- emil1212, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55You have to wonder why Blizzard is dragging their feet with the Starcraft franchise. I know they have a cash cow with WOW, but Starcraft came out in 1998! Diablo 2 came out in 2000 and I believe a sequal is in the works. I know for a fact that Starcraft was NOT a financial dud, so what's taking so long?
- SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40Blizzard is too busy counting the cash they're raking in from WoW to make any other games.
- 8177, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41I hope this shows Blizzard that making a Starcraft II will be worth it.
- Daiken, on 10/12/2007, -8/+44Meh...I'd play regular Stracraft over this 3D version.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -14/+44Im surprised Blizzard has allowed this and hasnt sued them off the face of the earth.
- IQis87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29ZERG RUSH KEKEKE!!!
- SkizotEnigma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Not to get in a giant rant about it.....
I am one of the leaders of Snowflake Entertainment, and we are doing EVERYTHING in our power to make this completely legal. We will not be distributing ANYTHING owned by blizzard. You will be REQUIRED to have both starcraft AND it's expansion, as well as warcraft3 and IT'S expansion to play it. all sounds and graphics will be copied over from your starcraft cd's to insure we are not pirating ANY copyrighted material.
As for your opinions on the graphics, the warcraft 3 engine is VERY limited in what we can and can't do without killing FPS. we are doing everything possible to ensure that graphics are the best possible while still allowing you to have as many units as possible.
If anyone has any comments etc ( preferably lawyers ) who might see a flaw with our plan please feel free to leave a comment. - FuzzyBunny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Riiiiiiiiiiiiight...
SC: Ghost is about as dead as a project can get. - chevymanusa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Starcraft is just about to turn 10. It is one of first programs I install when I build myself a new computer. You can still buy Starcraft and Broodwar @ your local bestbuy. You can't say that about many games, almost 10 years old and you still buy it. I really hope blizzard decides and follows thru with a SC2. And if you are reading this, blizzard, Please keep the map editor alive in SC2 don't remove it.

- Supurcell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22I, for one, welcome our new Zerg Overlords.
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Seriously, I still play Star Craft 1... why not make some money and sell a Star Craft 2?
- SSCrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12StarCraft Franchise > Warcraft Franchise.
ANd When the hell are they going to announce Diablo 3. Who are they trying to fool, its obvious its under development. - SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11And shoot the people who think videogames promote violence too!

- ChristOff666, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Not everyone is in the 'modding community' you know...
For someone like me who liked Starcraft that time, this is very interesting... as everyone, I'm waiting Starcraft 2 ;-) - violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"Im surprised Blizzard has allowed this and hasnt sued them off the face of the earth."
They're not stupid, after the success of Counter Strike, you'd have to be crazy to go after your most hardcore fan base. These guys will get jobs long before they get sued. - monkeycatDx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Hey lets not rush this, we still got Star Craft: Ghost coming soon....
- DiggerT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Starcraft VS Warcraft
- geezas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@akolyte
I don't think people are talking about the SC Ghost. Me personally, I don't care about SC ghost. I was dissapointed when I found out they were planning to make Ghost and not the StarCraft 2 or something. I want the next StarCraft strategy game to come out real bad. It would be even greater if they kept the old characters and map styles and espesially game play similar to the old one.
@JrGhoull
I am totally with you, amigo ;] - SkizotEnigma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6We would NOT take it to court. We do not have that kind of capitol are are just a bunch of guys/gals doing this in our spare time ( which has been lacking lately). we REALLY hope blizzard sees this as a chance to reach out to thier modding fanbase.
Also, as for the voice acting... we know it's a bit bad...but the video was a bit of a rushed Christmas present to our fans. Future ones WILL be better. - twelvedogs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The difference is that the races are actually different in starcraft, and the units actually have personality, rather than having the exact same units, repeated 3 times, once with wings, once with wheels and once with floaties
- DiggerT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7sc:ghost is as likely to come out anytime soon as duke nukem forever is.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6the voice acting and script is TERRIBLE
- jhaydon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@emil1212
Blizzard won't make a Starcraft sequel because South Korea paid them off never to make one, as no one in South Korea would ever go to work again if they did. - spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm losing it... I was watching that video and thinking "Wow, those look like the robots in Starcra---... "
- Fortex555, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Spawn more Overlords!
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@violentvinyl
What the hell are you on about? Counter-Strike was a brand new IP, it was a unique mod. This mod is using the Starcraft IP. It's completely different situtation. - SirBriggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow that music sounds dated...
- saggygrandma, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7God damn zerg rushes
- sneugol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't understand this 3D trend in gaming. I much preferred isometric graphics from Starcraft to 3D graphics from Warcraft III. Those rendered 3D games look all the same while drawn 2D graphics have distinct styles. Additionally, it is easier to see where the units are in 2D.
- jacobmiller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6oh my god, starcraft has got to be the best freaking video game of all time. Anyone who hasn't played it should be shot!
- DiggerT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4its a mod for Warcraft 3, a 5 year old game, what did you expect?
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8because other big companies have sued other people for making mods based off copywrighted materials. Just cause its their game engine doesn't mean Blizzard gave them permission to use content from one of their other games.
- riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7This mod is nothing compared to other mods in work for warcraft..
Maybe Blizzard (and most modders) can spend some time actually improving something in their games.. starting with how the levels look (no this isn't spam) >>
http://www.cryptikarma.com/screenshots_gallery - gonknet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@TheAkolyte, He's talking about the mod being based off of copyrighted material (ie. Starcraft). Not about being able to mod WC3.
- h4mx0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Empire Earth? Those graphics? Those are worse than War3's engine. I mean, there are tons of more comparable games...
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"WE REQUIRE MORE MINEROOLZ!"
- phatalbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What's the big deal with 3D graphics for RTS games? It doesn't add anything to the gameplay, I find it just makes things messier and less precise. Well done, beautifully drawn isometric graphics are better in my opinion.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3***** yourself in terror? iPhone is nothing special, a lot of phones already have the features it has, it's just got a huge screen to make carrying it hader. This mod has really bad voicing & animation.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@JrGhoull
Ghost wasn't an FPS, it was a Third Person Shooter. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6World of Diablo.
- TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Good job and, especially, good luck to you and your team, Schizo. Because, considering Blizzard's track record, they've not been fond of any mod project involving their intellectual property or technology (bnetd, anyone?). Blizzard's fans rationalize that it's Vivendi Universal behind the C&Ds, and that Blizzard is powerless to do anything -- B-frackin'-S. Blizzard could probably get Vivendi's lawyers to back off, if they explained these situations to their corporate parent. But they don't. Because they support the shutdowns, and hide behind their corporate parent's lawyers and plead innocence to their fanbase.
- Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Blizzard isn't who they should be worried about, it's damn Vivendi.
- GrayOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Blizzard needs to get off it's collective asses and make more than one product.
Why don't they just take WC3 engine or license the C&C Generals engine and just make a Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 for that matter?
If they can't come up with the 30 people for that project how about just updating Starcraft through Battlenet to be a much more modern game?
Starcraft is 8+ years old. The minium system specs are 90 mhz machine with 16mb ram.
When you are playing a No Rush game or a Use Map Settings game, the game still lags, even on our modern machines that are 15X more powerful than the minuim requirements. They really need to update the engine. - dubcanada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There is no real members of the team, I know a few people who tried to join but the owner of the project is an idiot who does not want people with a vast amount more skill them him joining. Also they don't want voice people to do the voices as they probably want to hear themselves :/
