- sofaKing812, on 10/12/2007, -8/+165Online play would make my Wii feel "very complete".
- Butt3rs, on 10/12/2007, -14/+57This game will my my Wii collection 'Very Complete'
- Adma1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45super smash melee brothers?
- kevlarbaboon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38SSMB was just hands down the best multiplayer game I've played. I've lost plenty of hours with my friends playing that game. with online play, this will be the game that gets me to shell out for a Wii.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Trauma Center. Good stuff.
My kids and I have been playing Super Paper Mario. A bit wordy at times, but an interesting challenge - and having my 2 year old run around the room going "Rowr!" like "Powpo!" (aka "Bowser") is cute. - Suchmann, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35This is a challenge. I play way too much smash bros.
If you're in the NYC area, message me... and we will arrange a duel. I will videotape it and put it on Digg.
I'm not joking. - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Yes.
I still play the cube version a lot... which doesn't make sense.
Smash Bros will be insane, because it's a mix of crazy fun and simplicity (yes, it can get complex, but you know what I mean... no 10-button combinations to do a special move!) which is exactly what is making the Wii a crazy success story, right now.
It's the kind of game that will keep that lil' white machine busy and not collecting dust... I cannot wait to get my hands on it, but still... everyday, I hope the announce some more 3rd party characters, so I guess I'm in for some disappointment, after all. - danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Thing is, Nintendo is under no pressure whatsoever to release this anytime soon. The Wii is selling like crazy, and there's no need to put a top-tiered product on the shelves until console sales begin to die down. Which isn't going to happen any time soon as the Wii continues to sell like hotcakes. Even if it is finished, it will continue to sit in what will probably be defined to us as "development" until November or December. Hopefully if that's the case, Nintendo can put in the effort over that extra time to do the online mode right.
- supremesonic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31People shouting "Dupe" when it comes to an upcoming story annoys me, because it really doesn't matter which one gets on the front page if the news is good.
When people shout that and then the upcoming story turns out to be their own... Well, it makes me want to stab their eyeballs out with a pair of rusty scissors.
I know that one was submitted before this one, but really, people have to learn Digg is about good content and not just a mad quest to get YOUR story on the front page. - tformed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27This game will be harder to find than a wii.
- Charron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23I think they're going with just classic/GC controller because they felt this is one of the sort of games that would be worse with Wii controls, or something like that. But no remote usage at all, from what I recall.
- jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22one word, Megaman
- jtizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16john is right, trauma center is the hot game.
My neighbors probably think I'm nuts yelling at my TV.... "Dammit, don't you die on me!!!" - SamuraiPanda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Whoever wrote this article needs serious work on understanding Japanese names...or copy/pasting.
The director of SSB is Masahiro Sakurai....not Masahiko Karai (How do you butcher it that bad?) - FinalFlash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18WHAAAAT!!!!!! HERETIC!!! it's a crime against video gaming to even THINK of removing Ness from a video game! There's war in the world because of people like you...
- tbartolucci, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"I think you guys need to actually TRY other games... or just get a life where you don't beat games in a day and need another one."
I'd agree with that statement. Zelda took me plenty of time to finish that I didn't even think about getting other games for quite some time. However, Trauma Center is great, Super Paper Mario is great. Sonic and the Secrete Rings was decent, definitely the best Sonic in years. I bought Madden 07 for the Wii and that's tons of fun. The last time I had football in the form of a video game was Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football. - LordVance, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16@mewtwo - your named after a friggen Pokemon and your bashing Nintendo?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17and some scissoring
- mdnash, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20and maybe some spartans
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13>> Are they finally getting rid of Ness?
He was a real finesse character. I'll bet you got your ass handed to you by that baseball bat and yo-yo quite a few times. - Lordpenguin007, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16As a Wii fan, Im dying for another good game besides Zelda.
- becomethesea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I want this game so bad :'(
- MrFatalistic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10This is THE game I got my Wii for (I know that's not a bold statement) but just saying, metroid, zelda, all side thoughts when looking at the next SSBM.
Particularly Zelda, I know everyone loves Zelda but it hasn't been the same for me since 16bit. My Wii thirsts *****, time for a quenching. - xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Thanks for the heads up. I corrected my mistake with the name. Sorry about that
- Broomie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I was hoping Sonic would make the cut, yet only time (and money) will tell and besides the fact we've got that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games coming up. Other than that, the game is looking to be one of the favourites on the Wii!
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11didn't get any here, and I have those extensions too.
maybe you should stop infecting your computer with spyware. - SamuraiPanda, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@betterth
1. Who the hell are you and why do you know who I am?
2. Sorry, you're wrong. You may be thinking about Chinese, which has different meanings for the same words with different intonations. Japanese is notoriously easy to write in English. Each of the symbols (Hiragana/Katakana, not kanji per se) can be, and often is, translated as just two letters each.
Masahiro Sakurai is exactly Masahiro Sakurai and nothing else. There is no other way to spell it, that is the correct spelling. The spelling is a fact that can't be interpreted differently.
I guess this is the part where I say you just got owned. - KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Mewtwo add 20 years to that.
28.. and have been a hardcore gamer since I was 3 and I got the Atari 2600.. and my older bros had the Colecovision. Went to a friends to play the Commodore 64 and California games, which was pretty different the the atari version. I had a Nes, Snes, Gameboy, gameboy pocket, gameboy color, gameboy advance, gameboy ds, playstation, playstation 2, with my older brother in the other room having a genesis, dreamcast and xbox, which I played much of before he moved out... and my other brother has a psp. I got a wii at launch and plan on getting a 360 soon. And of course some smash bros, madden, halo whenever at a friends or family members house. Now... what were you saying about casual gamer?
