- jstohler, on 07/17/2008, -9/+53Is there any doubt that RB2 is the only game in town?
- gregkr, on 07/17/2008, -5/+42Another vote for rock band
- casspa, on 07/17/2008, -5/+40Rock Band will have my business.
- XombieRobot, on 07/17/2008, -3/+30popular mechanics?
- bixby1, on 07/18/2008, -2/+25Just when my roommates were getting tired of Rock Band and I was starting to get some sleep...damn you awesome game.
- doshindude, on 07/18/2008, -5/+21RB2 still blows the other 2 away in terms of realism and experience in the genre, thanks to Harmonix and their expertise in music. GHWT is (literally) a ripoff of RB now, considering the interface is exactly the same. What will make or break GHWT is the song creator, which I'm thinking is gonna suck though.
Rock Revolution is a flat out joke....I swear Konami is just doing it for laughs; not only did they not have their guitar controller to show at their press conference (they used GH guitars instead and said they were still working on their own controllers), they FAILED the song they were playing when they did their stage demo (proof here at 1:11 in this video: http://www.screwattack.com/E32008/Konami - xombi242, on 07/18/2008, -2/+17Rock Band 2 wins my purchase for the second time.
I'll probably buy the Guitar Hero: World Tour software too since it will be compatible with my instruments.
I really can't have another set of plastic 360 controllers lying around. They take up way too much space. - Hiji, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11This comment is pretty lame!
- coyote1284, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8I think it's funny that Konami doesn't have a guitar for RR since they really started the genre.
- Brenky, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8The thing is, you probably know a lot of the songs in RB2. The titles or artists just don't instantly come to mind. Search for a few of the songs on YouTube and you'd be pleasantly surprised.
- louiebaur, on 07/17/2008, -5/+12that is pretty cool
- jquipp, on 07/17/2008, -0/+7maybe they're expanding their horizons
- Volaitle86, on 07/18/2008, -0/+7Wow Rock Revolution looks like *****
- hinmanj, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Oh god that link was gold. At the end he just gives a genuine "What the hell?" hahaha
- roosterjm2k2, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Mine as well. RB1 disc tracks + DLC tracks will work with it... that's a win in my book any day.
- badwithcomputer, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6my thoughts exactly.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -3/+9the world would be a sad place without rockband..so sad.
- vacax, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7Preview, not review. Inaccurate/misleading title.
- bagboyrebel, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5to me it seems like the kind of thing I would try out maybe once ore twice and then never touch again.
- MetalHead73, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Great unless you were a fan of Nintendo... :(
- seinman, on 07/18/2008, -1/+6New Rock Band songs come out every Tuesday. Buy some of 'em.
- SniperZ, on 07/17/2008, -5/+10I dont know, Guitar Heros new features seem pretty nice, and most likely will extend the replay value...
- ProfessorLX, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4maybe if you had been playing rather than watching him he wouldnt have been kicking your ass
- doshindude, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4*cheesy smile and two thumbs up pose*
- ekday, on 07/18/2008, -2/+6looking forward to RB2.
- jaybol, on 07/17/2008, -2/+6watching my old college professor kick my ass on guitar hero was one of the highlights of the year so far
- jupaneanu, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Yup, me too E3 must be so cool to attend
- Serphyas, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Am I alone in thinking, in regards to RB2's advanced drumset (and supposedly the standard kit, which can have cymbal add-ons too), that every circular pad should be a separate tom, instead of yellow-blue-green doubling as cymbals? I mean if you're gonna slap 3 cymbals onto the set, let THOSE be the cymbals and give me more drums!
- annjay, on 07/17/2008, -2/+5Interesting
- logicalnoise, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4....the charts are realistic. I'd rather have realistic charts than overcharted ones like GH has.
- kravex, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3The instruments may work, but as it's a cut-down version of RockBand on the Wii there's no point to buying it.
- seinman, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3That's exactly how it works, during fills. For the regular charts, though, they couldn't add more colors (because then it wouldn't be backwards compatible with RB1 songs or DLC) so it's either/or then.
- sbob420, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3dont hold your breath that album was supposed to be comming out every year for the past 10 years and as far as that song goes dont be suprised if axel pulls it at the last minute cause he doesnt want it realased like the album. i aint holding my breath
- logicalnoise, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3there is no recording, just arranging midi data.
- liquilife, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3There will be some sort of indicator that the game wants you to hit the green symbol instead of the green tom which will give you some type of bonus. However, hitting the green tom when the game indicates that a green symbol is coming you will not be penalized, just won't get the bonus. As seinman mentioned, this keeps everything backwards compatible for those who have the basic drumset with no addons.
- ThinkRad, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Well, they are the the worst, most awkward video game journalists I've ever seen on camera. Not that those are a smooth bunch, either.
- xombi242, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2From what I've heard, they will.
- doshindude, on 07/18/2008, -2/+4No it won't considering it's a ripoff.
- ExRe, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2I am hoping that RB2 announces that they'll support the GH instruments. I thought that the GHWT instruments looked nicer.
- BearinG, on 07/28/2008, -0/+2Yeah seriously, I don't have good place to store them to be able to quickly take em out and play.. so they stay close but its all those damn cables too.. not to say that I'd want all wireless instruments either.. I change my LesPauls batteries often enough..
- Andrwmorph, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Thursday for PS3!
- deacont23, on 07/18/2008, -2/+4I was hoping to see Guitar Rising at E3. http://www.guitarrising.com
I would rather learn to play a real guitar then a plastic one. I wish there was more info on this! - ExRe, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2They support at least the other guitars. Not sure about the drum kits (probably).
It didn't look too good, but if it is cheap enough ($25 or so) and it supports the drums/guitar from the other game I buy I might give it a try. - timdorr, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2You know why they kicked down the difficult? It's because you're not playing solo this time around. It ruins the experience if one part is insanely more difficult than the rest. The person playing that part is dicking around on their instrument while the rest of the band is essentially there to save their ass when they die. Harmonix realized this early on and made the tradeoff to knock down the difficulty a lot.
GGAHT is still a ***** hard song, though. - DaDiggydiggyDOC, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Rock band won my vote when they announced that RB 1 tracks would work with RB 2 IMO.. Now they just need to add a lead guitar so that we can have lead and rhythm guitar going!! Maybe the next RB will have 5 player???
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3WEll yeah, but Im talking about Rock and roll, not home electronics...
- bruin8uclap, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2$300 is only for the limited edition Ion set which has the added benefit of playing as a real set of midi drums if connected to an electronic drum brain. The plain jane Rock Band 2 drum kit will be about 90 bucks if purchased separately (http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Band-2-Standalone-Drums ... and can be expanded by adding cymbal attachments made my Mad Katz.
- StevieJanowski, on 04/02/2009, -4/+6I am dying for some new rockband songs. can't wait for this to drop
- Jethris, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2no reason to buy a Wii. RB and GH both prove that.
- roosterjm2k2, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Croathlete, it would probably be similar to the stars or hammer-on notes in guitar hero, same basic shape, but something noticeably different to notate that it's special...
