- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38Great news. Shadow was very good, but ICO was incredible-possibly one of my favorite game experiences ever.
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Rain of terror yours was submitted after his, thus i'm giving yours the dupe status and this one a digg.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Team ICO has done a great job of creating very convincing worlds even in the earlier days of the PS2. It's exciting to think about what they'll be able to do with the horsepower of the PS3.
- Dibbz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Erm, SotC was published by Sony and I'm sure ICO was aswell. There is no possible way that this new game will go to the 360.
- LiquidTim, on 10/12/2007, -9/+35It is now officially worth buying a PS3.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26People keep saying "published by Sony"...
Team ICO is a group of people directed by Fumito Ueda. They all work for Sony Computer Entertainment.
They are first-party developers. They are totally and in every way Sony employees. Probably with little Sony badges.
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are developed (yes, and published) by Sony Computer Entertainment.
There seems to be some kind of recent social mythos that Sony doesn't develop any games at all.
This is not the case. Just thought someone should set that straight. - Kiggle, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28Fact: This game and this game alone is reason enough for me to buy a PS3. And I will buy one as soon as it comes out.
- frimsah, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28"Instead of using this as a reason to buy a horrible console by a horrible company, do as I am doing and mourn the fact that this is probably a great game by a great developer that I will never play because of their choice of console."
what are you, retarded? - Jump7Miles, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Who is dumb enough to think this is going to be on 360???
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21with what they did in shadow, pulling off the beautiful graphics, i am really looking forward to this company making something that can show some real power from the ps3. Shadow was awesome and so was Ico. Hope this makes it big too.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Hi - welcome to the gaming world. You must be new here. Team ICO makes great games. These great games are published by Sony. Can you give me a rough estimate of how likely it would be to see this game on a 360? No, no, really think about it this time.
- ErinIsADrunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19this why I bought a PlayStation 3. Team ICO is amazing and this game is almost guaranteed to be great. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the greatest games for the PS2 and there is no doubt in my mind that the next game from Fumito Ueda is going to be fantastic and push the PS3 to its limits.
- MaXiMuM32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Even though this isn't a surprising announcement it's still good to hear. I can't wait to see what they do this time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I became spoiled with my High Def 360 graphics on a giant projector... but SotC blew me away the first time I saw it on a tiny 20 inch standard def TV.
That one point in the game where you can "hide" under a ledge from a colossus was incredible. I thought I was safe... but then he freaking knelt down and stared at me! Holy crap, I've never been so freaked out in a game from something so trivial.
I really wish they could make games for a different High Def system :( - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16SOTC pushed the PS2 to the limits of its graphical capability, I am excited to see what Team ICO can do with a PS3.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17No *****, VeganG. Stop acting like an idiot. I know you aren't one.
Believe it or not, just because you play this game doesn't mean you can't play any others.
What the ***** is with you people? - TuxedoMax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Awesome news. SotC and Ico are some of the only titles that can be considered as art.
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Some people seem to think Digg is a popularity contest. It's not. Get over it.
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -13/+24Umm....MGS4?
And STFU to those that say that's it's gonna be on the 360 :P Hey, I wish it would be on the 360 too, but nothings been confirmed. - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14It's -developed- by Sony. That would be quite the paradox.
- SurrealDream, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11AGRO! AGRO! AGRO!
Could easily mistake it for a pissed off WoW player.
PS. ICO was the best impulse purchase I ever made :) - ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11It's great to see that strong Sony franchises will be carried over to the PS3.
I can't wait to enjoy all these systems and their exclusives. - zeptobyte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This team is obviously amazing, if there mere announcement of a new game is enough to make people want to buy a PS3. Without even any details.
That said, I almost have enough reasons now to justify buying a PS3. Hopefully by the summer when I'll actually buy one I'll have enough reasons. - RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It's really up to the person. And considering how many people Sony made into die-hard Xbox360 or Wii fan-boys, it's not surprising news like this gets panned around here. This isn't Sony territory.
I figure, PS2 + PS3 + Bluray player for 499 is a good deal, moreso if you don't have a 360.
If you wanted more games from a "just released console", you're an idiot. Games don't just magically appear for a system when it's released. They take time and most of all patience.
If you wanted it to be cheaper, tough. It's not that much more expensive for the 20GB model, and Sony doesn't know the meaning of the word "tard pack" like Microsoft does, so no gimping compared to the 60GB model.
