- uacheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17don't digg the man down. bungie.net is blocked here at work. mirrors are a godsend
- iceeblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I enjoyed Halo 1. I enjoyed Halo 2 I am looking forward to Halo 3 and will buy a 360 just play it. I guess I am in the minority. I even enjoyed reading about this grenade keeps my appetite wet.
Oh I should point out that I only play for fun I am not looking for a game to provide meaning for my life. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Is it just me...or didn't these already exist in "The Fifth Element"...in 1997? Remember the ballroom/bar fight?
- Billiam627, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Now if they would only tell us what the X button does...
- solemnraven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13no by far the best quote "Like What? A Spider?"
LOL RvB FTW! - NeoCortex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It's Bungie's website. I'm pretty sure they can handle the load.
- chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Don't worry, hes just a ps3 troll, jealous that Halo 3 will be waaaay better than Resistance.
- uacheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8360... obsolete by the end of the year? And why's this game doomed to be horrible? I don't get all the Halo bashing these days..
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6WTF? That was weird. When I first clicked on the title it just threw me to some random Bungie page. I guess they were updating their site after the submitter posted it?
Anyway, does anyone else think that these grenades seem like they're going to cheapen the multiplayer aspect of throwing grenades at opponents?
I mean think about it...who's going to use the plasma or the frag grenades now that they've got a grenade that has the power and stickyness of BOTH? I liked the strategy of choosing one type of grenade for certain situations. I hope the gameplay is better than it's making it sound.
I don't want to sound all negative...but the game is making me more skeptical. - theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6maybe it allows you to SHOOP DA WHOOP!
- tsunamitomi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5just no chain delivery.
- Odjn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Sounds like a Hedgehog Grenade from Resistance: Fall of Man.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I hate bungie.net... If I wanted to have a screen viewing area the size of a matchbox, I would resize the window, or change my resolution to 64x48. Honestly, what damned use are those stupid bars that don't scroll with the rest of the page?
"Just in case I am too lazy to scroll up to click a link to the Bungie store, I can see it right here (over what I am actually trying to read)!" - UPSLynx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Excerpt from long-term, in-field interview with the soldiers of E2-BAG/1/7. Type-2 Antipersonnel Fragmentation Grenade Official designation: Type-2 Antipersonnel Fragmentation Grenade"
That's the most confusing and difficult to read headline I've seen in awhile. - cresswga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Amen to that!
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7That's because it is.
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Bungie is blocked at my school.
- Abizdafuzz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh god please let it be the flashlight button! /sarcasm
- DiggYaLater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From the article there is no fuse length. Explosion on impact. Perpendicular to the surface it comes in contact with. up to 3 meters (10 feet).
- whahaa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i thought it was the energy shield we saw the master chief use in the tv commercial.
- tsunamitomi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I just can't wait until I get stuck for first time and as they are standing there laughing I maneuver close enough so that the flaming chainsaws of death will melt their pimply 12 year old face off.
That will be awesome.
Can't wait to see what kind of gameplay will come of these. I can image people getting really good at using these and developing whole strategies of defense around these grenades.
In Halo 2 it was all about making sure you had the rocket launcher and the sword. Now defending teams will have to make sure they have a full stock of Spike Grenades.
EDIT: BTW, does anyone know what the fuse length on these will be? - sesmm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*Snowspot
I think its cool that they show the weapons but the blades of grass is a little extreme. - vlekk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In case you haven't seen the 'Puma' radials that the Warthog is now sporting....check this: http://www.bungie.net/images/games/halo3/screenshots/H3_MPAlpha_HighGroundAssault.jpg out and pay close attention to the driver's side rear wheel and you'll also be happy to see the Spike Grenade in a much better light.
8-) - AXNeXus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The blades of grass comment was blown out of proportion. What the article was actually talking about is how environments will be more destructible. It refered to how, if you've seen the screens of the Valhalla map, then you'll have noticed the grass seemed to have been pressed flat all over like Coagulation in Halo 2. It goes on to say that when they're done, however, there will be grass and shrubbery that will be destructible, a first for the series. For example, you throw a grenade into a patch of grass, unlike before the grass will be blasted away. It's not huge, nor is it intended to be. It's just another one of those cool little things that adds together with others to make the experience more engaging. Always be doubtful when someone makes a half-witted anti-Halo comment.
