- Ray_Justice, on 10/12/2007, -5/+38Wow, I dont know anyone that doesn't like Wii Bowling, sounds like you need a new woman.
- thegreenone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Yeah, it's not a good sign. Nintendo is really droping the ball on internet multiplay. not everyone has people at home who like to play games. My GF has zero interest in games, even Wii sports.
- joelmole, on 10/12/2007, -12/+27If the infrastructure for online games is up and running, as the article says, I'm extremely disappointed. This indicates to me that the online features will be on a per game basis rather than a centralized online hub, a'la Xbox Live. I'm really digging my Wii, but I'm quietly disappointed with the quality of the system software. It has a veneer of sleekness, but under that it's not very intuitive and very limited in functionality.
- Ray_Justice, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17and at over twice the price, It should!
Zing!
P.S. I'll spend the extra 50, and get a 360 AND a Wii - peestandingup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155531 There are more sites with the actual interview. :-)
- MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Ugh, you guys really need to go check your sources.
Elebits and Pokemon Battle Revolution were the first two wi-fi enabled games. Super Mario Strikers is said to have online, too. It's rumored that Metroid Prime 3 was delayed so that they could add online functionality. BWii is said to have online multiplayer, too. Five games, four of which are first party titles have/might have online play. I think that's pretty good for a console about two months old. Why does everyone keep saying "no online games till April/spring?"
I don't even know what the ***** got you people started on online play. This article is about a rumor, not about online play. - craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9If Nintendo released Wii Sports 2 with online play I'd gladly buy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14@ primehifi:
As if you could find a Wii in a store anyway...
And why are you only excited about Mario? I've been playing Zelda since day one and love it... - TomRemixed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7BWii will be online as well. I've never liked nintendo's approach to online. At first they didn't use it at all and when they do get it they use friend codes. Then their main system doesn't get online games until April.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In Japan, yes.
- jedikv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8nintendo have to work fast on their online + third party software to continue to increase interest in the wii. The wii-mote can only do so much.
This may be a case of "its only going downhill" if they do not develop the other aspects of the console. - ElwinRansom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Ninteondo doing what they do best.
They show Mario before the system is even out, and it still takes a year and a half for it to come out.
Metroid was promised as a launch game, wtf happened there?
They also, as I recall, promised SSB:Brawl as a LAUNCH title, and now it's apparently coming out whenever they feel like it. - SsbFalcon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wasn't Pokemon supposed to be the first online Wii game?
- Mikecol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4US Wii Dates:
2.12.07 - Wii Play
3.1.07 - Tiger Woods PGA Tour '07
3.5.07 - Mario Party 8

Just because i said something bad about Nintendo doesn't mean I'm pro Sony. I think Sony is in a terrible position at the moment, and I would much rather plunk money down on a Wii if I absolutely had to pay for one of the two.
In fact, what I think is going on is that Sony is simply doing SO badly at the moment that it's making Nintendo look a billion times better. Nintendo has lots to be praised for with the Wii and it's (arguably) great launch (compared to the ps3), but I think the fact that they're delaying ***** like they always do is kinda of not being discussed. I don't mind waiting for good games, but if you're going to delay a game a year and a half, don't lie say it'll be there at launch when you know damn well it won't. - GeneralCoolman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wouldn't put much thought into what this guy said. Most of those Nintendo Reps have little to no insider knowledge about what products or games that are coming through the pipelines. Mostly they are there to promote stuff that anyone that's paying attention already knows about and make the employees that don't care about Nintendo stuff care by giving them swag and trying to pump them up.
If I remember correctly Nintendo had already officially annouced that the first Wii game with online play was going to be the new Super Mario Strikers game. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I was going to digg you up because what you said sounds good for Nintendo, but then I realized you didn't provide proof to back up your statements.
- Yodzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What the hell ever happened to the new Paper Mario? Dropped off the radar?
- Dafreakzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Metroid Prime 3 Online would be fantastic! Would kind of remind me of Quake 3 arena.
- ShadowMarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mario wasn't "pushed back", because it has no release date other than 2007....
- peestandingup, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6They havent said Spring for a while now. Reggie said "sometime before the end of '07".
- wenis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not necessarily there have been plenty of games with advertising for a game to come out but the publisher has to push them back so the store must remove advertising..its happend before.
- DarkStalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Everything about it is just like GC and N64... even your comment.
- ElwinRansom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Judremy
i sure as hell remember talk about it being a launch game. Why do they even say anything if they know they can't make the date?
