- Goodbyeworld, on 11/18/2007, -11/+276It may be the highest for now, but when Duke Nukem Forever comes out, the history books will be re-written.
- secretwhistle, on 11/18/2007, -5/+153By the time it comes out, the history books will have been re-written.
- inactive, on 11/18/2007, -28/+128Sorry, but The Legend of Zelda a link to the past pwns all
- Zachari, on 11/18/2007, -2/+76I'm just wondering how Mario breathes out there.
- freakk123, on 11/18/2007, -7/+61Y'know, regardless, Nintendo owns all. And if we really have to argue between a Zelda game and a Mario game I'm pretty happy.
- AriaStar, on 11/18/2007, -15/+63It's all personal opinion.
- DeathJux, on 11/18/2007, -5/+50After playing Galaxy for a few hours, it is the epitome of action/adventure games, especially in the 3D realm... it is one of the most glorious gaming wonders I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I don't know if it's the best "ever," as there are a lot of amazing games out there, but it is certainly one of the best.
- cecinestpasvrai, on 11/18/2007, -2/+43man, if only there was somewhere that had a listing of critiques that you could utilize!
- Luigison, on 11/18/2007, -0/+31Today Galaxy has a 97.8% and Ocarina a 97.6% average score, but Galaxy's lead is narrowing because yesterday they had 97.9% and 97.5% respectively. It's also important to note that since yesterday Ocarina has gained a review and Galaxy has lost one, and that Galaxy is currently losing in the GameRankings.com user vote. Other games like Halo 2 have previously beat Ocarina for a couple of days, but could not hold the title.
- AdverseEntropy, on 11/18/2007, -5/+34This has been said a thousand times, but these averages are NOT set in stone. Many more reviews will roll in, and Galaxy will drop back below OoT. This has happened many times. Sensationalism won't last forever.
- virtuality96, on 11/18/2007, -3/+26you should know by now that you are a douche and do not know sarcasim when you read it... PEACE
- badjoke, on 11/18/2007, -3/+25Peoples' reviews I don't really care about:
1. Yareking
2. Yareking
3. Yareking
4. Yareking
5. Yareking - 1b2a, on 11/18/2007, -2/+23Either you ***** suck at sarcasm, or you failed miserably at playing your mistake off.
- Quix, on 11/18/2007, -0/+20I'm hoping Duke Nukem Forever will be bundled with Sadness, Spore, and Starcraft: Ghost.
They can call it Vapor Box. - Sabin, on 11/18/2007, -2/+22If you think Nintendo has always been the underdog then you are obviously under the age of 20 and most likely born in the 90s.
- Ventolin, on 11/18/2007, -4/+23Kinda silly that the Orange Box is on there twice..
- 1b2a, on 11/18/2007, -4/+22RTFA, we all know that Link failed at beating Super Mario Galaxy.
- KungFuJesus, on 11/18/2007, -2/+19agreed, IMO it's way better than OoT
- vanza001, on 11/18/2007, -17/+33Galaxy is the best game of all time.
- Buddhist, on 11/18/2007, -1/+17I disagree, it's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
- vanza001, on 11/18/2007, -3/+19You are not playing the game I am. Galaxy owns 64. I've played nearly 100 stars now and it gets redunkulous.
- Shaflugi, on 11/18/2007, -1/+16People read reviews so they can get an idea of whether or not they want to buy the game. Not everybody here has the money or lack of responsibility to go buy any game without finding anything out about it.
- Goodbyeworld, on 11/18/2007, -2/+16Duke Nukem Forever lives.
- Elranzer, on 11/18/2007, -1/+15Released on the Phantom Console?
- 1b2a, on 11/18/2007, -5/+19By ***** you mean true, yes?
- opnickc, on 11/18/2007, -1/+14"It's the greatest game of all time for people who rarely play video games."
Game critics rarely play video games? - TiMMY8765, on 11/18/2007, -2/+13the number of diggs the parent post gets is the number of years until it comes out
- toefer, on 11/18/2007, -0/+11You should try Mario Teaches Typing.
- joeplayer91, on 11/18/2007, -5/+15galaxy eats babies
- BabyBrumak, on 11/18/2007, -5/+14Why aren't X-COM or Deus Ex on there? I can think of a lot of games that should rank more highly than half that list.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 11/18/2007, -6/+15I haven't played Galaxy, but... Is it really better than OoT?
