- thrillhouse900, on 06/29/2009, -7/+359Hey you guys! Starcraft 2 just came out! Lets have a big lan to celebrate! Oh wait a second, ***** you Blizzard.
- doshindude, on 06/29/2009, -3/+264High school computer labs everywhere just got really pissed off.
- mgander, on 06/29/2009, -9/+254This is an obvious ploy to make more money. The only reason you would not have lan is so that everyone must have a valid cd key in order to play multiplayer. The number of people who would use lan for legitimate reasons would far outweigh those using it with burned copies of the game. Nice job Blizzard, you have succeeded in making yourselves a few extra bucks!
- nepidae, on 06/29/2009, -4/+188Ah Activision, what can't you ruin?
- awtripp, on 06/29/2009, -11/+186FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
- danthek54, on 06/29/2009, -7/+178No Starcraft LAN?
That means we won't have it at my next super awesome LAN party
That means no girls will show up because they only play Starcraft
My LAN party is ruined... - pwner, on 06/29/2009, -8/+171So what you're saying is, the free pirated copy has LAN?
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -5/+154Damn.
- jacksons98, on 06/29/2009, -1/+121I know, these game companies have sure gotten greedy. The original Starcraft let you spawn copies for your friends to play on LAN. They just couldn't play online or the single player game.
- nepidae, on 06/29/2009, -3/+110Not sure why you are being buried. This is clearly a case where going the illegal route will get you a superior product.
- masterspy7, on 06/29/2009, -3/+102Like all other ploys like this, it will only increase piracy. If someone manages to hack the game to allow LAN, then that would become insanely popular.
- Boofster, on 06/29/2009, -18/+112That's it. Not buying it. Screw that.
- SovereignGFC, on 06/29/2009, -0/+92I'm not even annoyed about the legal copy thing; I'm more than willing and wanting to BUY this game. What I'm annoyed about is that this will be the only game that you have to use the internet to play at a LAN party. Battle.net better not lag... Let's NOT use the virtually lag free gigabit hardware my friends and I have, let's force all the traffic out through the router, to BNet, then back through my crappy DSL, creating tons of lag.
- jkr801, on 06/29/2009, -9/+101Dont they make enough money with WOW?? ***** you blizzard...
- Odjn, on 06/29/2009, -4/+94What?!?
- Aliwalla, on 06/29/2009, -3/+90why? why would you do something so unbelievably stupid as that?
- noghead, on 06/29/2009, -3/+86because this kind of ***** makes me want to pirate the game
- Zaxcomp, on 06/29/2009, -5/+69Damn, I forgot about when games where created to be played and not sold.
- CSFFlame, on 06/29/2009, -6/+68Yeah, no LAN, no buying it. I only play LAN, Bnet is for updates and dling new maps.
- arunforce, on 06/29/2009, -3/+64I blame Activision, you corporate ***** ***** over Blizzard.
Not only they want 3 different versions of one single game, which was before Blizzard, now you can't share your own game in your own ***** house.
I think I don't want Starcraft 2 anymore. - brownr21, on 06/29/2009, -1/+55Hopefully this means no CD-check to start the game.
- jonthebishop, on 06/29/2009, -12/+64I have been excited about Starcraft 2 for years. Not even going to bother buying it now. Starcraft LAN games were the best :[
- Zantive, on 06/29/2009, -0/+50Girls play Starcraft?
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -4/+52This is awesome!
No wait, it's that other thing... horrible. - sonos, on 06/29/2009, -2/+50Can't believe I'm saying this:
Blizzard is stupid. - protogenxl, on 06/29/2009, -0/+40Red Alert 3: Has Lan
StarCraft 2: No Lan
EA > Blizzard?
THE END IS NEAR!
REPENT, REPENT! - erasedgod, on 06/29/2009, -2/+41It will eventually.
- nepidae, on 06/29/2009, -0/+39Its to give hackers something to do.
- shininia, on 06/29/2009, -2/+40They could play online, just in the same game as you. This is complete *****.
- boheme, on 06/29/2009, -6/+43Note to Blizzard: I have purchased Starcraft and Brood War multiple times so that I could play with friends on my home network. Without LAN mode I will buy exactly ZERO copies of this game. Money, no money; your choice. I think you are choosing poorly.
- Shidell, on 06/29/2009, -3/+40This is a pretty stupid move. So now we're going to bring 8 friends into a basement and hook up to Battle.net through an 8 meg connection and rox0rz ur b0x? Um.. right.
Christ, that'll bring that 8 meg pipe right down to nothing with 8 people attached, and you're all sitting within 20 feet.
Sad. - Blue7Alien, on 06/29/2009, -0/+34This is going ot make it really hard for people who want to lan and have legit keys to play together, trying to find each other through battle net.
- Zaxcomp, on 06/29/2009, -5/+37Well we know where Blizzard stands when it comes to art vs dollar.
- BigT383, on 06/29/2009, -1/+32They might do it the smart way where the battle.net servers simply authenticate and organize the game, and then all of the real gameplay traffic is peer to peer (thus would enjoy the benefits of your lan). It doesn't really make sense not to do it that way, since Blizzard would then have to pay for all of that extra bandwidth.
- swiftekho, on 06/29/2009, -0/+30Damn indeed but I don't buy it. The competitive side of any game is based around a LAN. Starcraft's competitive culture runs very deep and I'm pretty sure the Koreans may revolt over this.
- inigomntoya, on 06/29/2009, -2/+31Not at his house...
- Breogan, on 06/29/2009, -2/+31This is incredibly stupid. One of the main features for me was to run lag-free games in a lan with friends, which will now be forced to run games through Blizzard's servers. At least they could let you verify your account against their servers and still run the games in local mode.
- funkyp56, on 06/29/2009, -3/+30Note to Blizzard:
We will hack it until we can play LAN and then we will still pirate copies of the game. - Chris_F, on 06/29/2009, -1/+27so much for those StarCraft 2 tournaments at our upcoming lan parties
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -2/+28@Petrie
You have absolutely no idea what the StarCraft modding community is capable of. StarCraft 1 has been modded to increase the output resolution. - ithejosh, on 06/29/2009, -1/+27This is just going to increase piracy, hackers are going to make a version that has LAN. Really it is no difference for how much Blizzard is going to make, so this move is pointless and just makes them look bad.
- sciencelovesyou, on 06/29/2009, -1/+27That may indeed be part of the problem.
- wsuBobby, on 06/29/2009, -4/+28This is just plain STUPID.
- ethamajin, on 06/29/2009, -13/+37Blizzard has sucked since World of Warcraft.
- NathanCH, on 06/29/2009, -1/+24I don't see the point of not including it.
- MaC505, on 06/29/2009, -5/+28"Later on, IncGamers also got a clarification from Blizzard, saying the choice of excluding a LAN feature:
'is because of the planned technology to be incorporated into Battle.net.'"
Until I know what that means exactly, I refuse to go cry in the corner I had planned on heading towards when I read the headline. - billapepper, on 06/29/2009, -5/+28Yay for LAG!
- felman87, on 06/29/2009, -1/+24Not at my house
- EdLau, on 06/29/2009, -11/+34WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT THIS IS AN OUTRAGE
- AZExile, on 06/29/2009, -0/+22also doesn't have lan support
