Did Spike TV even try to come up with awards, or did the just pick names that the casual TV goer might recognize? There were much better voice casts, characters, and "actors" in games this year. They just don't have the killer launch title but neither did the 360. I'm expecting some love next year with FF and MGS.

Bitch, even if I had the money and the 'class status' to buy a PS3 I would only buy it as toilet paper holder. No, I don't think '*****' should be free, I think products deserve a fair price for what they sell. Don't know about you, but I don't like getting ripped off.

- SpoBo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10At the moment there aren't any good titles for the PS3.. so that's probably why they didn't win (a thing). By next year, hopefully, Sony will have had the time to get a game out that shows off what the PS3 is all about. But for now .. it's just an expensive x360 clone with free online play and an HD player. But .. it looks like they even ignored the PS2. It has a long list of excellent games .. even for this year. For example: best RPG ? could have easily been FFXII.

I am quite displeased with the title of this article, as it appears to merely be a shameless bashing of the PLAYSTATION 3. Though the article goes out of its way to make note of the PS3's shortcomings in this award show, it didn't appear as though there was much praise to be had for the Xbox 360, or it's game lineup either. I don't agree with the message of this article, thus I have marked it as such.

Besides Oblivion, Burnout Revenge, Guitar Hero II, Scarface: The World is Yours, Family Guy, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, The Sopranos: Road to Respect, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, Kingdom Hearts II, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, Pirates of the Caribbean: TheLegend of Jack Sparrow are all games that appear on the PS2.
Thats 12 games on that list that won awards without being console specific and you would imagine that in the past year any multiplatfom game would recieve more sales on the PS2.
I never understood the sony hate but at least some of the whining was based off of truth. Did I mention Guilty Gear was never nominated for best fighting game? Also they only nominate games that were released within 2 months of the video game awards because it's a freaking popularity contest. I wish someone would come along and throw a freaking decent video games awards show.
The 2005 awards had also received criticism for having nominations for Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and 50 Cent: Bulletproof. Both games had just been released when the special had aired, citing the possibility that the show was merely used as an advertising campaign for both games.

King Kong wasn't even released when the show aired on tv and Æon Flux was out for 1 week before the show was on TV. And Game of the Year - Resident Evil 4???? I really think God of War is better than Resident Evil 4, but thats my opinion.

- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I own all the major consoles (including all 3 next-gen ones), and this makes sense to me. Sony didn't do anything of note in the last year, game-wise. So they got what they deserved this year.
If Sony plays their cards right, there will be a couple of games worthy of consideration at this time next year.
But then again, this is the Spike TV awards. They're of dubious reputation anyway.
