- ShadowMarth, on 01/11/2009, -0/+43Mm. Decent list. Still, MMOs are pretty notorious about getting delayed, or falling apart in development. Would be surprised if 2/3 of these come out in 2009.
- itsJALbert, on 01/11/2009, -0/+381-10 = 2009 games.
1-4 at the end are future projects with no release date. - Shawkab, on 01/11/2009, -3/+38dugg for Darkfall
- joshcollie, on 01/11/2009, -4/+38Just incase of digg effect.

5. Stargate Worlds
6. Free Realms
7. Aion
8. Lego Universe (o_0)

10. Warrior Epic - TheLoneWolf071, on 01/11/2009, -5/+36Are any of them WoW? Didn't think so :D
WoW's popularity already is what gives it the edge, and I think it'll take a hell of a lot to dethrone it... but I've been a wow player for 2 years and I gotta say, it's boring as ***** now... when the cap was 60, that was it, but with 2 expansions, and a ***** load of XP to be gained, it's 80 levels of the same *****, over and over, and it's just too much work for a leisure activity IMHO. - newerakb, on 01/11/2009, -0/+21Darkfall is my last hope for MMO's for awhile. I'm sick to death of level-based games with no depth or risk. I loved WoW for awhile, but after that it's been nothing but crap.
I'm hoping for Darkfall to be as great and complex as SWG, BUT with the caveat that it has a combat system that isn't attrocious. - Jonnybin123, on 01/11/2009, -18/+38Why does this list go from 1 to 10... and then 1 to 4?
- grungegbunny, on 01/11/2009, -7/+27Star Trek *drool*
- FFXIfrohike, on 01/11/2009, -7/+27This is so terribly written. Sorry, not digging it up :(
- Ytse, on 01/11/2009, -1/+152009 is the year for developers to make their move. There have been some decent MMORPGs released lately, but let's face it, it's still all about WoW. But Wow is over four years old now. Granted, WotLK was just released, but based on a dated (though still great) engine.
It could be one of the MMORPGs listed or something completely off the radar, but I think if a good enough game comes along this year, it could be "the new WoW." Definitely going to be interesting to see what happens this year... - Beatmiser, on 01/11/2009, -0/+14Why did you not bother to read the article that explained it very easily?
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -2/+15Stargate Worlds FTW
- Twenty, on 01/12/2009, -5/+18[After roommate has been doing same thing in WoW for over an hour]
"So what're you doing?"
"Trying to get to the top of this mountain"
"Oh what happens at the top?"
"Nothing. You just climb back down."
And that's pretty much WoW. - inactive, on 01/11/2009, -0/+13No, I think he means he would be.
- GarmaZed, on 01/11/2009, -1/+14I am a big fan of NCSoft and some of their work, I've been playing Guild Wars off and on ever since it was released. I'll probably give Aion a try later this year, but I'm excited for the GW2 beta supposedly later this year, too.
- ladofdestiny, on 01/11/2009, -1/+12Hi Frank...
- NinjaPig, on 01/11/2009, -2/+13Where is Guild wars 2? How about shin megami tensei online?
- Treason, on 01/11/2009, -1/+11Champions Online FTW
- Jaydo, on 01/12/2009, -0/+10Indeed.
- claralyn, on 01/11/2009, -0/+10Why can't Digg get a well-written gaming article on the front page for once?
- Tyrghast, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9I quit my 4 year + love affair with WoW three days ago, and I really hope some of these new MMO's can fill the void.
- FasterGun, on 01/12/2009, -1/+10You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
- WhiteHamster, on 01/11/2009, -1/+10Can i still be Garth?
- punchinelli, on 01/11/2009, -5/+14WoW is just flat out boring now. I'm willing to settle for an MMORPG that isn't as "perfect" as WoW - as long as it's fun and doesn't have horrible controls and combat mechanics like many others out there.
- newerakb, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9I tend to think of vaporware as software that never gets released. Darkfall comes out in a few weeks.
- etruscan, on 01/12/2009, -0/+8I've been burned by NCSoft too many times. Aion does look good, but I'm wary of that company. I've played a LOT of MMO's, and I mean a lot. I'm in a kind of MMO-limbo at the moment, longing for the good ol' days, but not seeing much of anything interesting.
For my money, the Star Wars Old Republic MMO has potential, as does the Stargate Worlds MMO. Blizzard, because they're Bliz, could score another one... especially if it's a Starcraft MMO, and I'm optimistic about the Star Trek MMO.
...basically, anything that starts with "Star-" has a chance this year. - thomeff, on 01/12/2009, -1/+9You're Ron Burgundy?
- Ashkc88, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8Doesn't matter, it's all on one page.
- thebrok3nsystm, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9I am surprised that Champion's Online wasn't anywhere on the list. It has really been impressing me so far in alpha tests. Expect it to give the super hero MMO market a needed make over.
- mike81890, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9yes... this comment makes truth.
- Khast, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8For the trivia buffs out there. The first graphical MMO.

- billjimbob, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8Are you a robot?
- Th1rte3n, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8Somehow, I found the list's poor grammar hilarious.
"Hopefully, there will be more information of what features this game will bring and also I would like to know what are they going to do about Galaxies. Have you heard of that game? Star Wars Galaxies." This had me cracking up. - meleemaster500, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6FusionFall? that's one weird looking ed edd and eddy.... and dexter....
- bizkit00, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6When kids turn in school papers with "r u going to the store?", we have to work together to stop the downfall of the language.
- calebh, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6One of the few MMORPGs I would pay for.
- Needles13, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6Finally one of these lists mentions Darkfall.
- joshuaer, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6That's why i stopped playing wow it has been 2 months now i just can not take the grinding any more but i still miss online gaming.
- akawraith, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Diablo 3 ftw
- handheldchimp, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Im still waiting for "World of World of Warcraft: The World of Warcraft Realm"...
- Ares545, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6Nope. As stated gear won't make you automatically be amazing at PvP.
In addition, gear isn't a serious addition. Thus, losing it as a noob barely makes a difference. - rkho, on 01/11/2009, -3/+8This is such a ***** list written with poor grammar and stupidity.
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -3/+8Runescape was never a good game.
Runescape was always the best time-waster. - fortune500b, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5After quitting WoW i thought I'd never play an MMO ever again
but now i'm not so sure - joshuaer, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6I think Stargate will be better I just do not see Star Trek as a good game.
- wafflesomd, on 01/12/2009, -0/+5grindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrindgrind.
- Evi1d33d, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6I really look forward to this MMO called 'LOVE', it's kinda like a MMO version of LittleBigPlanet.
http://www.quelsolaar.com/ - nwoantibody, on 01/11/2009, -6/+11To be frank, the only 2 I would buy are the next SE MMORPG and Blizz's new mmorpg; that's it.
- Frozo, on 01/11/2009, -3/+8Sure, its boring to the hardcore player who lives on WOW. But for the majority of players, there is still plenty to see and experience.
