The Microsoft operating system unit is totally different from the XBOX division, yet people relate the two together all the time. I wonder why? It's the same company.

It would be one thing if enough people did it to actually make the PS3 not sell, but it won't. It will sell like hotcakes. Does anyone really think the suits are sitting around crying " -insert user name here- from digg is not gonna buy our products, we're going under...)?
If you wanna boycott them for some sort of personal ethics reason, fine, as for I am not going punish myself, by not getting a PS3 (if they end up being any good)just so some faceless corporate entity can NOT KNOW I boycotted them.
BTW, 95% of all companies do dishonest stuff, just stop shopping and go live in a cabin in the woods if you don't like it.

They both can do great graphics but its in the gameplay and right now xbox live is just perfect.
- cave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For me, the definition of "next-gen" console means that the hardware has evolved in such a way that it allows game developers to create games that otherwise weren't possible on the previous incarnation.
Up until the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox gen, the graphical leaps were dramatic enough to warrant this classification, plus there have been input evolutions here and there like the analog stick, shoulder buttons and whatnot. But this time around graphics are already "good enough" as it is, all that Sony and MS are doing now is smooth over a couple rough edges here and there with some overdone motion blur that will be giving people migraines.
In my eyes Nintendo is the only one coming up with a truly "next-gen" console. Sony and MS are just trying to pull a RIAA on us and come up with a new format just so we'll buy the same games all over again.

Here is what i dont get, why do you have to pay to do multi player gaming on live. If i can spend 39.99 on half life 2 and play half life 2 multiplayer and not pay monthly for it, why do i have to pay to play halo 2 or any other game multiplayer. When updates come out for half life new maps and so forth i dont have to pay , i get it free, i only play for single player expansions. But i have to pay to download the extra maps that should have been included in the original halo 2, I just dont understand it. Paying a yearly or monthly fee for an online game that is ever changing and providing new events and content i understand. Paying for some 12 year old to go tell me to go suck something nah, i dont think so.

This whole fanboy/anti-fanboy is seriously getting out of hand, its like digg politcal parties... To the point, im NOT going to jump to conclusions, im gonna wait see what they present and then wait some more untill it comes out. It's not untill I see both systems performing together that a real decision can be made. You want to go bashing sony for the rootkit thing fine, I think its insane too, but look just because one thing is bad doesn't mean the rest is bad, when one person makes a mistake you don't decide not to talk to that person for the rest of your life. Point is, sony screwed up big time, i dont care if its different devisions, if thats the reason its bad leadership on the ceo of the entire company. But, to go on with the point, one mistake does not condemn a company to hell, and does not stop them from bringing out great products, I can't wait to see the ps3, and the nintendo revolution and look forward to being able to choose one system when all are displayed infront of me. - xtremesniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know if any of you realize, but Sony has more products than just the Playstation. They will probably be showcasing televisions, home theater systems, stereos, etc. with that extra space.

The original specs were 800 lumens but they changed it to 1200 lumens right before it was released. They also overhyped the cell processor. According to IBM's white paper, only 155.5 GFLOPS was actually achieved. BUT, IBM's tests used all
8 SPEs. The PS3 will only use 7 SPE's, due to manufacturing yield issues. Sound familiar? Remember the hype about the emotion engine in the PS2? We all know how that turned out. Microsoft isn't the most ethical corporation either - in fact, they're a convicted monopolist. If you think Microsoft's tactics do not effect everyday Digg-readers as much Sony's rootkit, you're very misguided.

Here are a few examples:
Sony US Music Exec swore that the Playstation 1 would never take off and that it will drag down the Sony name.
Sony CE (TVs, VCRs, DVDs, etc) wanted to stop the PS2 because it had a DVD player built-in.
Sony Music were the idiots who licensed and release this rootkit.
Hence US Music Execs are the biggest bunch of idiots on the planet.
