- borez, on 06/17/2009, -1/+35The rest of us said goodbye to Sonic a long time ago when the games started becoming silly.
- LocalDocal, on 06/17/2009, -0/+24Uh, the company (Sega) owns Sonic, not the president, okay? The president of Sega leaving for a new company doesn't indicate anything regarding Sega creating something for the iPhone.
....which is kind of meaningless anyway as I believe Sega already released Sonic for the iPhone.
http://kotaku.com/5263917/sonic-now-on-iphone - LilJimmyNordin, on 06/17/2009, -0/+17and all the Stur Wurs games.
- LocalDocal, on 06/17/2009, -1/+11This is likely a tired statement by now, but as someone intimately familiar with Sega's and Nintendo's 16-bit war, I'm still surprised by just how much Sega has fallen vs Nintendo's own intense success. It's been twenty years since the Genesis' release and yet you still can't ask people to name great Sega games without them saying Sonic 2. I myself haven't been a big fan of Sega since the Genesis days; I didn't even like the DreamCast that much (I actually like the N64 more than the DC). What a shame.
I would really like to read a book, online article, or just a timeline that adequately explains how Sega did so badly without attributing it all to the, undoubtedly huge, mistakes of the Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn. - nato0519, on 06/17/2009, -1/+10haha.....I think they make those games like jedi ucudemy and those other stur wurs games.
- capndan, on 06/17/2009, -1/+8LucusArts... they're the guys that made Munkey Islund and Grum Fandungo, right?
- Halsfield, on 06/17/2009, -1/+7The way sega has been doing lately, this can only be a good thing.
- badenglishihave, on 06/17/2009, -0/+6Thank God. This is probably why there is finally going to be a new Monkey Island.
- quamb, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5What ever happened to Green Hill Zone?
It's sad how pathetic Sonic has become. And how Sega continues to mess it up with each new Sonic game.
Any gamer randomly picked from digg could do a better job. - khoa1708, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5make monkey island for the iphone
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5Or Sonic Gems Collection for the Gamecube/Wii (or just emulate is with Kega Fusion).
- borez, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5Agreed, I still can't believe Sega decided in some pearl of wisdom to target 8 year olds with the Sonic series, completely leaving behind the gamers who bought and therefore made Sonic as popular as he was.
- TheWilder, on 06/17/2009, -2/+6If those doesn't help prove the legitimacy of the iPhone as an emerging gaming platform, I don't know what else will.
Although I don't know if this better reflects upon either the emergence of Ngmoco or the downfall of Sega. - camaroz06, on 06/17/2009, -1/+5I'm sorry but so far the majority of the games (not ported games like sim city) that I have played on iPhone completely bore me. Tilt this way then that way, tap a bit here. If anyone has any recommendations please reply with them.
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -0/+4The Dreamcast was good, but not the best. Don't overlook it's flaws... it did fail to get many third party publishers. Sega is not as good as Nintendo for holding up a console on their own first party titles alone.
- Pxtl, on 06/17/2009, -0/+4They need to bring back Mutul Wurriurs for the Wii shop.
- SirDinkus, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3in this article, is saying "goodbye to sonic" like saying goodbye to my first pet that had to be put down because it was old and sickly? Cause that's just horrib.... no wait, that's actually just fine. Sonic needs to be laid to rest. As my parents said "its just his time son".
Thanks for healing my traumatic childhood memories through completely unrelated articles. Digg. I love you. -Dinkus - svensksvamp, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ...
It's a bit laggy though. - fishbeef33, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3Now all we need is for the useless Sonic Team to say bye to Sonic, and maybe someone else can revitalize the franchise.
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3Salute Big Boss.
- BewareTheLamps, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3I rather like the total war series under the Creative Assembly team.
- tweek913, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3I always enjoyed Zuk McKrucken and the Aliun Mundbunders.
- socivitus, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4I think there is one, don't know if it got good or bad reviews though.
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3"no one EVER woulda thought we'd be playing console quality type games on ANY type of computer"
Yeah, maybe 10 years ago, certainly before the iPhone came out. These days, no one would be surprised if their toaster ran Crysis. (well maybe a small game :) ) - Doomsan, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4Sonic walking in the city, talking with people, WTF are you thinking SEGA? Do you see how successful Mario is? yeah, because he doesn't have 15 sidekicks and doesn't go to a city and take the subway (sorry i just played Sonic Adventure and i hated that).
- SteveThePlank, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2I'd rather have the Dreamcast 2. :(
- damnshoes, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2SAY HELLO TO DUKE NUKEM'S FIST!@!!!
- LocalDocal, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Well, it's fine if you buried me for saying that.
On the other hand, I just don't really like the games on that console. Yes, it does have a lot of great games (Jet Set, Crazy Taxi, etc) and I absolutely love the 2D fighters on it, but overall, most of the games just weren't to my taste. It also didn't help that the vast majority of the games Sega made just weren't to my taste either. - borez, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2I do indeed.
- mgander, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Yea, I said goodbye to Sonic a long time ago once he started selling out to Nintendo. Once he changed from a ferocious hedgehog to a furry little blue puff ball I was done with him.
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3Sonic CD was underrated, better than Sonic 2 IMO, worth owning a Sega CD for that one.
- WolfHook, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2That would be fantastic!
I think it is on, or coming, to Xbox Live arcade.
http://gamerblips.dailyradar.com/story/the_secret_ ... - Carlix, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Finally..
- omgwtflawl, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Sega does publish some great games. The Total War series of games has been published by Sega for a while now. Not sure about their development team.
- GuitarHeroDenn, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Y'know because when _everyone_ agrees it's the best Sonic game out there, that totally constitutes it as underrated.
- raiciego, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2a partnership with apple? or one of the worker in apple?
- Peynis, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Or, you know, a good old personal computer.
And I'm not even talking about emus or stuff...I bought a legit copy of the game for 10 bucks like 10 years ago. - Peynis, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Wow...If you hate Sonic Adventure, do yourself a favour and don't play any of the sequels. Seeeeriously.
For me, the original Sonic Adventure is still by *far* the best 3D Sonic game of them all...And while it may seem kinda silly today, having Sonic run around in a city was totally awesome back then. - falafelkiosken, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2why don't you start with fixing the issues in Sonic for iPhone?
- d4nie1, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Edge

