- Opelious, on 07/06/2008, -2/+147Guys, this is NOT accurate. This is from one of the 360 editors for IGN posting on the Insider boards when a forum member asked about that specific line:
"Nate goofed in writing that. He hopes that is allowed. Nothing about this has been announced and Nate's never even seen RB2. Sorry, guys."
This is the thread if you have Insider: http://boards.ign.com/xbox_360_general_board/b8266 ... - sperin4, on 07/06/2008, -2/+72Wow. There is a ton of bitching in these comments.
The free DLC thing is great. Now I won't have to switch back to the first Rock Band when my girlfriend will inevitably want to play I'm So Sick and Flirtin' With Disaster after the sequel comes out. Also, Bob Dylan! And a ton of other classics. Sure, everyone isn't going to like Modest Mouse and everyone isn't going to like Mastodon but HMX seems to have a good balance. It looks like its time for me to begin hunting for a used hard drive though. - FalseProphecy, on 07/06/2008, -6/+45What the premise is, is "if you bought Rock Band 1..."
It's not going to be free for anyone who's just purchasing Rock Band 2 and didn't buy the first one. That's WHY you'd feel cheated, and that's WHY that statement was given. To CORRECT the thought that people would get all the RB1 songs even if they didn't buy the game.
And I'm sure that the price of all the songs is going to be near the price of the original game disc, plus you'd have to go through Microsoft's or Sony's proprietary (read: retarded) point system in order to buy them. It's still worth it to buy the first game if you haven't, especially if it's on sale. - mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -4/+38There's no point system for Sony.
- swgc5, on 07/06/2008, -11/+45Dream Theatre does not make bad music.......
- sup34dog, on 07/06/2008, -1/+26not really... this makes me very (and I mean very) happy. Assuming it's true, that is.
I bought two copies of the RB1 special edition: one for my brothers (for christmas) and one for myself, and I don't care if people who only bought RB2 get RB1's songs for free as well. I don't want to have to swap discs to play the songs for the first one. In fact, I never want to have to play RB1 again after RB2 comes out - I just want all of the songs available to play in one game.
I'll even buy the new drum set if it's awesome. - FalseProphecy, on 07/06/2008, -3/+24Whoops, my bad. I was thinking of Nintendo's Wii Points, or whatever they have.
- mrfreeziexp, on 07/06/2008, -12/+31Why are you going to hate playing Motorhead or Dream Theater? Do you not like rock? What were you looking for, Hannah Montana?
- kylesellers, on 07/07/2008, -0/+20IGN Insder is lame. You shouldn't have to pay to be a part of a community. It's anti-internet.
- nonsomniac, on 07/06/2008, -0/+20The RB1 song list as DLC has since been debunked. Everyone knows Nate is an idiot. Hillary posted a retraction on the Rock Band forums already.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -1/+18There is a point system for Sony. It's called local currency... because they understand that people don't want to have to do funny math to buy stuff.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 07/06/2008, -1/+13Some people are just petty. Why the ***** would RB1 owners feel "cheated"? We bought the game and got full use and enjoyment out of the product. At the time, you paid for the product knowing full well what was to be included. It is irrelevant that RB2 features all the RB1 songs for free.
Simple and unwarranted case of buyer's remorse. - inactive, on 07/06/2008, -0/+11You had a good point, it's just that I could have understood what you said without the huge paragraph of a quote taking up the screen.
- LittleDas, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10Buried as inaccurate since the rumor was completely unfounded and just an IGN editor pulling ***** out his ass. Nothing more to say.
- inactive, on 07/06/2008, -1/+11yeah, pretty much.
stop cloggin' the tubes! - Lawrencesss, on 07/06/2008, -1/+11If you want to be a car thief, buy a handgun and a slim jim.
If you want to be a space marine charged with saving the universe, well.... - mgyqmb, on 07/06/2008, -0/+9Sucks? They got to play the game, with the full understanding that in the future, there would probably be a sequel for a price that they were willing to pay.
If everyone was willing to 'wait for the next best thing' - we'd never buy anything because they'll always be a better product coming out later. - hoowahman, on 07/06/2008, -0/+8Maybe you should have expressed it in your own words.
- kraetos, on 07/06/2008, -0/+8tl;dr
- cmsjustin, on 07/07/2008, -1/+8I'm a real fake guitar button pusher!
- sarchosis, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7It's a rumor. . . probably going to be more like an option to install the RB1 songs onto your HD so you can play them through RB2.