- FzArEkTaH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1whahaa beat me to it
my guess is some sort of shield - AXNeXus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No these won't be completely preferable over the frag and plasma, because it has a directional blast. Exploding in one direction will make them easier to avoid in some situations. Also, it sounds as if these are a little more meticulous to use, unlike the quickly usable frags. Not that they don't sound cool for the trapping element.
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was hoping that it would activate an adrenaline rush or that shield we saw in the MNF commercial. One could only dream. But it probably will be something boring...
- djtodd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Call me a flaming fanboy, it doesn't matter, but I'm salivating for Halo 3. Mostly for MP but even the campaign mode is going to kick some serious ass. Great graphics, polished gameplay. I love Halo 2 MP because it combines action and tactical shooting very well...it's not all action nor is it hardcore tactics (by any means!) but if you ever got really into MP you do have to have good communication and a gameplan or you get pwned (excuse the cliche!)
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Whoa! I like the Halo series too, but you should really cut back on the bowls of sugar for breakfast.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so this is not a frag or sticky, but a combo? Could there be some term for this?
spiked?
clubbed?
S-fragged?
wall shot?
brutalized? - halosniper7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i didn't get into the beta.
ill go cry some more... - Sornos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It explodes with a bang, not with spikes. The Spike Grenade name is just because it has big spikes on it to stick to whatever it strikes. It does not shoot big spiky things. The explosion can be seen on the picture provided in the article. It can be seen on the bottom left.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The 360 was obsolete before it came out. My computer, which I built near the end of '05, can play Oblivion with better graphics and better framerate than the 360.
The PS3 will be obsolete within the next year.
The Wii? Well, my computer doesn't have that whole motion-sensing thing, and I doubt it ever will... it'll take a while for the Wii to become obsolete :)
Anyways, in the console war, it all comes down to the games. - khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yes, all of the consoles will be obsolete by the end of the year. They're obsolete now. We're already working on emulating these systems to run the games on our PCs. Oh, and by the end of the year, we'll probably be seeing quad-core 64-bit systems with CPU/GPU combined dies, IN LAPTOPS. (HP's already got a dual core Turion 64 in their higher line of notebooks.)
- Snowspot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The halo 3 coverage is getting ridiculous. This is newsworthy? A little story about grenades? I read a story about the blades of grass in halo 3 on another site. They're going to hype this game so much it'll start getting anti-hype....they should just wait till the game is released before trying to give out useless info.
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Halo is not an FPS, it's Jesus' second coming.
- Snowspot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0So it's about the grass...how did I blow it out of proportion exactly? If there was something like that in zelda no one would give a rats ass, they had stuff like that on the dreamcast...hence, NOT A BIG DEAL.
- riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Yes Yes.. both, the description in the post AND the details on that page were very interesting to the gaming community.
- icedevil6, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Haha, bungie pwns the digg effect, they need no mirror.
- YouRookies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It's only newsworthy to the fanboys, which apparently are a lot of diggers. Once you've played a FPS, you've played them all.
- dmg025, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1looks like the grenades from GoW
- sunchild, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Didn't I just say it would be late? And I own a 360, so I'm not trolling for other consoles.
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -20/+14http://duggmirror.com
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5I don't know. Halo 2 let me down after playing Halo for so long so right now I have NO expectations.
- eugeneandbobo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2change grenades...it'll be that simple and disappointing
- GeorgeTuk, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2This is news?!
Though I am glad to see it games can now be built up to such incredible heights that they will only fall again. At least in some peoples eyes anyway. - Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3Et tu, Bru-AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH MY FACE! IT BURNS!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3*sigh*
Here is a direct link.
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=rawr - sunchild, on 10/12/2007, -25/+1It's amazing to me how companies put soooo much effort into the concept phase of movies and games which turn out to be complete *****. It must be fun to be paid to dream up silly quotes from a fake battlefield about a non-existent weapon that won't make it into a game that will ship late for a by-then obsolete console.