- thebellmaster1x, on 11/18/2007, -1/+10It's really a useless comparison in that when OoT came out, it sort of revolutionized what console games were supposed to be. Galaxy is another 3-d Mario game, but that in no way overshadows that it's excellent. They're pretty much two different classes of games.
- TantrooM, on 11/18/2007, -1/+10Um.. it's too early to tell. There certainly have been more reviews done of OoT. Galaxy is only less then a month in. It'd be like calling the President election with only the East Coast having voting finishes... It's still too close to call and there are still unaccounted for results.
It could be in second again in a month or so. - kenkyomausu, on 11/18/2007, -2/+11I logged in just to digg you up! Good call!
- phort99, on 11/18/2007, -0/+9Out where? I thought it was just another shroom trip.
- 1b2a, on 11/18/2007, -9/+18Notice how the top 3 titles are from Nintendo for the last 3 systems; Nintendo has always been the best and the underdog.
- HappyScrappy, on 11/18/2007, -3/+11Nintendo always has great 1st party titles but not so good 3rd party titles.
- natastna2, on 11/18/2007, -1/+9The Duke is a lie.
- heartless_, on 11/18/2007, -0/+8The best part of this, Halo 3 is not on the list. Money may buy the big-name 10 out of 10 reviews, but it doesn't poison the entire industry.
- Aiwanei, on 11/18/2007, -4/+12The problem with metacritic is that doesn't have as many publications as gamerankings. according the meta critic it is 4th, but tony hawk 2 which is second past has 11 less reviews on metacritic then on gamerankings, Soul Calibur which is 3rd on meta critic has 3 less reviews on MC then GR and zelda ocarina of time which is 1st has 8 less reviews on MC then GR. So since meta critic has less reviews on some games, and game rankings has less reviews on others you really can't compare them very easily. I don't know if Galaxies is #1 but tony hawk pro skater 2 is definitely not #2 on mine nor most people's lists.
- Sroek, on 11/18/2007, -11/+19No surprise here, the Mario series is legendary. Anyone who thinks otherwise aren't true gamers.
- opticwind, on 11/18/2007, -6/+14Ok, great game, not best game of all time. Sorry, I did enjoy it, but it just wasn't as much fun as HL2 or OoT for me.
- loconet, on 11/18/2007, -1/+9You bastards. Stop with these news. I can't go buy it until exams are done. Mussssssttttttt Resssssssissssssttttt........
- cam2009, on 11/18/2007, -2/+10GameStats is in no way reliable or official. Remember it takes user reviews into account, also, so these kinds of reviews are included in the score weight: http://rr.www.gamestats.com/rrview/games/super_mar ...
GameRankings has it's flaws, too, and the recent obsession with handing out 10/10s could be a part of this, but they're definitely the most reliable. Either way, though, both OoT and Galaxy deserve to be in the top ten, and to not play Galaxy because it doesn't beat the game we've used as the benchmark for 10 years doesn't make any sense.
OoT is more emotional, but Galaxy is probably the most fun game I've ever played. People will have different tastes so we aren't going to agree on a definite list, but both have lived up to their names. - ZenMojo, on 11/18/2007, -0/+8Resident Evil 4 has 104 reviews. SMG has 30 reviews. Technically even Gamerankings is inaccurate if you consider a discrepancy in the number of reviews given as compared to the scores given.
SM64? 20 reviews. HL2? 93 reviews. Halo? 88 reviews. Metroid Prime? 92 reviews.
Gamerankings is a convenient way to get a pretty decent look at how well a game plays generally, but it's far from a definitive or even particularly cohesive accounting of how good a game is historically. - pdiddle, on 11/18/2007, -4/+12I have no idea how anyone can compare games like these when they each cater to a different genre. I recently got Galaxy and so far I'm only 45 stars into it but its a blast. The sheer number of things which make me smile. The classic music redone, 2d (similar to new super mario bros) and isometric 3d segments, the great boss battles. I can honestly see this being my favourite platformer of all time, however I couldn't compare it with a game like HL2 or OoT since they're just too different.
- diversionmary, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8About 9 stars in i was pretty confident that this was like playing a crazy person's imagination.
It's great! - badjoke, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8You need to not take the internet so seriously.
- fishx, on 11/18/2007, -1/+8I dunno, I put game reviews just a shade above movie reviews. I'll check them out, but I'll make up my own mind.
- Ajajadude, on 11/18/2007, -2/+9I prefer the opinion of millions of gamers over dozens of critics.