- bigbadgoat, on 07/06/2008, -2/+9As long as you don't have a problem with playing some classic pearl jam.
Ten would be an amazing album for DLC. - Typhoon2009, on 07/06/2008, -0/+7No... the battle will be won when one of them creates hardware that works 100% fine with the other game. If they think I want two drumsets in my house they're ***** out of their minds
- Zalyster, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7@doshindude
100 Wii points = $1.00 USD still makes less sense then just using actual currency on Sony's. - PhoenixAvatar2, on 07/06/2008, -1/+8You don't download the entire disk, just the songs you want.
- scooterbaga, on 07/06/2008, -10/+16Sold.
- Atomic1fire, on 07/07/2008, -1/+7He leiks mudkipz
- cmsjustin, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Jesus would digg you down for blasphemy
- jacen, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Agreed, this is a very strong set list. But still no Beatles! I wonder if Apple (music, not mac) is holding back the master tracks from Harmonix, much like Led Zeppelin is.
- cmsjustin, on 07/07/2008, -0/+5You have ***** friends
- blahtastic, on 07/07/2008, -1/+6Why is mywhitenoise one of the only commenters names I ever remember on here? Oh yeah, always bitching about something...
- sselbor, on 07/07/2008, -2/+7How is that going to work? Why couldn't people just borrow RB1 to get the free DLC and buy only RB2?
- Boktai1000, on 07/07/2008, -0/+5Wii = no DLC as of yet, although Activion with GH:WT claim to be able to solve the problem with storage, so its still trivial as to what Harmonix will be able to do, personally I'm hoping both will as I enjoy both.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Well, that will never happen because Activision is full of itself.
So, Rock Band wins? I mean I already have a full RB set, and that is one of the key reasons I'm not getting GH:WT. That and GH3 showed me how they butchered the great game that was GH1&2 - kylesellers, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4I'm glad about this, and I own Rock Band 1. I hate having to swap back and forth between Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith depending on the songs I want to play.
If I could consolidate all of them and only need 1 disc, that is a good thing, and that seems to be what Rock Band is trying to do. - finaldrumgod, on 07/07/2008, -4/+8You are the most obnoxious person on the face of the planet. Whenever I open up something I want to read I see a comment from you bashing everything about it and that's all fine and good, it's good to have an opinion, but then you bash the people that disagree with you. Here a couple examples of what I'm talking about (on this small thread alone):
"You're emo, you don't count."
"That's perfect reason to call something "bad". It's called an opinion, you stupid *****."
I really don't understand your premise. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to hear constructive criticism. Just because you like music that is laid back and simple doesn't mean complex or upbeat music is bad.
I absolutely dread seeing "mywhitenoise" in any comment system, but you've gotten my attention. Not the good kind. I hate you.
Good day. - TheInimitable, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5Not possible. Ever.
- blanktarget, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Or ps2 owners.
- PullingTeeth, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5Nothing like a Digg article related to music to ignite the worst of diggers
- Pirate207, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4As nitpicky as this may be I'm not so sure about the first "leaked" song list
the AFI song is actually called Girl's Not Grey, now people make mistakes, but it could just be a made up list easily... - benman587, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4You were buried by one person... calm down
- StrikerObi, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5Already been proven as "speculation". Buried for inaccuracy.
- SuperIntendo, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5If it seriously has E-Pro by Beck, I don't care how much it costs, they've got my sale.
- Darkswarm, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Being an owner of Rock Band 1, I actually would love the free DLC story to be true so I could just switch to Rock Band 2. Nevertheless, this is just a rumor and should not be posted as a fact, so I buried this story as inaccurate.
- inactive, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4This is the kind of ***** that needs to be ENCOURAGED in game companies. Not bitched about because you're disgruntled that someone might get a little something that you didn't.
- stinger666, on 07/06/2008, -3/+7I wish I didn't buy RB1. Oh well, at least it made me want to play a real instrument. I'm a real drummer now!
- sg7791, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4I bet I can guess your favorite part of Tony Hawk 4.
- Dan11023, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4ok, where do u want it?
:-P - jkopacz, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3if this is true, its awesome!
i bought RB1 and have had fun with it for a long time now so i dont feel cheated anyone that didnt buy RB1 would get it in RB2. theyre "old" songs now but having the ability to play them in RB2 without having to swap disks = awesome! - JoeB4ever, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3damn, no Tool on the leaked track list....yet
