My friends have been giving me crap about not being able to play it with my "under-powered" 360. - mgold1n, on 10/12/2007, -5/+61Microsoft needs to make a new commercial for the 360...
"Xbox 360- Hundreds of great games in Hi-def. Oh, and we got most of the PS3 library too." - guitarpro411, on 10/12/2007, -8/+55Thats actually kinda humorous. Its funny that they make fun of a system that is doing better than theirs (ps3 im assuming).
"our system is full of potential! while your stupid 360 keeps putting out great games consistently!...wait a sec" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+33'Sony Loses'
Aaaaahhhh, music to my ears... - wideawakewesley, on 10/12/2007, -6/+29More bad news for Sony...when it rains it pours!
- Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I think exclusive titles are going to start getting more and more scarce. The developers are realizing that the more platforms you sell the game on, the more people will buy it...
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Because Virtua Fighter 5 was not going to come to Xbox 360...EVER. So now that it is, it's a huge deal.
- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -25/+43Splinter Cell: Double Agent was announced for the PS3 today with some extras, so it ain't all bad news for Sony, but expect all third-party games to be mostly multiplatform for this generation. Unless, third-parties are paid big money for exclusives, you can't make a game that cost $20million and have it on a single console anymore.

that's why we digg comments down instead of leaving more worthless comm---
now look what you made me do. - Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14So who do I gotta sleep with to get Soul Calibur on the 360?
- jsully, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24Not sure why you were dugg down aegis9975... oh wait, yes I am - you contributed useful, topical information in a post that could have otherwise been used to piss on Sony. Bad digg monkey!
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Just enough time to get the bugs and balance issues fixed.
- milhousebambata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"even if the graphics are far superior to that of the competition"
What graphics are far superior to the 360s? While it is certainly possible that the PS3 could have better graphics in the future, the PS3 has nothing that looks better than the 360s best, and has shown nothing to indicate that its graphics are going to be "far superior" to the competition. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The comments on this site? I see nothing but a lively, often-humorous discussion. What is your complaint, exactly? The only thing pathetic is that you wasted the time to insult us, without elaborating on what you disapprove of.
- Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14@falseprophecy-
The funny thing about that statement is that the screenshots of VF5 look incredibly undemanding from a system standpoint. IMHO they look like last generation graphics. To say the 360 can't handle it when there are FAR AND AWAY better looking games on it already...is just plain *stupid*.
I'd also like to see the PS3 fanboys produce something on their PS3's that looks anywhere near as good as GoW does on the 360... I'm not much for arguing over which system is better, but the PS3 morons are really getting on my nerves...Both systems are powerful.
The 360 has hardware built from the ground up just for gaming. All other features happen to be well implemented and highly successful afterthoughts.
The PS3 has everything in mind, and at least at the moment executes pretty much nothing "well." This isn't to say that it can't BECOME great, but at the moment...it leaves a lot to be desired. Why do you think ARS Technica gave it a 6/10 at launch and gave the 360 a 9/10 at launch.....? - thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12In the end, I think Sony will end up paying for exclusive rights. With games like Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy, And I'm sure Kingdom Hearts will find it's way to next gen, Sony will start pulling in their core audience again. As of now, I haven't been impressed enough to buy one. Resistance being the only decent game, that doesn't even support 1080, it's not worth the price tag. But people complained about a lack of games for the 360 at launch and Gears of War took about a year to come out, I'm sure Sony will have something to show in a year. I'll stick to my 360 for now and see how things play out before i slam Sony.
Instead of digging down all people who have some hope for Sony, hopefully we can turn this into a discussion instead of burying all the people who don;t think like us. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I'm pretty sure that the Virtua Fighter series has sold more copies than Dead or Alive. They're certainly much better fighting games, at least.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Just because you're too uncultured (or stupid) to enjoy it doesn't mean that other's cant.
- Days, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11So you have already played it. No? Shut up.
- childprey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@pronouncable
Though you bringing up RE4 is ironic seeing as it was initially a GCN exclusive... - whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6All i can say is....
Joygasm!
When sega said VF5 was an ps3 exclusive, i was feeling pretty lousy, i mean, i don't mind if the ps fans get to play the wonderful Virtua fighter, but i would never buy a sony system.
VF on the xbox360 feels like homecoming, a return to glory!
:,) - Kwipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The problem with migrating to the wii is...
a.) If the game has a high amount of graphics, can you retain the developers vision when you reduce the technical graphics.
b.) Will porting a game to the wii just so it can be used on the wii controller actually make the game better. As much as I love the Wii, I don't think every game genre is suited to being played using the Wii Controller. Some games are just simply better and more fun using other controller types.
c.) Online play will come into a factor. Even to this day, I don't even know what Nintendo's plans are when it comes to their online services. - xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Once again, it's not the timeline, it's the fact that Virtua Fighter 5 was totally exclusive to Sony. Now, it will be going to the Xbox 360. The time isn't the point here, it's the fact that Virtua Fighter is no longer exclusive.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Metal Gear Solid as well. And, basically, any Japanese-centric game (which the Xbox 360 will have almost none of).
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5DoA is a great series in it's own, but VF4 blows it out of the water. I'm pumped to hear that VF5 is coming out on the 360...a good fighter that isn't very forgiving to the button mashers!! Woot!
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12YES.