"Iwata said that Nintendo is hard at work on a Super Smash Bros. sequel that will debut for the launch of Revolution."
http://cube.ign.com/articles/615/615412p1.html - jackpot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Live didn't show up at launch either
- melkore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's being put on the Wii. I am assuming they are reworking the controls and adding Wii remote related items to interact with to make the game not so much of a GC port.
- sergeantmudd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So is there any online Wii game that has an announced shipping date? And when is it?
I have already played the launch games that I want to. I am working my way through Gamecube games for the time being, but I really want to play online - CBanga, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This rumor is total BS. Nintendo employees over in Redmond don't know when games will be released until the announcement is made public. Reps who set up demo kiosks in Nowhereville, Iowa or any similar small town have NO IDEA when games will be released and are purely speculating based upon rumors.
Buried for being inaccurate. - dugbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Even though $50 a year is not much, the xbox live is still a service that charges. That's why they can afford to have a dedicated hub. The nintendo wii is free wifi. I would rather have free online games then a monthly fee for a few extra features. When I say a few extra features I mean it because all I care about its playing a game online with Friends and the Nintendo will do that.
I think metriod's solid single player and a solid online multiplayer it can compete with halo 3. - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7You can stow your disappointment and the speculation. This rumour in inaccurate. Advertising prints for 1Q for some retailers are already done - and they feature this game.
- harpwn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Clear fake, if the infra is up and running, why doesn't CoD3 have online play? It does for 360/PS3
- rugster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7If metroid is going to be the first wi fi game, then im worried that there will not be enough third party support at least online. If you look at the ds most of the wifi games for that are first party also so im hoping this is untrue.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wii Play is not online, trust me I have it.
- battleroyalex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"An anonymous local Nintedo rep" Im sick of seeing diggs starting out like this and 2 days later its proved wrong
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, I feel burned by 2 things:
1 - rip off VC titles (sorry Im not paying $7.50au for any 8 bit game)
2 - Wheres the BEEF/ online support !?!?!
Now I realise dozens of nintendo fnalboys would defend the Wii even if it molested an 8 year old but not this gamer.
If a company is going to hype the ***** out of a feature, they should expect backlash when its not ready on launch, 2 no definite date or when it will be supported and 3 when the customer is hearing the same BS PR storys that they heard before launch. - primehifi, on 10/12/2007, -12/+13Guess I can put off buying a Wii a little longer...
- Frostman3D, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't mind waiting for mario if it's a better game than Mario Sunshine.
While I'm disappointed if it's true, it's still better for us in the long run.
I'm also looking forward to metroid. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Can you actually play fighting games online with no lag...even a ping of 70 would not suffice...
- DrunKao, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Buried for use of "GIT R Done"
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Metroid Prime Wi-Fi will be like the next Halo.
except it will actually be good. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At least sony delivered what they promised.
Though every sony person seems 2 be grumbling about poor ps2 game picture. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Ray, dumping a good girl because they dont like games ????
Im also sick of hearing, the wii is a party console / I play nothing but zelda. Trust me, it will get old quick carrying your wii all over the place to find another couple of players.
Atm nintendo hasnt so much dropped the ball on online play, they tripped and fell over it. - NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"An anonymous Nintendo rep gave me a little inside info today"
Gee that's reliable, marked innacurate, only a dumbass would believe that if it merely came from 'An anonymous Nintendo rep'. - dftpnkezln, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice, but is there any news on when it will be released for XBox 360? I dont have a Wii.
- thegreenone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey, just paying tribute to the master. But, I'll get a new one soon. Gopher, do you ever sleep?
- EDmAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm not a big online gamer, but I'm glad to see most people thinking MP3 will be online, mainly because I'm tired of hearing people complain about it. I'm a gamer, but I don't have the time to get through games in single player and though multi-player online is fun, I'm just to busy with working a full time job and going to college in the evenings to do it much. I mean I've had Zelda TP since launch and still haven't beaten it with 57 hours on the clock I'm pretty close. MP3 is definitely what I'm looking forward to next though, so the earlier the better. I'm getting the Sonic game too. I don't mind holding off on SMG till Christmas, I want it to be good.
- worbd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"And nintendo, your Wii 24 connect is a huge joke, online 24/7 - actually used ...... 5min/24"
Actually, it's always on. Try sending your Wii an email. And games like Animal Crossing will be able to use WC24 too.
You are a stupid ***** if you think WC24 isn't being used or won't be used more in the future. - SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Reggie said a couple months ago that Mario would be out sometime "between March and Christmas" so it should not be a surprise that Mario Galaxy may be a ways off still.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well lets just hope they dont push it back for Wii 1.5 then backport it to the Wii (ala zelda TP).
And nintendo, your Wii 24 connect is a huge joke, online 24/7 - actually used ...... 5min/24 -
