With all the Nintendo Buzz on the Internet, they may do very well this Generation. - Psykus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Super Smash Brothers Online....*drool*

as do I - jayf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Thank you! Nintendo always puts quality game play first.
M$ and Sony fan boys need to realize that this eternal battle of realistic graphics is pointless. All you end up with is "reality", which is essentially free if you dare get your butt up off the couch and go outside.
Nintendo is about letting you stomp on goombas, something you can only do in a Peyote-induced dream world. - arcanelinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just for you Tech Illiterite One so what if it doesnt have HD support most of the TV inside your homes dont. Duh. Thats like have DSL without the DSL router. SO unless you paln on buying a HD TV your acctually getting ripped. What asses
- mbwilliamson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is HD really necessary for this console? IMO, who gives a damn about how pretty and detailed games look. Games/gameplay should be above all criteria. The Halos and Metal Gears looked great, but people loved them because of their gameplay.
- GolfDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the future of gaming starts with the revolution..
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems about right, since the Broadway chip was JUST RECENTLY reveiled to Nintendo, that the full system probably won't be finished before E3... let alone retail production.
- saggygrandma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
- dvdcr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so when will it be on the market? damn.. i cannot wait!!
- Jarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0....along with every other developer in the world.
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never understood why people demand more hype, I don't really care if Nintendo wants to hold all the info in the world, it's what's out there when the system drops that is important.
- TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^indeed...thats worth buying the system all by itself
since it looks like the reumored SSBDS is never coming to fruition :( - thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1DUPE! Didn't I see this story a year ago? Seriosly???
- mbwilliamson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't hold your breath...Nintendo loves to delay things.
- danieldglambert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YAY my 18th birthday is may 9th!
- thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0HD IS a big factor, because even though most of the population doesn't have it at the moment, the kind of people who buy consoles (tech people) WILL be more likely to have it. Plus we are looking to the analog cut-off in a few years, so this next console generation will be the one where a lot more people will be buying high-def sets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bchacker, if you do happen to get a Revolution for your birthday and still decide you do not want it, e-mail me. I'd be more than happy to give you my mailing address so you can unload it.
- lostinthefire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0super smash brothers online would be so dope!!!
- GolfDude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1sony will say " look a what we got!" a cell chip!
whoop de friggen doo
cya in 2007 you waste of cash - Fennmacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I turn 14 on Aug. 17! I hope the rev. comes out before then but either way i will get one because i can buy one with my own money. Thanks Nintendo for pricing this $100-$250!
- mntpng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a feeling these guys will do a better job of quality control than Microsoft. Also I'm willing to bet money that their power supply unit isn't going to be the size of the ghost trap from the movie Ghostbusters.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's a long time to wait for information...still, at least it's confirmation.
- GolfDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hd has nothing to do with gaming at all.. this is about new things and creativity.. not just changing graphics.. whats the need of hd games anyway... graphics isnt everything..
- TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0seeing that the system will be released a month later, i thought an unveiling at E3 to be a little obvious...still dugg though because confirmation is always good
- *Legion*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't been more interested in the Revolution over the PS3, but now that Nintendo has an online plan and Sony STILL doesn't, that might change. Nobody has been as on top of online console play as Microsoft, who has SOMEHOW managed to instill - god I hate to say it - brand loyalty (omg) in me for one of their products. I think I'm going to be sick from typing that.
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"the future of gaming starts with the revolution.."
This coming generation of consoles just aren't good for today. I can't wait till real good consoles come out in the future. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is going to be BIG.
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey kirin
I dont know what your talking about do you... lets use an example oh yes the PSP it had great graphic capabilities and the ability to do great stuff but who cares the games are crap the movies are over priced and the memory sticks are expensive.... so when you say that graphics let developers do things that they couldnt do before is flat out wrong.... like the nintendo they couldnt do a lot graphicly but does that mean that the games suck.. aboslutly not. Yes at first not many game devolopers knew what to do with the touch screen. but that is because theyve never had to think of ideas that would require that. now that developers have time to think of things they are comming out with better games that fully utilize the touch screen.... so stop with the bs - Puwwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mntpng what do you mean by quality control? If your talking about standby it is an issue with all online services and many people have been banned on xbox live for doing it. Also if your talking about Halo 2 modding, they are detected by Halo 2 and then added to a list that is put into effect every every 6 hrs for people to be banned. Halo 2 wouldn't have this problem if people didn't release all this stuff for Action Replay but the people that do it defiantly have a low self esteem. So if you think that Revolution can fix standby with its online service bring it on. Also who cares about the PSU. Most people won't even see it and its just another excuse to say "Hey Microsoft, i hate you because all the other people online hate you so I'm going to say one thing that is flawed with the console over and over again"
- themajor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0say what you want about nintendo, but they have withstood the test of time.. so far. I'm not going to be so bold as to say that they will win the next gen war, but you have to respect them. I own a PS2 and am waiting for the PS3, but i have been tempted to buy a GC and perhaps a revolution just because nintendo's games are solid and just plain fun. (i.e. zelda mario)
- bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bought a 30" widescreen 1080i capable HDTV monitor 2 years ago for $600. A bit steep but Metroid Prime looked markedly better in widescreen 480p than 480i. I'd be upset if they don't at least allow for 1080i for developers who so wish it.

