- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree with lower price (I don't regret paying it, but I understand how it could create problems for most consumers) and decent games (Although this problem has plagued many consoles and I'm sure it'll be fixed in time), but:
For a launch console, the online system is great and my only gripe so far is the lack of a totally unified buddy system and background downloading (the second of which was added a bit after Xbox launched XBLA, so I'm sure a patch could turn it on for the PS3).
Controllers with rumble - I'm sorry, but that shouldn't be something on your list. Seriously. It's not important at all. I've been playing Resistance and a few of my old PS2 games regularly and I very rarely notice the lack of rumble (I'm even playing Gran Turismo 4, a game that I really thought Rumble was totally needed to play well.....guess what, it's not.) - topbravo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4One day we are going to find out that Microsoft has been doing this internet PR campaign from day one. The sales #s will tell the story, and I personally own a PS3 and I am blown away at how Anti proprietary everything is. I am able to use practically any USB device that I own + I can load up any distro that I want and I can use any 2.5 serial hard drive to add space.
I have found it to be an excellent value.
Kudos to Sony. - superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5An important point from the article:
"There is currently a huge campaign underway from HD DVD advocates to push the standard ahead of Blu-ray. One group, calling itself HD Now Online has created a website calling for petitions to pressure movie studios to get behind HD DVD and move away from Blu-ray."
Given that Microsoft is also supporting HD-DVD, would it be any surprize to see the same kind of astroturfing we saw with the Zune? How many die-hard anti-Sony fans that we see online all the time are really being paid to help convince others to go along with the anti-Sony crusade? - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I will 'eat my words' if [but not limited to] the followings things are done;
- lower price
- better online system
- controllers with rumble
- decent games
.. and so on.
Whether or not there is a company behind it all (I doubt it and do these people think there is a massive conspiracy behind all the Microsoft hate and similar things commonly said/thought on the internet ?) that doesn't suddenly been these issues have been simply created by competitors, they're real problems and won't magically change when more units are in stock.