Another headshot to SONY. I can't lie, I am loving this. The power advantage illusion of BD and Cell+RSX is not fading away.
and this is only part one of two; it'll be even funnier when the 360 will have a better framerate... oh, you know it !!! - LesbianHam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9omg, not another one. "the graphics are far superior to that of the competition"? Are you having a f*cking laugh?
I can not believe what Sony has done with the PS3 hype-machine. I used to have a genuine respect for Sony, my TV is Sony and so are a few other electronics in my house, but Sony's game department has really taken the cake this last decade.
Technical comparisons of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 all agree unanimously that the 360 has a more capable graphics processing unit - therefor its ability to produce graphics of a better quality is higher.
Yet another person who has bought in to the ***** Sony's been feeding, just to keep people from buying 360s, which are out, and hold out for the PS3. In a few months, when all the shortages are over, people will see that the 360 does, indeed, have a better GPU. Wether the games released will utilise the full power of the GPUs is another question, but the fact remains that the 360 is capable of better graphics - not least because of the fact that it has double the RAM allocated to its GPU than the PS3 does.
Don't get me started on blu-ray (Have you seen the XBLA games? They're capped at 50MB max! 50GB my ass.)
Oh, and I was never pro-xbox or anti-sony about a decade ago (before M$ even entered the market), but right now, Sony is leaving me with no option. Microsoft's humbleness does surprise me, but wins major kudos in my books. - joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There goes the one PS3 exclusive I actually cared about.
Nice to finally see the VF series move to more than one platform at a time! - lowfalls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Maybe you should abandon all contact with the outside world and stay up in your ivory tower all day long.
- buckynekkid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@staticneuron
The developers have repeatedly said that the lag introduced via online play would make the game not VF anymore. So until there is no lag in online play don't expect a title called "Virtua Fighter" to offer online multiplayer. They have said that they have thought about making an online multiplayer fighter, but it would not carry the VF mantle. - Aldur, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@ilyag
MSG 3 didn't come to XBox because ps2 had 80 million (hasty crappy estimate) consoles on the ground, and the xbox was already dieing. This time around the ps3 will have maybe 5 million (hasty unsubstantiated overly optimistic estimate) consoles. If they want to make money it just makes sense to release on the 360 as well. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It's on every major gaming news website in the world right now, and many of the sites include the press release straight from Sega.
I agree that the original link may not be the greatest, but trying to say this story is inaccurate is, well, inaccurate. - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Exclusive" means it will never appear anywhere else, for this generation. You sign contracts that stipulate certain terms, and certain amounts of money and resources may be exchanged as well. People don't just give their game to one platform (unless nobody else is interested, which is not the case with VF5). Still, the PS3 still has a very large window before the 360 version arrives.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8monkeyflingpoo:
Yes, like the original Xbox got Metal Gear Solid 3? Oh wait, it didn't... - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was kind of skeptical, but bunches of people are reporting this. Team Xbox has the full press release on their site.
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12476/SEGA-Announces-Virtua-Fighter-5-for-Xbox-360/ - monkeyflingpoo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11Naw... Xbox 360 will get MGS4 too... it's just a matter of time.
- ZackScott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I would be interested to see a list of exclusive comparisons for the XBox360, PS3, and the Wii. Maybe have it labeled exclusive and true exclusive.
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The site has the press release in the article. So why is it innacurate?
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't have a 360 (yet). But I thought VF4 was probably one of the best beat-em-ups I've ever played, so once I get a 360, VF5 will probably be on my shopping list.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3DO NOT WANT.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5if MGS 4 Goes... there the ps3 down the drain.
i want ps3 to survive but there need to do more then just talk - we need action - whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Rare owns it.
And may bring it to the xbox360. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4True, but as far as I can tell, all three PS2 Tekken entries have outsold VF4.
I agree that VF4 was a great game - I really need to put down Zelda and play it some more - but it's not a chart blockbuster here in the states. - insomniac8400, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Not when they can't sell as many ps3's as 360s or wiis. It's definitely looking like it's going to be a lot harder for sony to keep any exclusive deals without paying heavily out of their own pocket.
- robbyt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I agree, digg comments are often upto par with the 12 year olds that clog most video game and computer sites.
But the thing is, telling them this is like telling your dog that he's a dog. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that site has not been updated since before TGS 06. Many more games were announced since then and the PS3 (not surprisingly) has a larger amount of japanese 3rd party exclusives.
- MaynardJK, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@BearOwned
Sony should be losing sleep over this. Companies like Capcom and Konami could be next to give up exclusivity which would be the final nail in the coffin for the PS3. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Aldur:
Or, it could be the more logical explanation that Metal Gear Solid 2 didn't sell well on the Xbox, and the reason for that was because Xbox gamers weren't as interested in this franchise as PlayStation gamers, for whom Metal Gear Solid 2 was one of the top reasons they got their console in the first place.
Konami might also consider not releasing Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360 because the competition is so goddamn intense from all the outstanding Tom Clancy games that are in the same genre, which are all Xbox 360 bestsellers (and yet MGS sold poorly because Xbox gamers had their fill of stealth action games already)
Regardless, Splinter Cell 5 (which is the closest competitor to MGS) will be exclusive to Xbox 360, and MGS4 will probably stay exclusive to PS3, so while people may not be able to play both games, they'll certainly still be able to play an outstanding stealth combat game from either of these two great franchises. - ryllharu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@BearOwned
What is one of the biggest fighting franchises in Japan? VF. Even if it's still on both systems, it's just one more reason that gamers over there may want to invest in the slightly more affordable 360 over the PS3. -
