- Darkangel754, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5It's a shame that Resident Evil has turned into a non scary action game. Resident Evil 4 was great and all but it really wasn't a Resident Evil, the only thing it had was the same characters.
RE5 looks too much like RE4, some stuff looks almost exactly the same, such as the death animation for the villagers as well as the aiming and picking stuff up (okay maybe those last two things can't really be improved :p). I feel Capcom has been trying to make the games more and more mainstream and the adition of online co op makes me think that even more.

I see your point, but the cheesiness of the acting in RE4 was one of the fun things about the game. Though the graphical realism in RE5 ought to be complimented by some proper acting. - Jhiaxuz, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1I have to agree. I felt that RE4 was out of place in the series in that it was not based on anything relative to the previous titles other than characters and the vague mention of Umbrella at the very end. It sort of reminded me of scenes in Devil May Cry at times, honestly. That's not to say it was a bad game, I enjoyed it for what it was and it did have some nice, practical features which added depth to the RE universe. The live action sequences in the videos were also a pain in the ass. I want to enjoy a good video while not having to sweat about which buttons to push to progress and miss important information.
Maybe it's just me and you, but I miss the campy B tone this game has given us in the past. Compare RE4 to RE2 (or any other RE) in terms of atmosphere or story and they are worlds a part. Even the music seems to have been toned down to give a feeling of less dread. But, I am positive it is not going to be RE4 in Africa. They'll have enough divergence from the prequels. Then again, Capcom did make Megaman...
