- BreathofCepheus, on 02/05/2008, -3/+75Because our marines want to play Call of Duty 4 whilst in Iraq.
(seriously though, it is a good idea, CoD 4 was just the first thing that came to mind..) - fluidfoundation, on 02/05/2008, -4/+54Do they really want Barbie's Horse Adventure, though?
- cynic573, on 02/05/2008, -0/+49Who DOESN'T want Barbie's Horse Adventure?
- blackcoyote, on 02/05/2008, -7/+54Nice job Cheapy...great way to bypass the red tape and just get games to our troops.
- Hockey37, on 02/05/2008, -3/+48If i was in the middle of a war, getting shot at, risking my life for my country, I for one really wouldn't care if i got Madden 2003 vs 2008.
- EatingPie, on 02/05/2008, -1/+46Several of the bases (most? all?) have setups which include a bunch of 360s. Many troops brought their own consoles and laptops too. This info comes from my cousin who just finished serving in Iraq.
So if it sounds a like this would only benefit a few people, that's not at all true. Pretty much anyone on base has access to a console at the very least. Go games!
-Pie - inactive, on 02/05/2008, -0/+37I'm tempting to send instructions on modding a 360, as well as 50 or so games.
- milkham, on 02/05/2008, -7/+40My only concern is that the troops will be getting games no one wanted!
- maklershed, on 02/05/2008, -5/+34Go to hell.
- Poolshark19, on 02/05/2008, -0/+29this is a cool idea, im leaving in 3 weeks for iraq, and would like to see this where i will be
- albie, on 02/05/2008, -0/+28Thank you for your service. I wish you the best.
- InferiorWang, on 02/06/2008, -0/+28Let's send them CoD, Battlefield, and Rainbow Six so they can, you know, take their minds off of soldiering.
- CheapyD, on 02/05/2008, -5/+33All props to CAG neushane who is organizing this from Fallujah!
- GamerIntel, on 02/05/2008, -4/+32Or donate to sick kids here in the US!
http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ - entrophize, on 02/05/2008, -0/+26There's something oddly fitting about a US Marine playing Halo.
- tabledesk, on 02/05/2008, -0/+25I hope you come home soon.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/05/2008, -5/+27And the idiot of the month award goes to......
- unicronband, on 02/05/2008, -4/+25You really need to pull your head out of your ass. The soldiers didn't declare war, our ***** president did. I'm by no means a supporter of the war, but unlike you, I know a lot of truly good people who are fighting over there who would love to see us leave Iraq. Yeah, there are some ***** up people doing ***** up things that reflect poorly on the rest of the soldiers. Yeah, we shouldn't be over there. But take that out on the people who sent us to war, not those stuck fighting it, especially when all you're doing is throwing out jabs from behind a computer screen doing nothing good for anybody. When you say ***** like "every soldier is a baby-rapist", you drastically hurt your cause and will have people despise you. I'm one of them.
- toppgun, on 02/05/2008, -1/+21I wish you didnt have to go.
- bossm4n, on 02/05/2008, -0/+20Excellent work. One slightly used copy of Halo 3 coming up.
- harriman714, on 02/05/2008, -2/+20i wonder if they would get any enjoyment out of first person shooters?
- maklershed, on 02/05/2008, -1/+18Great work Cheapy and all involved. And keep this rule of thumb in mind when sending games to the soldiers .. dont send them any game (especially for the DS) ending with the letter z.
- SilentSpyder, on 02/05/2008, -3/+19My brother just came back from Iraq, he's a liberal, aethist, from New Jersey.
- CheapyD, on 02/05/2008, -3/+18All props to CAG neushane who is organizing this from Fallujah!
- moocow1452, on 02/05/2008, -0/+15You sold a half-dozen perfectly good games to Gamestop?!
- alukima, on 02/05/2008, -0/+15That's awesome.... I have a box of games I didn't know what to do with and games stop doesn't give very much for them.
- Gimpishi, on 02/05/2008, -2/+17and YOU'RE a colossal D-Bag... they are still people risking their lives in a war they shouldn't have to fight in the first place.
- maklershed, on 02/05/2008, -0/+14There's a string of incredibal ***** animal games, mostly for the DS that all end in Z. Such as Horsez, Kittenz, Dogz, etc.
- maklershed, on 02/05/2008, -0/+13Is it hard to understand that you're "screwing" Gamestop by not giving them the opportunity to flip your used games at a huge mark-up since you'll be donating them to soldiers?
- rjn17960, on 02/06/2008, -0/+13Don't ask, don't tell.
- JohnOaks, on 02/05/2008, -5/+17You got a good thing going on here.
- Devin, on 02/05/2008, -1/+13Can we change the "or" to an "and" please?
- Lane, on 02/05/2008, -1/+13Anyone given out a copy of sexy beach yet?
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -1/+13I'll send my Gears of War. I was going to sell it to Gamestop. I just wish I hadn't sold $20 worth of Xbox games to them a month ago.
- mlvassallo, on 02/05/2008, -0/+12Yes, because all kids stuck in children's hospitals are... blind?
Great reasoning. - inactive, on 02/05/2008, -0/+11You have to be older than 12 to be in the military. So they have grown out of Maxim.
- Matteos, on 02/06/2008, -1/+12Is that you Jack?
- thedarkrabbit, on 02/05/2008, -0/+11When I was in Iraq... we had several X-boxes throughout our tents... and buildings later on. But good games were often out of stock in any PX we went to throughout the area.
This is a fantastic idea... I will be sending cheap games to my friends who are going back to Iraq in a month. - BuddyDoQ, on 02/05/2008, -1/+11Take a second look at what those exchange rates really mean: http://kotaku.com/352790/gamestop-brings-new-meani ...
Yep, I'd call that a donation! - diggdiggerid, on 02/05/2008, -1/+11The greatest army in the world is the one that fights only defensive wars.
- bpapa, on 02/05/2008, -0/+10I do this all the time, sending old games/dvds/comics, whatever. Whether you support the war or not there are a lot of kids over there that might die and could use some entertainment. To me donating to the troops is one of the worthiest causes around.
- charlescheese, on 02/05/2008, -3/+12I'm just happy we got this far in the discussion before some jackass went here.
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -3/+12***** you.
- tech42er, on 02/06/2008, -0/+9Thanks for serving your country, man. God bless.
- megz89, on 02/06/2008, -3/+12How dare you. Do you know what it takes to defend our country? You think that we are over there for nothing right? Maybe you should go ask all the people your "innocents" murdered. You should try, just for a day to do what our military members have. And stop being an ass.
--USN Veteran - mindbullets, on 02/05/2008, -1/+10Hope everything goes ok over there, and you can still get your game/digg on. Thanks
- asciiforever, on 02/05/2008, -0/+9Except for the Master Chief being a Naval officer, yeah. I know some guys in the Marines and Air Force that love them some Halo.
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -0/+975% would be a GREAT deal for a buyback.
- skyfire1, on 02/06/2008, -1/+10Kids aren't supposed to play M rated games.
- WoollyMittens, on 02/05/2008, -1/+9Don't take your frustration out on the soldiers. You can hate the game, but don't hate the players.
