What they have done is polish the game and improve on graphics, but the underlying game itself is supposed to have changed little from the original concept they were striving for.

Just because most creationists insult those of different beliefs and are usually low in the IQ department doesn't make them all bad.

          The joke could be funny if you expanded, maybe come up with something that triggers a spark of duke nukem and spore and cleverly mixes them together. Some thats not so obvious, something that only fans of spore and duke will actually get - you know an inside joke.

          After hearing that Will Write has announced the official release date for the Spore Forever package, George Broussard has spun his team into what can only be describes as a rabid frenzy, Upon hearing the date Broussard was motivated by anger and had this to say to his team to his team
          "its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum and im all out of gum"

        Second of, Socomoddjob, They are releasing it initially for PC and Nintendo DS only. They have plans for releasing it for other platforms, but nothing confirmed as to which platforms that will be. Also the version for the Nintendo DS will not be the full retail PC Version, instead it will be a customized version that focuses on specific parts of the Spore development cycle. It will also not be inter-compatible with the PC version. Will this stay true with other version releases? We don't know. They haven't said.

        I personally have verified the following work either with wine or natively (I am primarily an mmo player so you will not find shooters here, not that it matters anyway since most shooters have an opengl mode and therefore are more likely to work anyway)

        World of Warcraft (listed at the top because it's well known this runs flawlessly and in some cases faster than on windows)
        Everquest 2
        Lord of the Rings Online
        Dungeons and Dragons Online
        City of Heroes / Villians
        The Sims 2
        Neverwinter Nights
        The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

        And tons of other commercial games. I also want to note here that wine is closing in on version 1.0

        Also to the original commenter, I have read at some point along the way that Spore is supposed to run on Linux though how that coincides with the release date I'm not certain.

        If the game is good, I'd buy it.

Prolonging the game does just that - prolongs when you can play it. It's not like you suddenly hate a game for having developmental problems and having to push a release date back. They're not doing it to piss you off or out of spite - if they delay it, it has to be a good reason.
      Especially if it's EA.

    Game making is a combination of many arts (music, visual, etc) and it is hard to know when an art will be complete until it is complete. The problem though is that it is also a business and release dates shouldn't be made until they can be kept.

      I Personally think that ALL game makers should take the ValVe approach to game release dates, just say "yes we are working on it" and don't say anything beyond that. When the game is done or about to enter final testing THEN you start showing it off and talking about it, that way people will be really hyped for it and you won't have to worry about delaying it over and over again.

      That's the problem I have with a lot of games that build hype way to early, Rockstar does a good job with it but Valve was the best with Half-life 2, If it wasn't for the one guy leaking the code the game would of been out when they said.

      Look at mashables.com, they run on wordpress, they frequently make it to the front page of digg and they get well over 250,000 hits a day. Its their host (Media Temple) and hosting plan that keeps their site going. you get what you pay for with hosting. dont be one of those wordpress hating retards. get your facts straight before posting jibberish like that... sheer buffonery!!
