We did Apu playing this 60-button controller and songs like Pour Some Curry On Me - we made this wonderful parody poster and the guys from Harmonix loved it and we sent them 20 copies of the poster. They just loved it so much."
- WITFITS, on 10/10/2007, -2/+111Maybe Rockstar needs to send Jack Thompson after them. No, wait...
- Shrubber, on 10/10/2007, -0/+97It's nice to see someone upsetting Rockstar for a change, instead of the other way around. :P
...Just kidding. - Crazymaniacc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+73this one is the grand theft scratchy one: http://blog.ugo.com/images/uploads/gtsimpsons.jpg
But where is the Sitar Hero?? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+71http://www.destructoid.com/elephant//ul/13769-nosc ...
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/10/2007, -10/+73Article summary: There was a poster of 'Grand Theft Scratchy' at a games convention. Someone (the article suggests that it was someone from Rockstar, but didn't say it as fact) asked for the poster to be taken down.
THE END.
What a dull story. - str3ama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+43seeing as how R* is all about parodies, the game is ripe with social/cultural commentary so I highly doubt the actual team involved in creating the game would take offence to a parody or commentary on them, it never mentions that the complainer was even from R* - it could just as easily been Jack Thompson or anyone else for that matter. If they have proof that it was some one from R* well that's just stupid on R*'s part .. but again lack of sources or credible info.
- BlitzacE, on 10/10/2007, -3/+45youd think rockstar would be able to take a joke
unless its JT's time of the month again... - chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -5/+42Rockstar is full of jerks. Do a search and look for ex-employee's stories.
example: http://badasscat.blogspot.com/2007/07/rockstar.htm ... - twrife, on 10/10/2007, -1/+35It actually sounds like a decent game. Hopefully they don't water it down though.
- nape, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30they should have done Grand Theft Otto, and he's a bus driver anyway so it works out well. maybe rockstar was mad cuz "Grand Theft Scratchy" isn't clever.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28Did The Simpsons: Hit & Run really bother them *that* much??
- Prelude76, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22is that the same book where you surrounded your mom's name with gold stars, champ?
- chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24that should be .html not .htm but for some reason digg is cutting the last letter off.
- daridave, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Honestly, I love Rockstar-made games, but they do are crybabies. This isn't the first time that company sounds off, and it's often annoying. If it wasn't for their great games, they would probably get on many more people's nerves.
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19I personally liked Hit and Run over GTA.
- MerryMortician, on 10/10/2007, -7/+24Holy ***** that was funny. I haven't expected anything REALLY funny from the Simpsons in years and that was funny my friend!
- Gustomucho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14http://blog.ugo.com/images/uploads/gtsimpsons.jpg
- felman87, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I played the demo and its promising. Definitely one of the best simpsons game, though that doesn't say much.
- ivorysky, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15I'm sorry, but that has got to be the dullest comment I've ever read on here. Stop it with your insights into the gaming industry!
- bj00rn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Sound dubious to me. One guy does not equal an entire company does it...?
- Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Ah... theres my new desktop wallpaper.
- sacherjj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Stack Overflow. Exiting...
- bajesus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11That whole article read like a Ray Liotta voice-over. Very interesting though.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I know. Rockstar Table Tennis was way too sexually ambiguous.
- ayeroxor, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14"Simpson's Game Upsets Rockstar"
Who is Simpson, and why does his game upset Rockstar? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8rtfa
- crashingechelon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Yeah, it's almost like they're the kid at school that picks on everyone but as soon as someone picks on them, they run away crying.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10you suck
- mlvassallo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8So a game company like Rock Star whose games are full of parody is upset that the Simpsons game is parodying them?
I guess GTA is SERIOUS BUSINESS! - ByteGuerilla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7And for every one of those bad things, there are 10 more bad things.
- bubba9999, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8That is freaking ridiculous. For every good that lawyers have done, there are 10 bad things.
- Jonsend, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Don't forget they did nothing about Saint's Row which wasn't even a parody, just a cash-in.
- nape, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6OJ.
- CraigKostelecky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Agreed. The guys who actually make GTA are awesome. But their PR people and lawyers simply suck. I learned that first hand after the whole Hot Coffee fiasco. The developers loved the work the modding community was doing, but the legal guys at Rockstar just did not know how to handle it.
- da_bradler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Oh come on, somebody asked them to take down a poster this isn't really news, it was most likely just one rockstar lawyer(or maybe it was an event official) just doing there own thing, I doubt 95% of the people at Rockstar would care.
- TjLAXattack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Grimdotdotdot, please consider a career in journalism. I would much rather read stories more like I actually process them.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Doesn't say much?! Did he-.. DOESN'T SAY MUCH?! You need to go back and play the classics my friend!
Bart vs The Space Mutants, Bart's Nightmare, and Virtual Bart are all timeless classics! If this new simpsons game is good it will be in good company. - Xanadude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Simpsons Road Rage" was a lot of fun, too.
- Jon771, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5for real
- ReXorcist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That was 'Road Rage', 'Hit and Run' was a GTA clone.
- tmpoirier, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4dugg for "Pour some curry on me"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4There's no apostrophe in "Simpsons."
- skinrock, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Maybe they just thought it was offensive, and had nothing to do with R*. I love how they have no idea who it was, but because it was a parody of GTA, it must have been R*. They just don't seem like the type to do that. And if it was them, they really need to grow up, especially after they were the first to start a rivalry with Driver:
"Rockstar North had started the rivalry with a mission in Grand Theft Auto III called "Two Faced Tanner" in which players had to kill an undercover cop who was "useless out of his car", a reference to Driver 2's game play (they even went so far as to give the pseudo Tanner a female's walking animation)." - Bing11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Rockstar was offended by a game? Isn't the premise of GTA gang wars, shooting cops, running over people, prostitution and drugs? If it WASN'T one of their lawyers I've lost a lot of respect for them... not that they had a lot to begin with.
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They also say they've had to remove stuff from the game. They don't say that's related to the Rockstar thing though.
- jonnyeh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Good? The only good that a lawyer can do is protect you from other lawyers.
- unearth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I honestly doubt its better than Bart's Nightmare
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Why would you quit making console games just to work on crappy cellphone games?
Okay, I realize that video game programmers are essentially slaves. Maybe it's a lot better programming for phones. But phone games suck. - DeFex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Kill all lawyers.