^posted a year ago, 'thecapitalizt'? - maskd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oooo, one day after my birthday, it'll be 2 good days in a row!
- red7ine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0warms my heart to see all the Nintendo support. I'll take a fun game over a 'realistic' game any day of the week.

You too? This is the first console I will actually buy on release rather than wait for Christmas...

High Def resolutions can be added to the Revolution at a later date. All HD means is that the console supports 720(possibly 1080) scanlines instead of just 480. All games are always going to have to work in 480i(Standard Def).
It's likely that the Revolution WILL support HD from the get go, but that Nintendo won't be forcing developers to use it.
Gameplay is going to suffer for a lot of games that are being forced to support 720p.
360 developers can make their games HD by:
1. Waste time rendering everything perfectly for 720p, knowing that 95% of the people playing your game are running 480i.
2. Have the user choose smooth frame rates art 480 or pretty stills at 720p, like Quake 4
3. Render everything at an in-between resolution and scale up to 720 or down to 480, like PGR3 does.
I think most next-gen developers would generally choose to only support 480i/p, and for good reasons. - ibis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just hope people other than Nintendo make games for it. As this stage I'll buy either a PS3 or X360 so that I've got something with a lot of games. Then I'll get a Revolution too, because I'm a ***** idiot and Nintendo own me. Damn you Nintendo, damn you to hell...
- hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kirin
Not true. Try playing Electroplankton/Nintendogs without the touch screen. it opened up new possibilities for developers to be clever. Without a clever developer, the new mechanic is pointlesss, but with a clever developer, it opens up a new world of possibilities. - stalkingu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*just read some other coments, 2 peeps turning 18 on the same day and the revolution is unveiled. to cool.
- stalkingu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well its cool cos it being reveled on my 18th birthday
- Osiriscky3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this makes me wanna play duck hunt
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dont you guys know that at the last E3 they said it may be for release in march? I guess you guys dont pay attention that much. Why would they talk about it in may if it was going to released maybee a month before. -digg
- Farker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mark my words, stocks in nappy companies will soar when the Revolution approaches release date. There will be many people wetting themselves over this.
- Terjon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One more little comment regarding adding support for HD later. You can do it, and I fully agree with the fact that a lot of the people can't use the full capabilities of the 360 right now. However, the lifecycle for a console right now is about 4-6 years (last gen was really short). Think about 5 years from now, by then all TV will be in HD. If I remember correctly the FCC's plan was for 2007 for all TV to be in HD (please correct me if I'm wrong). This means that in a couple of years you'll have two options: get a convertor and have all TV look like crap since downscaling on the fly just doesn't sound like a good idea; or get an HDTV. Now seeing as prices have been dropping quite steeply I will have to say that option sounds like the more feasible thing to do.
At that point Nintendo will have to add HD support or have some serious issues on their hands. Trust me rendering something on a higher resolution screen with a lower resolution sucks (I do it with my PS2 and my TV capture card and I see far too many imperfections). Now if this was the 360, I'd say no prob. You have a hard drive, you have an internet connection, can anyone say 360 service packs? But seeing as Nintendo doesn't have a hard drive, it just seems a little scary to have to update firmware or a console over an internet connection. They could do it, and with the fine programmers over at Nintendo I have no doubt that they will find a way to add support for HD and make me buy a new overpriced accesory (sorry, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has made me a little bitter). But don't you think that it would be better if they had that option enabled at launch, just for posterity's sake. - Terjon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not to sound like a Microsoft whore, but the whole keeping the system under wraps until the last second is a little old. Plus, the price issue is still hanging in my mind. In my humble opinion, the only way they'll be able to seriously compete is by undercutting the competition. Seeing how the price for the competition's systems seems to be in the 300-400 range right now, they'll have to put it at 200-250 just to get people to buy them. I mean the new controller is a cool idea, but let's face it a lot of people have just gotten used to ten buttons, two analog sticks and a crescent shaped controller and having to first get used to a totally new control scheme will certainly put off more than a few people.
I also don't see how they can release a console which is in the same processor ballpark as the 360 and PS3 and price it low enough to be able to sell well. There was a report last week stating that Microsoft is losing about $100 per unit with the 360. And that's Microsoft who has more money than god and can just swallow losses and just make them up later through Live subscriptions and game sales. Nintendo stated that their online component will be free and we all know that Nintendo's always been about having lower priced games (for the most part). I'm hoping for the best since this is going to be a truly revolutionary system, but I just don't see the economics of it looking too well for the big N. - Hieros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Let's hope they have at least SOME sort of price thing going for them. If it's under $200 I'm going to buy one instead of a $400 Xbox or a $500 PS3