Sorry no, I am a big gamer who has a frigging life and would rather GO OUT WITH FRIENDS then play games. PLUS I HAVE A CAREER. And even when I am home that doesnt mean I must be playing games every single second I am home. That doesn't make me a casual gamer. That makes me frigging normal.
Playing games as your whole life and rather doing that then anything else doesnt make you a hardcore gamer. It makes you pathetic. - eneshelon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8throw in sonic characters, capcom characters, and that would be total icing!
- KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8mcatage... i sure am.. trying to finish superparermario and become don of nyc at the same time before spiderman 3 comes out.... So yea Im playin it a good amount... have been since launch... no lack of good games despite what everyone says.
- Shaflugi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wait, 8-player offline? Where did you hear that?
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You know you can play Gamecube games on the Wii. I just hope you didn't actually own a Wii, but still decided to buy a Gamecube. That wouldn't be too bright
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'd recommend Elebits and Super Paper Mario
- KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Zelda, Trauma Center, Warioware, Super Paper Mario, Godfather, Elebits, Marvel Alliance, Rayman, Wii Sports. All are good to great.
And the games I don't have but have gotten overall reviews of at least an 8... Madden (most agree to be the best version) and SSX Blur....
Spiderman coming out next week...
And there are others I also never played that my friends or family members have that they say are good or great but since the overall ratings are below 8 I won't include them (My nephew for instance thinks Red Steel is amazing, but I am pretty sure he is in the minority on that one.... Medal of Honor he also loves, but that has gotten on average reviews in the 7's)
Wanna know how many PS2 games I got since Wii came out? 1... God of War 2. GREAT GAME. But the only game I have been interested in on the Wii since November....
Getting an 360 once it goes down in price and GTA4 comes out... but besides that game and Gears of War nothing impresses me much.
PS3.. hahahahahah... resistance was hte only game that looked relatively good... then I played it at a friends and wasn't really impressed at all.
So yea... since November... I would say enough good to great games on wii, especially for a launch. Probably best launch of any console of the past few generations... and probably has the most good to great games in the past 6 months period. - konamicode, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Forgive my ignorance, but what is a "Snake Vs. Zombie event"?
- Psykus2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think they'd want to make it work with a Wii Remote / Nunchuk combo too, even though it wouldn't use the motion sensing/pointing. To put out a game for Wii that doesn't even work with the accessories that came with the system would be a bit risky I'd think.
- Tikkimann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Am I the only person who's excited about 8-player offline?
This is the end of the controller trade, where the loser no longer has to pass the controller to the other guys waiting. Now all the losers can play!
...Actually, that could be a problem... - SamuraiPanda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@betterth
Indeed, I must be wrong. I've only studied the Japanese language and culture for 8 years. Nothing at all. And that tutoring was worthless too. Those Japanese language contests I've won? Don't mean a thing. Oh and that major I got from the university ranked #1 in the nation for the Japanese language? Must mean *****.
Any first year Japanese student can tell you that Masahiro Sakurai can't become "Masahiko Karai" no matter how you write it in Japanese. And other than having long sounds to some of the names, there is honestly very little room to translate most names differently. Masahiro Sakurai can ONLY be translated like that. But a name that has a long sound to it, like Tooya, pronounced Toh-ya, due to the double O having a different sound in English, can be translated as Tohya or Touya. But other than that long sound, there are very few exceptions to the Japanese being notoriously easy to translate into English statement.
And guess what? The name Masahiro Sakurai doesn't contain any of those exceptions. I don't know why you're bothering to argue with me. Get your friends to do it instead so at least the person I'm talking to has some background other than "Oh, I asked some people."
And honestly, you say you're not a ***** loser, but you contact 2 people in a weak attempt to prove wrong a quick comment by a random digg user (who you apparently know about)? Sure you aren't. - KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8What is this no good games besides Zelda nonsense?!?!!? I got I believe 7 or 8 games... all of them either very good or great, and looking forward to Spidey 3 next week (supposed to be the most fun of all the versions)
I think you guys need to actually TRY other games... or just get a life where you don't beat games in a day and need another one. - saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Sonic too, but I think it's the kids who owned a genesis who mainly want him as a character."
I guess you missed it, but there's a crazy Sonic revival going on right now. My 6 year old is even more into Sonic than he is into Pokémon. - Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This will be awesome, I play SSBM on my wii almost every day. I hope motion AND gamecube controls are both options.
- Bega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I seriously can't wait. SSBM was probably the only console game I played continuously over the last 5 years.
- celchu33, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@ supremesonic
Agreed. If users here want to play a game, well, maybe they should look into Super Smash Bros. or something. - MewTwo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3no it wont
- SamuraiPanda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sakurai (the director) did say at the last E3 that they don't think they're including motion-sensing capabilities in the game, but he never said that they won't use the wiimote. In a post he did on the Japanese site awhile ago, he did mention that they may be adding a "gimmick" with the wiimote, leading me to believe that the motion sensing may become the new C-stick.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So, if it feels very very complete.... is Nintendo holding it back; like a post back in the day on digg mentioned that Nintendo is purposely spreading it's games out through-out the year to hold out the longivity for 2007 until 3rd party developers catch up with their games.
- djspike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I recently bought a GameCube JUST so i could play Super Smash Bro's Melee and Mario Kart Doube Dash.
- sikosmurf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I believe there will be the addition of "Super Smash" moves. Also, "a few new characters" is probably an understatement.
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That's why people usually reserve it.
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Speaking of which, is there anything new in next Super Smash Bros beside a few different characters? Any news on possible uses of Wiimote or will it just use the classic controller for the whole game?