Toy Bot Diaries - LocalDocal, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Well, I didn't say not to talk about the CD/32X/Saturn. I just meant to explain the entire story surrounding the various failures. Furthermore, I'm not sure if Nintendo has a theme park or not, but they have airplanes, automobiles, board games, and etc.
Oh, and they have a theme park too. :D

And mind you, this is all based on just one of their properties. - lukedemi, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Zenonia. Like Zelda on steroids!
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2It's iPhone OS that's the platform, not the iPhone. No device that's locked to an overpriced data plan on a single carrier will ever be a legitimate gaming platform (especially since under-18's are a primary demographic for game sales).
Luckily, iPhone OS runs on the iPod Touch. AT&T disservice is not required.
If it were just the iPhone alone, though, I'd have to disagree. Imagine if you have to pay $70 a month just to USE the Nintendo DS, before buying any games for it. - Spire3660, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Sega's #1 failure was the surprise launch of the Saturn. They pretty much pissed off every friend they had with that move. Dreamcast was a casualty of this and Sony's outright LIES about what the PS2 was going to be able to do.
- waspbr, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1well, yu can do that already with scummvm

On top of that, they are making an HD version of monkey island 1 and 2, also there will be new monkey island episodes released by telltale next month. - inactive, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Their mistake was the Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn, it would be hard to talk about Sega without mentioning it.
This being said, Sega isn't that bad financially. They make hardware these days, you should find their machines in most Casinos. They make a LOT of claw and pachinko machines for the Asian market as well.
Heck, Nintendo doesn't have a theme park, do they? Sega does (it's lame) http://sega.jp/joypolis/tokyo/home_e.shtml - s0nicfreak, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1No, they can't even do that without Yuji Naka.
- MOJIRA, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1If by silly you mean *****.
- Shaflugi, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Sonic CD is in no way underrated, it's just underplayed. I personally enjoyed Sonic 2/3 better, though.
- Peynis, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1If only that was true. There's always a huge share of morons who will consider the newest Sonic game (as in: ***** to date) the best one and celebrate it as Sonic's "huge comeback".
