- proxima, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Member's only cover, or something, its a close up of the new Sam look: http://www.scene.org/~riot/EricB/PE56_kansi_fin_tilaaja_lite.jpg
And just to preface all the "splinter cell 2k8" type comments, everyone should know that this game is being made by the Montreal studio, the same studio responsible for the original and Chaos Theory (which is generally considered to be the best in the series). It's also been in development for something to the tune of 2 years. - DTJunkie07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21@ezarkun
"Damn I wish I had facial hair like that."
When a boy reaches the age of about 12 or 13 his body starts to go through some changes... - DTJunkie07, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Ubisoft might put one of these out almost every year but unlike the Tony Hawk franchise I actually still look forward to playing and enjoying each and every one.
- SpItFiRe3297, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Ummm, the difference here is that Splinter Cell actually has a new story line every time a new game is released. All the EA games are the same crap, it's always a sports games, just because they add a few new teams and the games can be a little different doesn't mean it's a new game.
- CanadianGeese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14 I was hoping for some info about multiplayer and co-op. I love the Splinter Cell franchise, though, so I'm sure it will be great.
- sidebuster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It sounds like it is going to be a Bourne Identity type of game. Looking forward to it. I really like 1 and 3. 2 and 4 were all right.
- Rosco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+113.0 shader is old tech now, if you can't manage Shader 3.0 you are really behind the ball.
- Markpdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Its clearly Christian Bale!
- PirateJaxx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I hated daylight missions in DA, this is my worst nightmare.
- EzarKun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Damn I wish I had facial hair like that.
naahhh, his face in Chaos Theory is the best.
But this hairstyle looks awesome. - bart5986, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Splinter Cell is my most favorite game of all time. I don't see why its going to be in broad daylight this time though, darkness is what makes it extra fun!
- Flatlineskillz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I have been a huge splinter cell fan since it came out my sophomore year of college. I actually woke up one morning and traded my PS2 and library of games for a xbox just to play Pandora Tomorrow the day it was released. I have been looking out for info on the game for a while. There is actually a phone number they used to market Double agent where it would give you sound clips hinting at the storyline and stuff. I tried calling it again last month and it actually had new stuff on it. Its just kinda creepy now. The number is 1-877-731-7437 if you wanna check it out. HAHAHA Digg effect isn't just limited to web traffic now!.
- FortyCaliber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Sam Fisher doesn't sleep... he waits.
- weekend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ubisoft hasn't used Starforce on their PC games for quite a while. Funny what a lawsuit will do.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No they shouldn't. Why would you want to go through the same levels again?
"I don't like new games. I want to keep playing the same thing over and over again!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes.
- majorbabu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@BrianBoyko
Ubisoft dumped Starforce a year ago.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6147655.html - thinkycap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Same team that did CT huh...ok, I'll bite. Though, I have to get a 360 first.
I beat them all, but Double Agent was by far the most suck ass of the three. Few of the reasons why:
-There's no way you can actually fully 'lose' the trust of either side. I played through the game choosing every option that in real life would've gotten an undercover agent's head blown off. The only way it could've been more obvious that I was an undercover was to have Sam wear a 'I heart the NSA' t-shirt. And I think that still would've went over the JBA's head....
-That 'retarded enemy' bug from the first Splinter Cell came back. You know, the one where you throw a can and the enemy decides to walk not where the can landed, but magically TOWARDS you. Or the one where you open a door, then hide (with the hope being the enemy will come to the door so you can knock him out/kill him), and sure he walks over to take a look, but NEVER moves. I mean this in the most literal sense possible. I've even put the controller down, went and made a sammich (yup, 'sammich'), channel surfed, came back, and he was STILL standing there, just staring out into the darkness like a retard.
Also, I've noticed that enemies don't just walk around randomly. Some of their paths are triggered by Sam's promximity to them, which is also stupid. Example being that some people won't move until you get a certain distance from them, regardless if they can see you or not. Like a security guard won't begin walking away until you're like two inches from him. If you never get that close, he'll never move. Just stand there. Kind of hard to explain, but if you've played you should get my meaning.
-JBA headquarters...some of the most pointless, stupid ***** I've ever seen in Splinter Cell:
If I'm "one of the guys", explain WHY I need to sneak around a place where everyone should know Sam again? It makes sense to require Sam to sneak into sensitive areas, but just casually walking around shouldn't be cause for alarm.
Especially the parts where Dufraisne uses the INTERCOM system to request Sam's presence. Everyone should hear that right? So having to sneak to his office makes sense how?
Few other bugs, those are just off the top of my head.
