- MasterJoefus, on 06/30/2008, -2/+184Ah, just in time for the Original Rock Band release for the Wii
- goldfenix, on 06/30/2008, -11/+145The cross-compatible DLC is what I was waiting to hear about. As the guy who runs the largest DLC review site on the web this was really what I was wondering about.
For those interested (and sorry to spam, but I'm really proud of what I've created in the last two months), you can check out http://www.rbdlc.com (Rock Band DLC), which is basically a site I set up to be an IMDB for Rock Band songs. I know that I've at least saved some money since starting it! - jun2san, on 06/30/2008, -4/+105Fact: By 2010 we will have 4 drum sets in our living rooms.
- tidefan94, on 06/30/2008, -11/+98This game is gonna kick Guitar Heroes ass.
- logicalnoise, on 06/30/2008, -0/+54according to IGN http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/885/885168p1.html
it's coming to 360 3 monthes ahead of ps3. - LittleMagnet, on 06/30/2008, -3/+55One important question left unanswered: will there be any way to play Rock Band disc songs in Rock Band 2? It would be kind of silly to have 14/15 songs from a DLC album playable in RB2 while the one on the RB disc just kind of sits there (think Doolittle). Here's hoping something is done with that.
- widgetmaker, on 06/30/2008, -3/+55Dugg for an advertising comment with relevence!
- jun2san, on 06/30/2008, -1/+53False.
- vondrak, on 06/30/2008, -0/+43Yeah well there was no mention of a Wii version in this article so you can plan on getting it 8 months after its released and only 3 months before RockBand 3 comes out.
Also not mentioned in this article is if the old instruments will work. I hope they aren't expecting people to shell out another $170 to put more plastic instruments in their rooms?
Edit: Actually they do answer my question in the real article
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/885/885168p1.html - craigkc, on 06/30/2008, -3/+39* Shared DLC? Major props to the Harmonix/Rock Band crew for using so much integrity and not milking the customer's wallets... I hope the greedy a-holes at RedOctaint/Neversoft and GH crew rot in hell and stop trying to exclusively sign major bands.
* Instrument Compatibility? Remember that Harmonix had the consumer in mind and wanted to make their game work with the GH axe (and all third parties) and RedOctaint wouldn't let them. Again, rot in hell bastards.
* "Get a Real Instrument" Biggots? I have a Fender Accoustic/Electric, '67 Gibson LP, and Schecter Electric w/ EMGs. Yes, it's just a game but damnit it's fun. Use an original comment (or better yet, none) please... - revmhatt, on 06/30/2008, -2/+37I'm going to run out of places to put these drums and guitars!
- innocentsinner, on 06/30/2008, -2/+36It's blatant spam, but..well..that's a damn nice site :D
- TimmyGUNZ, on 06/30/2008, -8/+39Well it does take time to insert Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool into the game.
- nunofgs, on 06/30/2008, -4/+32Some people might have only 1 console. Shocking, I know.
- inactive, on 06/30/2008, -3/+28Well....you could always just put the Rock Band I disc into the console? That would let you play those songs, right?
It's not like the licensing is going to let them sell all of those songs online for 10 bucks. - thebza451, on 06/30/2008, -7/+31why would you buy it for wii when there is no DLC ?
- Typhoon2009, on 06/30/2008, -4/+27Just get a ***** console dude. You don't invite friends over to crowd around your PC monitor.
- sleepbox, on 06/30/2008, -15/+37They go where the $ is, not the Blu Ray movies.
- Tigerbot5, on 06/30/2008, -0/+21Stop having fun!
- weareallzombies, on 06/30/2008, -0/+20If Online Band World Tour and a Bass Solo Tour are included in the new version, I can hardly wait.
- timdorr, on 06/30/2008, -9/+28That's OK, because I have 3 PS3s.
- eqisow, on 06/30/2008, -9/+28Exactly, I was seriously considering Rock Band for the Wii. I saw this and thought, "Oooh, I'll just wait for RB2." Now that it seems apparent that they absolutely insist on treating the Wii (and it's huge player base) as second class citizens, I'll just stick with Guitar Hero. Their loss.