If you just hate Sony and can't stand supporting them in any way, fine. I can't argue with that. They're stupid, they're unlucky as hell, and they're the perfect target for ridicule. But at least find the right reasons to bitch and moan. - JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I must have seen "Game x will probably be great but no single game is worth $600" 20 different ways by now.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Were you playing a beta version?
Actually, I noticed a lot of slowdown in the demo they sent out. This was gone in the final game. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@Bean945
When did epic become a first party dev for microsoft? - sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -11/+16Yeah, this is the only PS3 game I can think of that has me genuinely excited.
- alx242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hmm, lets say you madly enjoyed all Tarantino films. If it was to be announced that he was making a new one...would you not be happy about it? Besides nothing else is expected then them to release a new game seeing as they are hired by Sony after all.
As for the the carrot farming remark I'll let you keep your conspiracy theories to yourself. It would be quite weird if a game developer didn't continue making games when they are so successful at it, would it not? - apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4carrot farming? well, its not my thing, but those viva pinata, harvest moon-type games have their own niche too.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It would be the most epic, mysteriously emotional, incredibly atmospheric, best damn carrot farming game ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope ( although doubt ) that a sony exec. is reading these comments and then gives these guys a big pay raise.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think everyone that has played Ico and SotC expect this to be a different game. They're just commenting on how much they loved the previous two, and trust the teams ability to wow us again. Especially on this shiny new hardware.
And I don't think Ico and SotC were set in the same world, or were a sequal/prequal either way. I think they had things in common and that's it. I kinda wanted them to tie together, but there's no actual evidence of it, and Ueda has said himself that they aren't related. - standing8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope people don't expect another SotC. Besides the two games being set in the same world, both Ico and SotC are totally different games. I'm expecting something totally different from these guys, something people are not expecting. And I have a feeling that most people will be a little let down cause it's not another SotC or a game like it.
With all that said, SotC and Ico are my #1 and #2 favorite games of all time. I hold them up against anything out there. Team Ico is the best game developer in the business. They are the reason why I will buy a PS3(even though I cringe and get angry at the thought of paying $600), it will be worth it simply to play Fumito Ueda's vision. This ALONE is justification enough for me to buy a PS3. MGS4, FFXIII and the latest iteration on Hot Shots Golf(this game is my heroin) are just icing on the cake. - TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Shadows of the Colossus stands out for me as one game I could truly call art. It was a beautiful game in more ways than one. Really looking forward to seeing what team ICO envisions this time.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Don't you people get tired of being so goddamned whiny?
- opnickc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5damn. . . now I'll have to buy a PS3. I just hope the price has come down by the time the game comes out.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Simply put: It shall be epic
- dan0368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Even if they just updated SotC, I'd be ecstatic and pay $60 in a heartbeat.
- alx242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You think Sony would bring their own games to the 360...think again!
- apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3as opposed to first party games like halo, gears of war is a second party game.
gears of war was published by microsoft game studios, but epic owns the rights to the game and its IP. epic is probably under contract and can not release gears on a competitor's system due to MS fronting money for the original development of the title, but the sequel could go cross platform if they wanted. - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3alx242, I believe you're confused. first-party games -never- "flip".
Epic is not a first-party developer for anyone. That's why UT3 is coming to the PS3.
Team Ico is a first-party developer for Sony, that's why this game is exclusive.
Bungie is a first-party developer for Microsoft, that's why halo is exclusive. - sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7This has been known for a while. Still nice to see it being mentioned.
- alx242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lets say all the owners of the PS3 would buy it today...that would be about 1.86m (according to vgcharts)...and march 23 it debuts in Europe. Lets say another 1 million users. Lets say the release date for this is summer next year. Lets say another 1 million in each territory (quite low) has bought the PS3...that equals about 6 million consoles...and you still think only 4 of those 6 millions would enjoy this game....oh no wait, you where trying to make a stupid but funny point. Oh yeah right....ha ha...very funny!
Now moving right along to something relevant, facts and unbiased opinions. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3seriously, the whole "360 has games" is because it has been a YEAR after release. I have a PS3 and i do not delude myself by thinking there are 37248976278 games for it NOW. I have 2 games for the PS3 but 50 for the PS2..
- fohf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not sure why you were dugg down, I agree with you though. SoTC was a great game, but the technical side of it was extremely flawed. The frame rate was awful, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5SotC and ICO were very very fun i cannot wait to see what they will make next!
- VeyronSengh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is great news. I loved Shadow of the Colossus!
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5What? That's not even a question. How would one continue that conversation?
- InstantRamen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5ICO was a awesome game one of the best for the ps2 line up. glad there back. cant wait to hear more
