The leap in graphics when you switch from a standard tv-set to 480p is huge. Most people here that are buying xbox 360 don't have HDTV (1080i or 720p) and they don't know that they're throwing away money just to get the same quality that they'd get on the regular xbox.

Look, it really doesn't matter if the Nintendo Revolution does HD. The market for people that will be using the Nintendo Revolution is usually not going to be shelling out four grand for a Samsung DLP to make sure that Mario doesn't have a problem with jaggy edges.

Nintendo is going in another direction. I applaud them for that. If I see another FPS Quake clone like 'Gears of War,' and people telling me that I am missing out because there is a super shiny gun, and the plasma fire lights up the hallway, well, I think I'm going to scream.
I've already played Outrun, or Ridge Racer, or whatever you call it this week back in '85. No new racer is really going to impress me. I played Doom when it was shareware. Halo, and even Halo 2 is el sucko compared to Tribes, even compared to the new Tribes: Vengeance, the Tribes that no one is excited about. Simply put, I am walking out of consoles until they offer me something more.
Nintendo can do that if their little remote really does what it shows. But more dazzles on the 'Kaboom' engine is not going to do it. The last time I got excited about a shooter was UT2K4, and that was because one game type resembled more of a truly new and cool bloodsport than a shooter.
Graphics bore me to tears now. The fact that graphics are driving the industry is really a statement on you and what corporations shove down your throats as the 'new standard of excellence.' Think of it in terms of all media, you don't watch all your TV because it is graphically good. You watch some of it because the content is good, too. Give me some content. Screw the HD.
XBoX 360? Whoop de crap. Why, look how shiny the same old game types are! XboX and the new Playstation 3 are looking like the Highlander 2 of gaming. Sad retreads of somebody else's tires. They get no money from me until they start bringing ideas to the table. I know they won't, though. more games would support pro scan on the GC...but nintendo stopped putting digital output ports on the newer gamecubes...
cost cutting - mistafreeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not to mention its all but impossible to buy the cable, less your willing to shell out a lot on ebay, xbox does 480p as well as 720p and a few games at 1080i, and of course the xbox 360 does 720p, and 1080i. not to mention the gamecubes default resolution is far below the xbox 360's 1280x720p native resolution, you can blow up low resolutions all you want, they cant really compare to something that runs native.

Not a story, just poor planning on Nintendo's part because you have to order these cables directly from them and any recent GameCubes lack the Digital Out port due to cost cutting.

I have one of the cube's with the port, but I never bothered with the cables because they cost too much to be worth it. Never again shall you compare Gamecube graphics to Xbox 360. I love the cube and all, but there is simply no comparison.