- cbrunet, on 06/30/2008, -0/+18Just fantastic. My biggest worry was that the DLC wouldn't work for RB2 (as is happening with every new GH title), so I've been gunshy lately about downloading new songs until we got new information at E3. This makes me so happy. Doolittle, here I come!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/30/2008, -0/+18Downloadable Content - the songs you buy online
- eqisow, on 06/30/2008, -6/+24Activision doesn't think so. GH4 Wii will be released alongside other versions and will have downloadable content.
Thus, they get my money - makes sense, no? - misreto, on 06/30/2008, -0/+18Hopefully all the equipment will be sold separately as well.
- FuzzyBunny89, on 06/30/2008, -1/+18Grammar Nazi. "Guitar Hero's"
- techblogLAT, on 06/30/2008, -0/+16Harmonix has clearly set their priorities. Xbox 360 first, PS3 second, and Wii gets the game a week before the sequel is announced.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/30/2008, -1/+16How do you know GH4 has a much better track list when no track list has been released for RB2?
- erad222, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15Can't we just keep downloading songs and buy these quieter instruments separately
- dorkdork777, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15Hopefully this will cost less in Europe than the original Rock Band.
$180 != £180
Charging us $360 for one game isn't acceptable. *****, it costs more than an _Xbox_ 360. - lynx44, on 06/30/2008, -2/+16I just don't support Guitar Hero anymore because Activision isn't allowing their peripherals to be cross-compatible. I'm not buying a new set of peripherals for all the different music games that are coming out. I also think some of their music choices are questionable.
- EvilCan, on 06/30/2008, -6/+19What does this have to do with Blu Ray movies?
- ZachTorpy, on 06/30/2008, -0/+13The Guitar is a game?
- tapo, on 06/30/2008, -2/+15GH became 'uncool' because Harmonix no longer develops it, and Activision is determined to run the franchise into the ground - not because it became popular. GH is nothing but a name now, and the franchise really lives on in RB.
- funkdr, on 06/30/2008, -0/+13higher quality drums is a must!
- roxya, on 06/30/2008, -5/+17One is made by Harmonix, the other one sucks.
:) - AsgardsAvenger, on 06/30/2008, -0/+10You obviously haven't played E.T.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 06/30/2008, -0/+10I'm sure you'll be able to do that if you want. I plan on just purchasing the stand-alone game. $60 for a whole new batch of songs on the disc is fair in my eyes, not to mention online world tour.
- DMFlash, on 06/30/2008, -1/+10I'm anxious to see what the new drum set will be like. I'm really digging the GHWT drum set for it's raised cymbals, wonder what features Rock Band 2 will bring to the table.
Fingers crossed for actually playable pedal, and/or a double pedal :) - juckman, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9No, the article doesn't say anything about songs that come with Rock Band 1 on the disc. If you read the article you would know the question is unanswered.
- Krystof82, on 06/30/2008, -1/+10Releasing for xbox360 in September and other platforms later? Wow, all of a sudden I know how the European's and Wii owners felt when they had to wait.
- Charron, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9Give it two weeks. There'll probably be a lot more details at E3.
- adamnst, on 06/30/2008, -1/+10Just hit the yellow fret (or kick pedal). It will change the sorting method and bring you back up to the top.
- thethorax, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9I ripped through Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home in the game last night, then picked up my Martin Acoustic and worked out the intro on my "real instrument".
My point is that it is simply a fun game that inspires me to pick up new songs outside of the game.
Can't wait for RB2! - gr0ss, on 06/30/2008, -6/+14There better be some Tool on this game. Not DLC either, it better be on the disc.
- CaptEnder, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8I dugg you up because, yeah, it took me a minute too. Good to know I wasn't the only one. And thanks Skippy, for not being an ass.
- sajuuk, on 06/30/2008, -3/+11so nobody cares that it will be less than a year since the FIRST Rock Band came out? This combined with Spore, Fable 2, and Fallout 3 in the fall too...my poor wallet...
- screwzluse, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8I'd love to see a new guitar.. I've always preferred the Guitar Hero guitar over the Rock Band guitar. It just seems like the soft feel of the strummer isn't right. I know some people like it more, guess I'm not one of those people. ;)
- jessenoob, on 06/30/2008, -4/+12It's sad these guys don't get the reference.