Please don't ***** this one up UbiSoft. - peterandbeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ive been a Splinter Cell fan since it first came out and I have to say im still loving the franchise, and what makes playing Splinter Cell even more interesting is reading the books. The books take a closer look at what Sam Fisher is really like it helps you to connect with his situations. I recommend the books to any Splinter Cell fan it makes the games so much better when you know what Sam is going through. Check it Out

- Echuta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was all in for the first three. Chaos Theory is in my top 3 games. I was a little disappointed with DA though. If it's true that the same team who did CT is doing this one then it should be amazing. I don't mind the daylight either (I'm sure there will still be a few night missions anyway)...it'll be interesting to see it mixed up a bit.
- brianboyko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I loved Splinter Cell but I'm not willing to risk wrecking my hardware (or taking the performance hit) from the Starforce copy protection. That stuff can seriously mess your computer up. In fact, there's like 5 Ubisoft games I'd buy -right now- if it wasn't for the Starforce copy protection.
- FortyCaliber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You, sir, have said a mouthful.
- Meave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is this the one that's a Xbox 360 exclusive?
- jiri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Somehow most of the articles mentioning it "forget" to link to the site.. :P
- solarbeat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So did they announce a release date?
- Maceebe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sounds pretty cool I'm a big fan
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I had the opposite reaction. I thought the nighttime missions were all worse because, instead of designing a cool level with interesting hiding spots, they just let the user rely on darkness and made the levels look like crap. They were more difficult, too. Specifically, the very first level in DA is probably the worst out of all of them (not counting the terrorist HQ stuff, which I also hated for the most part).
- muitosabao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wonder if that means that it's going to have great Amon Tobin soundtrack like Chaos Theory...
- Maj3styk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A link to their magazine info - with hi-res covers:
http://pelaajalehti.com/2007/05/03/uusin-pelaaja-myynnissa-splinter-cell-conviction/
Anyone have the mag that could translate more info? - actionofficer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool, I am a huge Splinter Cell fan so I can't wait for this game to come out.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hope it doesn't suck as badly as Double Agent.
- EzarKun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I know that, I am just saying I dont have that rough look. Mine grows curly after a few mm for some reason.
- olego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, I beat S.T.A.L.K.E.R. without Shader 3, and that was released after SC:DA. At least they could've included a compatibility mode.
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I own al of them and get another one out i have loved all but the first splinter cell...i cant wait
- ssuasw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn i better find a way to buy a 360 , Splinter cell was one of the first few games i bought in ps2 the graphics werent as good as the xbox , but didnt really matter at the time , i dont think i could part with my ps2 and huge library of games for a 360. Ill only buy a 360 or ps3 once its out and only for the reason that it has Conviction.Praying for multiplatform so it dosent get stuck to one console making me regret buying a 360/ps3 later ( not trying to start a console fanboy flame war)
- ortucis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So, is it going to run on an average PC (which is faster than 360 these days) even though textures look like crap in every game (console ports) without asking for 5000$ upgrades?
- MiDri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ezarkun -- I feel your pain man, I'm 21 and I'm reduced to growing shaggy (from Scooby Doo) style facial hair... makes my choice of whether to shave in the morning easy though, YES!
- FortyCaliber, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I read the excerpt on Amazon...
That ***** is drivel. It reads like a 9th grade short story... (I did this, then I did this, I smell this, I smell that.)
Clancy's work is pretty bad, but at least I can read it. This isn't even by Clancy... yet his name is all over the book like he penned it.
Who in the ***** is David Michaels? - EzarKun, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4@flawed77
ROFL - Codename, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2They should remake Splinter Cell. (The Original)
- Pelimies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Pretty cool site for the mag that scooped the info - it's at http://www.pelaajalehti.com - in Finnish, though.
- themessage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I wish Montreal would go back to the original Splinter Cell style, where it was more like Thief. They seem to be moving more mainstream like Hitman or MGS. What's next, FEAR?
- azizrulez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0the splinter cell series is getting really boring now,
i feel they need something new to spice things up - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3The most challenging part of Splinter Cell games is trying to find the right combination of computer specs to run this piece of ***** software. Unless you are lucky enough and happen to have the same hardware setup as the developers at Ubisoft, you probably never was able to play Splinter Cell either.
- Greyline108, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Wow. I likely need to get my eyes checked, but I think Fisher is starting to look a bit like Solid Snake.
- tcav85, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2*****
- jeandupont570, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Hey, anyone want to discuss this with me ? Here is my adresse: jean.dupont570@orange.fr
- bskip29, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2I was hoping for a patch that would fix the busted up Double Agent before they started releasing new busted up games.
