- born, on 10/12/2007, -10/+30It's just that tech culture embraces change and likes to challenge the status quo. Thus, the top dog is always a target, regardless of how good its products are. Thus digg's antagonism of Sony. And love of Nintendo.
Here, wii all believe in the Revolution. - redxii, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23http://blog.monkeymethods.org/images/billgates02.jpg

When will enough be enough. It's starting to get old already. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14NO, Please! I need more AJAX tutorials!!!!!!!!!!
- thetanbark, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22The guy says it himself in the interview, "That's an obsession!" RTFA before making a full jackass out of yourself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Howard Stringer: Honey, let's have Xbox tonight.
Howard Stringer's wife: umm.. don't you mean "sex"?
Howard Stringer: That's what I said, let's have sex tonight.
Howard Stringer's wife: I'm leaving you. - millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I love how he was practically patting himself on the back for Da Vinci Code. Sony had very little to do with the movie, they're just the publisher (it could have been published by anyone, but Sony won the bid). The credit should go to Dan Brown and Ron Howard.
- Kazenodeku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Lack of greed in a corporate environment? You speak fantasy nonsense. Everything is done for money.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Funny thing is digg had a very pro-sony thing going on for a while (back when they announced the cell processor). I'm not sure when the digg opinion fell against sony - was it the rootkit fiasco, the pricing, excitement over the wii - or what? The weird thing is the ps3 may actually end up being an amazing system. I wish people on digg would give it more of a chance.
- yihpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5genuinely side splitting
freudian slip anyone? - piratearggghhh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sounds like a man crush to me. Reminds me of the wife in American Beauty admiring the competition - that King of Real Estate guy....hopefully it won't lead to that.
- radison2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8so true.....let's get back to posting ubuntu HowTos people! Personally I'd like to see one done on how to apt-get upgrade. I can never figure out the command to do that.
- digdugdig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I predict there will be a backlash against the negative wall around Sony, and that by the time PS3 is launched, most of the negativity is forgotten.
It was a funny slip, and he handled it well, I think. - UltimateFlynn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It's an interview with WSJ so the fact that it made money is what they want to emphasize.
- jwoelich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You might just be onto something! Wow..!
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Howard Stringer started in Sony pictures didnt he?
On a different topic, he's the first non japanese to run the company. Could it be possible that the current string of events are made by the lower heads to show to the company board that Howard isnt fit to lead? - jposh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i'm just happy he gives bill gates some credit as to how he runs a company. this rich guy is totally being humbled by another rich guy! WOW
- HPSauce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ever since Stringer has taken over as head of Sony, things have gone from bad to impossibly worse for them, in all areas; rootkits, PS3 - I know he was there to cut costs, but surely that could have been done without sacking the previous guy?
I wouldn't be surprised if Stringer had an allegiance to MS :) - RAT-Man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Non story. And Sony even had a X-Men-ish poster at E3.
- lame_duck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5SEE!!! I wasn't the only one thinking that. lol
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And then the CEO of Sony will end up sleeping with Bill Gates, and then will plan on shooting the president of Sony but the ceo of panasonic will do it first. Exciting!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7"... look it's got more bells and whistles than a 747. "
HA. the 747 is an old model...
in your face sony! - dharm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@juanbobo808
whats really funny is people are going to be argueing what you said is true - jpwhitmore, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7reported as lame, the guy had a slip of the tongue... whoopdi *****
- superdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hahaha that's pretty hilarious. dugg!
- Dari, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Is that a floppy disk in your pocket, or... ;)
- themacx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4the original title of the article...... "Shaking Up Sony" hmm no not funny... lets make it..."Sony CEO Obsessed with Xbox 360, Bill Gates" ow and pull things out of context... "Look, the skill of Bill Gates is he's so brilliant" ever heard of sarcasm?? this is what he said right after that..
""Look, the skill of Bill Gates is he's so brilliant at his detail that when he slips in the salesmanship, most of us think: oh my God, he must be right. ... He talked on the one hand, and I loved it, he talked about [Windows] Vista [being] delayed as if delay was normal, and then he started mocking me for delaying PS3 [PlayStation 3]."
So what was he saying... i think all he said that Gates is a good spin-doctor.... a good liar. Nice to know when you have a 360. - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like lame things. Dugg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Um...ok...
- dementedcrabs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Proof that Bill Gates has mind control powers. But I'm sure that the makers of the consoles Sony/MS/Nintendo all have some interest in the competitor's consoles. I guess stringer likes the 360, least he is being honest which is hard to find in big business now.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Riiiiidge Racer!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This just in...
Digg members read too much into everything! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw XBox 3 the other day, it was okay. The secret clip after the credits roll makes up for the lack of directing.
Wait, no it didn't. - Thorlord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it is a baised title, but frankly i have seen more lies out of sony than microsoft,
though i see more greed from microsoft than sony. but i think Blu-Ray may change that. - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3and all those personal loans will be amazing for the bank, and the fact you can get more value from a wii and 360 for (in aus at least) less cost
- snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ugh, this is one of the dumbest submissions I've seen on Digg for a while.
- lame_duck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Better yet: Is that a parallel port dongle in your pocket or are you happy to syn me?
- Flynnz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4"Funny thing is digg had a very pro-sony thing going on for a while (back when they announced the cell processor). Well I kinda agree, but at the same time I think there is more to it than that. I think a lot of gamers are pissed about all the hype for PSP, but in the end not enough good games. People were also very pissed at the pre-rendered movies being past off as actual gameplay for PS3. ....rookit of course...All the formats that Sony keeps pushing on us (which adds confusion and doubt to the consumer). Then after seeing the PS3 in realtime, a lot of people are saying that it is on par or only slightly better than the 360 in terms of power. The price of the PS3, and the fact they are forcing you to buy a blueray based device. plus just seeing how MS and Nintendo seem to just "get it" when watching press conferences at E3 compared to Sony. You add all that up, and I think that's why people are not really rooting for the PS3 (pun intended :) ) - xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1LOL.
- 23MAL, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3All I can say is LOL
- juanbobo808, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4AMFG, he d1dn'7!111!!!1!
He meant it, he really did!
/sarcasm
...but on a more serious note, digg isn't a F**king playground for National Enquirer-esque articles. Also reported -- but as innacurate. The guy didn't say he was obsessed with Xbox, he was merely making a joke, the title is completely misleading. Any non-english reader can see that, why can't we who read english realize it as well? - scairborn, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2What the hell?
- radison2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3never mind about the apt-get upgrade howto.....it's been done
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_HowTo:_Using_apt-get_upgrade_(a_full_tutorial) - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5anyone else think this is kinda creepy?
- Thorlord, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3THIS is how you earn my respect sony.
you dont lie all the time
you dont insult your opponents.
you just tell everyone what we already know, and then actually be HONEST.
it would be nice if microsoft could get out of the whole "F**K sony" stage, but i admit, i hate sony alot, mainly for their immaturity, but to actually see a CEO not act like a douchebag and say that the competition isint retarted.. well that restores some of that long gone "Playstation" fanboy that i grew up as.
*sigh* if only they werent so greedy. - gruz, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1i think he confused "box office sales" with xbox sales, then was embarrassed. maybe he had xbox on his mind.
- Clbck, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3It's funny how bad posts look when they lack apostrophe's.
- bobeotm, on 10/12/2007, -26/+12@thetanbark
How hard is it to see that the dude is joking. I read the article before it was even dugg, and I got that he was joking around. Apparently you didnt. So maybe you shoud RTFA with a little bit of english comprehension before you bother trying to correct someone else. -
