert 3..just wait for starcraft 2.
- ddesantis8, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5When did either AT&T or Comcast buy Nextel? I'm pretty sure Sprint bought Nextel.
- Kanten, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4Honestly, this doesn't come anywhere close to the total rage I felt at the Bioware acquisition.
- dalittle, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5EA is still around, because they buy companies with a good product and run it into the ground till no one wants it anymore (a la Command and Conqueror style). If they were not able to buy any more companies, they wouldn't still be around. If you like GTA it is in your interest for EA to not buy Take Two.
- Iggins, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4*****.
- 1807, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4look at the ***** job they did on the battlefield series. I quit playing after BF2
- cubicledrone, on 08/19/2008, -3/+7Layoffs layoffs layoffs.
No matter how smart you are, how many successes you have, how much money you have made for the company, you WILL LOSE YOUR JOB if middle or upper management has the ability to fire you. Want proof? Two words: Disney animators. Have a nice day. - keepinithamsta, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4More like hello Bioshock 5 in 2012.
- G00SEISL00SE, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4yea gta2009 cant wait cant wait for the the sound update its only gonna be 5 dollars extra. Crazy amounts of downloadable content.
- Manhunt545, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5Goodbye to Bioshock 2. That will be turned into a water down T rated game
- Brew, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4Sigh.....the sad part is EA games use to be a good company that made quality games once upon a time, sort of like, you know, Take2 now. But, then everything became about their bottomline and buying smaller developers to do ten spinoffs of the Sims franchise.
- notque, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4It has nothing to do with hating EA. I have the game, and have the game developers on my Xbox live. The lead developer? yep. Talk to him.
Want to hear a fun bug in Madden? I can direct snap to a wide receiver. Try finding a defense to defend against that. (it will be fixed in the next patch in.. September probably) - hurricanewane, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4Good games require a "when it's done" approach to get the quality and gameplay the way it should be.
EA says "every ***** year no matter if it's ready or not and we'll call it *insert game name*-*insert next year*!" - kinseyincanada, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3you mean games like Spore, SKATE, Dead Space, Rock Band Mirrors Edge.....i understand the hate for EA sports games but EA does release good games.
- chaos7, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3i soooo agree with you!!!!
- tendonut, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Or Valve, or Blizzard, or hell, lets throw in The Adventure Company (I love point and click adventures)
- videogamedieter, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Cant wait for Grand Theft Auto '09, '10 and '11!
Gonna be amazing! - dronkmunk, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Wait, am I the only one who read this article? It seems like they Take-2 is just stringing EA along like they always have been...
And EA is letting their offer expire so what the hell - TimDigg, on 08/19/2008, -1/+4Please bury this comment!!
- mikeyeah, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Take Two in the ass?
