So to recap, it's being created with PC-based dev tools, but with plans only for PS3/Xbox 360 console release.

      When has a game for a console not been made with PC tools. unless you are running a compiler on the ps3 in linux, but I doubt that.

But then I like JRPGs, while I've seen that a lot of other PC gamers don't. I consider myself a PC gamer first and foremost, mainly for RTSs, and this is awesome because I don't have a 360 or a PS3. The graphics on the PC version are going to kick ass I imagine. Probably even better than Crysis, considering it's probably not coming out for at least another year.
    • seraph582, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1The FF games for PC were... eh... not very scalable, but definitely still had their advantages over consoles. FF7 with anisotropic filtering and antialiasing looked magnitudes better than it did on the PS1. The summoning spells looked breathtaking.

      the whole "they are putting priority on the PC version" thing makes me want to have a joygasm. It makes sense though - PC is far and away the easiest gaming platform to develop for. I mean *****, 99% of software developed is made for PC's.

        I still think the ENIX merger completely destroyed Square... they have since yet to release a renouned classic like 6 or 7 since... it became some kind of crazy ass franchise with mupets and MMO's...

        I'm sure EA has some good games on its resume, but the majority seem to be crap.

I still remember playing it back on the NES when I was a kid. So far I like the DS remake, so I will have to check out 4. I would really love a 6 (3) remake as well (if they haven't already done that and I just missed it).

        And I've already got FF4 re-made for the GBA, wasn't that impressed. It's okay, but wasn't realy able to draw me in.

      SquareEnix's target audience are console gamers, not PC gamers...Only a handful of gamers would be interested in the PC version, and most of them would spend no thought on actually *buying* it. There's a reason why even Crytek doesn't make PC games anymore.

        I thought their audience were "gamers" full stop. They make stories, wonderfully interactive stories, what the ***** does it matter what "platform" they make it for?

        Also, Crytek doesn't make PC games any more because they suck at it. They made a nice looking game, sure, but they hyped it as the second coming of Christ in terms of game play and visuals. The media they released presented this gorgeous game, but to actually play that game they'd promised you needed a $5000 machine and even then it didn't run too well. Is it any real surprise that people didn't want to pay for the privilege of having the wool pulled over their eyes and spanked like red headed step children?

I only play the thing to see the cinematics. The game play itself is mediocre at best. It gets in the way of my enjoying the movie which is spread out within the game.

      2.excellent sound tracks
      3.tons of GREAT side quests
      4.lots of replay value
      5.familiarity with FF game play. (summons, biggs + wedge, cid, vehicles etc)
      6.Save the world from the bad guys.

      and finally even though you clearly disagree, most people find it to be FUN!!

        I like turn based and I'm not alone. I already have Zelda for a non turn based rpg.

While I'm not really a gamer, over the years I've played every FF game (even the awful mystic quest) and have nothing to regret.
