The games are coming. They just released Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, COD4, and Assassin's Creed all in the last month. - krd1979, on 11/24/2007, -0/+2The PS3 is in 3rd place and it's going to stay there for quite a while, most likely for its whole lifecycle. I don't know anyone who owns a PS3 or who even wants one. I would buy one if it were under $300, but even then it would need a few more games that interest me.

It's funny because I'm in marketing and advertising and I just don't see what these ads accomplish. Sony has been pulling out these odd and abstract ads that are memorable because of their awkwardness, but don't actually make me want to buy the damn thing. I'd be surprised if they actually sold consoles with these ads, and I thought I had read they were going to move away from this marketing plan.
The biggest problem with these ads is it doesn't tell me anything about the system or offer any real benefits. Why am I going to want to buy a PlayStation 3? The ads don't convince me.

To those of you who missed it... last year Sony decided to launch a viral marketing campaign for the PSP which was a horribly, horribly made site called alliwantforchirstmasisapsp.com which featured a 20 something moron who rapped about wanting a PSP for Christmas. Watch this comment get multiple (-) diggs. Unless of course they read this and give it a thumbs up in order to make you think they aren't really deluded fanboys. In any case, it is pretty sad most of them can't look past corporate rivalries and just enjoy games across all platforms.

Small things sell at Christmas because people try to guess what you want - games, DVD's, chocolate, cloths, cheapish jewlery. But things that cost as much as the PS3 sell because people want them. Kids write out christmas lists for their parents, older kids ask out right, adults ask their partners i know some single adults that feel they deserve a big present at christmas and so buy themself something great.
The wii will probably not sell that much this christmas because people are strugling to find them, my girl's trying to find one for her brother and its just not happening. Do you really think that the other consoles have sold more because they are better or are you smart enough to realise the time/cheapness that the wii and 360 have had over the ps3. The reason she is looking for a wii for him is because she cant afford to get him the PS3 which is what he really wants. This christmas is a big year for sony but next years christmas is even bigger because of the immenent price drop and the amount of games that will be available for the ps3 by then - MWeather, on 11/23/2007, -4/+5Yes, because the 360 is raking in the profits.
