- inkbomb, on 10/12/2007, -14/+63he is a GOD
- Mewchu11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28That title and description there read like a eulogy. For a second I was afraid something awful had happened...
Thank goodness that day isn't today though. Long live Shiggy! - LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25A very happy one at that! He's always trying to make everyone happy, even those that don't even use his products. THAT'S the makings of the greatest video-game maker ever.
- Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24"Shigeru Miyamoto" the title guarenteed to get you frontpage.
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If anyone can make more people realize that there is an art in creating games that are fun and addictive and don't have to be violent and bloody, its Miyamoto. He consistly pumps out quality games that don't rely on anything but pure gameplay. His work is the pinnacle of video games.
- TheRealDj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Wouldn't the wiki entry on him have way more info than this article?
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16I'll digg out of respect.
- dheaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes Miyamoto = God. I'm so happy I had the chance to meet him once.
- Henry187, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13As for someone who owns a Zelda fan-site, I have to agree with inkbomb's "he is a GOD" statement.
I've never really been a fan of Donkey Kong, but his many other games have had a great impact on me, other fans, and the gaming industry in general. When he retires, hopefully Nintendo will still have that momentum that they've had with Miyamoto's envisioning truth towards games, controllers, and systems. - felyduw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Are you really serious? If you are, I'm truly sorry for you.
- airmann90, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@inkbomb
No he isn't... he IS god. - bobbagoose, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yes, i thought it was a eugoogillie too, or did you think I was too stupid to know what a eugoogillie was?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Shut.the.*****.up
- Shanobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5His influence has reached beyond the game industry, too. As a comic artist, I have found that the sense of discovery and exploration in his games has led me to a place creatively where I wish to bring that same magic to others, albeit in a completely different format.
I was thinking about dedicating the second issue of my book to Stanley Kubrick, but I think issue 2 will go to Miyamoto, and the late great director will get issue 3. - utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shigeru_Miyamoto
There's also a Wikiquote page: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Shigeru_Miyamoto - standing8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6There would be no Playstation or Xbox if it wasn't for Miyamoto. So fanboys pay your respects.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Now if only the other gaming bosses could be as pleasent and humble as Miyamoto. The Americans are hell bent on eating each other, but Miyamoto just wants to do his job as best as possible and bring joy to lots of people through gaming.
- 1iProd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Truely an inspirational dude. You go Miyamoto!
- SolipsismX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yes, Shiggy rules, but this isn't news
- terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Miyamoto's not really a gaming boss. Iwata is the boss, but he's the only boss of the Big 3 who's actually designed a game. Actually he's designed a pile of successful games and even started out as a coder. This gives him a lot of insight into what developers need, which is why his consoles (the DS/DS lite and Wii were his projects) are so successful.
This has been a PSA by the Society for the Recognition that Iwata is Pretty Sweet. - straxus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Right. Because LoZ(NES) and LoZ:TP(Wii) have so much in common. I mean, they are essentially the same game right? You obviously don't 'get' the appeal that these characters and worlds hold for the rest of us, and that's fine. But the reason these games continue to appeal to people is because although the characters (that we love) remain constant, the gameplay is constantly evolving. Of all of the games over the past 25 years that Mario has starred in, there have only been FIVE games with the traditional 'Super Mario Brothers' gameplay. (SMB1, SMB2(lost levels), SMB3, SMWorld, and New SMB)
Rinse, Lather, Repeat indeed. Spoken like someone watching Nintendo from the outside, rather than having any first hand experience with the games. - TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Miyamoto is very cool, and I appreciate everything he does... but why is his biography on the front page of digg? I mean, he rules beyond belief, but this isn't news at all...
- majortom1981, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree with some of the other posters. Yes Miyamoto is a God but this is not news or anything. Just a short bio on him why is it on here?
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is stupid, they just got this from the bio at the nintendo GDC press kit

If your going to post a prewritten bio made by someone else, at least write it in your own words. - chingy1788, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Miyamoto is the God of Gaming
- Shanobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It does read like a eulogy, and I was really hoping for more about his life, philosophy, and art.
Oh well... - larrykoopa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This guy owns.
- HexInfinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Note: commenting will bring flame to your porch, courtesy of loyal followers of video game factions at war.
- ChicksWithDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1A Miyamoto biography that anybody can look up on Wikipedia if he cares gets over 500 diggs? I smell spam...
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Digg doesn't care about your gaming habits.
- VVCephei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Shigeru Miyamoto doesnt change facial expression.
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@diggitydugged
don't post that you agree.. thats what the thumbs up button is for. - JSchroeder, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7I agree. Seems like somebody's 9th grade English homework.
- peppaz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Clearing the air... I am not a nintendo fanboy... However I can see many of those reading these comments are a fanboy of sorts, and don't appreciate anyone talking good about the brand they don't like.
perhaps the Sony or always anonymous Microsoft fanboys are tired of seeing Wii news on Digg...
Well, write a letter to Sony and tell them to stop ***** up the ps3 more than they already did.
Eat a dick, blu-ray. If i want a blu-ray player ill go ***** buy one. - chingy1788, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2again
throat forcing - peppaz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5I'm 22, and an avid video gamer since I was old enough to hold a controller. Zelda, Mario, and Metroid have changed my life, and definitely for the better. Why is it that we play the same games over and over again? Because they are That Much Fun. I own a PSP, and I run homebrew on it simply so I can carry around with me EVERY NES, SNES, and Genesis game ever made. I haven't bought a new PSP game in a year, because they all suck for the most part. I would rather keep playing Link to the Past, or the first Metroid, or Final Fantasy 1 (NES) and 2 (SNES). They do not make games like these anymore, and I don't care what anyone says. I just bought a used copy of Metroid Prime Hunters for my DS lite, and was appalled at how little the game captures the essence of what a Metroid game is supposed to be. I am aware that Miyamoto did not design Metroid, however it is because of him that Nintendo successfully turned from a trading car company into one of the best, if not most prolific, video game companies.
Miyamoto, you rock. - DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6as will I
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Um...he hasn't died or anything has he?? So why is this sprite of a bio on the front page, hmm?
He is a good game designer of cutesy platfomers, and?....my Mum makes great Apple pie..and? - gamesmonk, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Miyamoto would never have got into the games industry without the help of gamesmonk.com! That's obviously a complete lie but we a are commited to making the games industry better so have a look. The Gamesmonk Team – www.gamesmonk.com
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Well, yes, this is Digg or more accurately, Nintendo Fantastic Fan-Boys Fanny Fan-club Forum.
- chingy1788, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Miyamoto making everyone Happy, providing us with what we want,
while Sony's CEO and others are forcing bluray down our throats, knowing that 80% of the population doesn't have a HD TV... - Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Yeah they are just forcing it down your throat, i was like "man i wish i could find and HD dvd or a regular dvd movie around here" but NO nothing but blu ray everywhere.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -17/+7Gaming News?
Hell, does this even belong on Digg? - MrFlesh, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2Are you serious? Mario and zelda..........lather, rinse, repeat for 20 years makes someone great?
- MrFlesh, on 10/12/2007, -28/+1Honestly mario and zelda are played out. It's like how the U.S. still pats itself on the back for the Apollo program...it's so far in the past it doesn't matter anymore.

What is Digg?
