This was hardly an official pricing announcement that the company is going to commit to. I'll believe it when I see it, my guess is $449.

What a lame thing to say! If the Xbox 360 was going from an 800MHz processor (processor speed of the regular xbox) to a 900MHz processor I could see where the 1.5 would be appropriate, ( I am using the processor as an example) but, were are talking about a combined processing power of almost 10ghz in the 360, how could anyone with a brain make such a stupid statement!!
I am not a fan of M$ in any way shape or form, heck! I am a Linux user. but, I don't walk around with Linux blinders on, you shouldn't walk around with Sony blinders.
the Xbox 360 is a heck of a gaming machine compared to the Xbox, Sony will come out with a really nice comparable machine as well, they will both have their pluses and minuses.
and by the way, what happened to all those people that were complaining about the price of the 360 being not worth it for a game machine?? why aren't they here making the same statements about the possible PS3 price??
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think Nintendo is going to eat the market alive with their new console.. They are the only innovaters out there anymore. They invented the D-Pad and button layout, Analog Stick, Rumble features, Native wireless controllers and the Light Gun which have all become mainstreamed and completely normal designs that all developers use. Their next technology, the Gyroscopic controller, is going to do the same. You will soon see makers abusing this technology and employing it in their new controllers eventually so that your reactions will further immerse you into the game you are playing.
Nintendo's console is also going to be the only one that is said to be "affordable for all gamers and nongamers alike" according to Nintendo. That alone tells you someone has the right idea...
PS: I'm not just a Nintendo fan boy... Alright, so I am. I love Nintendo and everything they do because it's new and fresh, but you people that don't like em cuz they are "kiddie" need to grow up yourselves as they offer plenty of non-kiddie material. Their stuff is just fun and refreshing, and on one console you can always have more fun with their games on one television screen than the others. News flash.... 99% of the population doesn't care about the rootkit. The Sony Store at the local mall is just as packed today as it was before the rootkit story hit. The PS3 will still probably be the top selling next gen console (making sony three-peat console dominance).

They share revenue. Supporting SCEA or SCEI pays the same saleries as Sony-BMG. People that support companies like sony are the same mindless people who eat at McDonalds, Shop at Wal-Mart and vote yes on THE PATRIOT ACT.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0personally i like to call the gamecube "gaypube" just because i was dumb enough to purchace one so i have it mock me with its gaypubeeness while it's sitting on the floor with 30 games surrounding it and a wavebird. i always go to a friend's house to play xbox or ps2 just to get away from it. going on my pc and playing doom3 doesn't do it for me because i have the blasted thing in the same room. so-not has to be the dumbest thing i have ever heard. atleast call the xbox, sexbox (which is what one of my friends renamed his xbox to with doa3). 360 isn't too impressive at this moment in time, but the ps3 will never be impressive. perhaps one good game will come out for it, and i hope another GTA doesn't come out. it is the same thing over and over again. the graphics barely improved, and did not bring on a new game experience. i guess people would say the same thing about halo for the xbox. but let me give you a clue. it IS different. that is just like saying doom 2 and doom 3 are the same thing. ps3 will die simply because it is overpriced more than the xbox is. even though it will be around the same price, you are paying the same, for less. although you do get a free wireless vibrater for all you girls and guys who are gay enough to buy the stupid thing. get the 360 now while the prices are high. no better time. they won't drop until the ps3 comes out, and buy again then. you might aswell. if you are going to buy a ps3 when it comes out, you may aswell buy another 360 seeing as it will be better, and cheaper than "so-not"'s product. also, don't buy gamecube. it will only sit there and mock you.

XBox vs PS3 head-to-head: they split the market with no clear winner.
Stagger the release years, people can have both platforms. MS and Sony both win.
I expect, and am planning for, a release price of $400 to $500. Start saving up now. $50 a month = PS3 at holiday 06. Not a bad deal when you factor in the Blu-Ray.
And analog signals may be off the air in 09, but any TV one buys for over $1000 is a digital TV. Heck, mine was $1500 (Sony 34" XBR). I was not affected in the least bit by the rootkit, but i feel that in order to get the message across to a company, you have to hit them where it hurts.......in sales.
Imagine if the ps3 fails due to the rootkit. When you look at their objectives they are down right disturbing.
They are using the PS3 + TV combo as their answer to the open internet (their single greatest threat).
For games I'll consider the Revolution (I already have 3 DVD players so MS and Sony aren't listening to me). For music I use my iPod and for internet access I use my Mac and generic PC.
And as a result of this rootkit mess my next TV will be a Panasonic. This isn't a boycott, those are temporary. In my case this is a refusal to believe that Sony even exists. -
