- 1iProd, on 10/29/2007, -3/+304The author of the blog responded to one of the commentors, "Yes… I am more comfortable with the zombies being white. In fact, ALL zombies should be white from this day forth." Who the hell is the racist here??
- warfidem, on 10/29/2007, -5/+203Hi Holy Hell I say!
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Just because games are now in HD and we are afforded the opportunity of UBER realism doesn't mean we are now spreading racism.
Black people are soooooooo sensitive (Yes I am Black) about how we are portrayed. Because of eons of misrepresentation, fine. But guess what? That doesn't really happen any more, cuz when it does, we raise all high holy hell and something happens. People don't like to look at themselves and see the ugly. Many filmakers are now deciding to show the UGLY, Hotel Rowanda, Blood Diamond, The Last King of Scotland, Black Hawk Down, Shaka ZULU!!!
The white man doesn't have to go and hunt down "Africans" they do it to themselves and laugh over greed. Blacks love to say, "My Brother" but the second you don't give him what he wants he'll stab you in the back for someone else. Racism that.
This game aint no different than any of the others. It's a game about someone's right to live when there are things trying to kill them. "Oh my god these virus infected blood thirsty beings have black skin, I can't shoot them because I'll be labeled a racist, lemme just get eaten and wished i was in the previous game and they were white." - shinythingy, on 10/29/2007, -0/+173So basically to end racism in games we should only put white people in games and forget about every other race of people?
This is the definition of stupidity - APHughes, on 10/29/2007, -21/+187BREAKING NEWS: Black People had nothing to bitch about today
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/29/2007, -1/+131You're in Africa...killing off infected citizens of the country. How would this be any different from killing off infected people in Spain... or the US? They're no longer "humans" after they're zombies. Geez, I think we have a new breed of Jack Thompson here.
- sp1keNARF, on 10/29/2007, -0/+127As a Zombie, I am offended by the whole series. I don't understand why my people's hunger for brains makes us the target of so many racist games and movies. We need to eat! Please Capcom, ditch your racist ways and show targets other than Zombies and my mutant creature cousins.
- 8bitflu, on 10/10/2007, -8/+119If only there was a Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton zombie Boss Battle in the game.
- chris9902, on 10/29/2007, -3/+105was your first thought (a) they're zombies or (b) they're black?
If you answered B then you're a racist. And that includes the author. - justblaze2319, on 10/29/2007, -0/+99Resident Evil 4 had Spaniards in it, did anyone claim racism then? I doubt it.
- lordtyros, on 10/29/2007, -0/+88No it's not. As an African, I'm fine with having all the zombies being Black. If the game were to take place in the midwest, I'd be fine with all the zombies being white. If the game were to take place on Mars, I'd be fine with all the zombies being Martian. It's not racist if it's completely accurate.
This is like saying it's racist that Africans are Black. - Radica1Faith, on 10/10/2007, -1/+87What are they complaining about? I'm Filipino, and I never get to see Filipino zombies, or really Filipino anything in video games. If Resident Evil 6 took place in Manilla, I'd be like ***** YES, FILIPINO ZOMBIES! It would get me to care more about my heritage. And isn't that whats important?
- JackMacBastard, on 10/10/2007, -4/+77I was talking to a friend of mine from College about this very thing. He said that he was disgusted with how little his people have been portrayed as zombies in the Resident Evil series. We went down the list and could only remember two in the past. He also said he didn't give a ***** because he isn't African.
- IanPatterson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+72But....They're in Africa? no ***** there's black people
- floridiot2, on 10/10/2007, -6/+75Capcom does not care about black people.
- JackMacBastard, on 10/10/2007, -10/+74I also hear the working title for the series was Black Rage only they decided it may be too controversial, and went for Resident Evil instead.
- Anrkist, on 10/10/2007, -5/+65I think it would be more plausible if they were in Africa killing White Zombies.. don't you?
- 30thElement, on 10/10/2007, -0/+44No, if the shooter was black than they would be "glamorizing gang violence"
- TehSwat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39From now on, games with violence, the main character can only harm characters of the same race.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/23/2007, -0/+31i'm black
and i loved the trailer and honestly cant wait to play the game
some people just need to get over themselves. - justinx0r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30"Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people."
Yeah, Capcom is training a whole new generation of children to commit ethnic cleansing against black people. - thatsmyaibo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29White Zombie rocks...
- thepars, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31Why is it only racist when it involves anybody but caucasians? Resident evil 4 was set in Spain, had Spanish people and you blow their heads off just as you will in Resident Evil 5. I still haven't heard a complaint. People are blowing this way out of proportion and I think this is probably their first introduction to the series and they somehow think that all the games have a white caucasian man killing black african people. Maybe if they played all the games they would realise that the other games have been set in other places and the people in the game represent the setting which is of course realistic. Should they fill a game set in Africa with white people? It's just not realistic.
- Rogpog777, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28And nobody said ***** when the zombies were basically all white in REs 1-3???
God, how ignorant people can be. I will give my left nut if Rev. Al Sharpton DOESN'T speak out about this
My right one if Jack Thompson doesn't..... - swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31This game looks AMAZING! Good lord, if 1/3rd of that trailer was gameplay, holy crap... As far as the racism thing, it's all good if the person slaughtering black zombies is also black, right? They can just swap out the texture, make him a little darker, and bam! Ship it.
- newJxE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26Don't you just love it when people see one trailer and they think they know everything about a game. Do some research and you'll see that the past series have used spaniards, white people and black people. I can't stand ignorant opinions.
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26Black people invented zombies.
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23They'll complain if all black people are left out of the game, too. The only solution is to make the playable character black, and all the NPCs in the game white. Oh wait, the GTA series has shown they'll complain about that too.
- Pritchard, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Damn! They're BLACK? I didn't even notice till this site mentioned it. Guess I just thought that the guy in the video was shooting zombies. Sheesh. That site really opened my eyes to just how racist I am. Here I always thought true racism came from trying to look like you weren't racist and avoiding any situations where you insert a minority into the mainstream media (And thus having a hidden layer of racism that's less outspoken), but apparently simply accepting people of all races as plausible zombies is the real segregati. . . er, racism.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Think of it, a game with multicultural strike team where you have to swap control between team members based no the race of the oncoming enemies.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Not to mention, most zombie myths originated in Africa, as far as I know. The zombies were white in every single other RE game and you never saw white people up in arms over it.
- Fire4Effect, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21I propose a "seperate but equal policy" for the undead. Which in reality would mean white zombies get to feast on obese adults, while black zombies are left with the 18 and under crowd and emo kids. All who are left living must also wears signs that either say "Black Zombie Food" or "White Zombie Food".
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/10/2007, -11/+31No it's the definition of Anime.
- daftfunk1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20It's not like the game takes place in Alabama and all of the zombies are black face, that would be racist. RE 4 took place in Spain hence Spanish zombies. Plus why is it difficult? What is difficult about Africans being black? I will tell you, nothing.
- Jolene, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20I wonder if it would have been found more offensive if it was still set in Africa. And all the zombies were white. Might that imply that there are no black people in Africa...?
- Mediciman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Quick change the Main Characters Skin to black and Make all the Zombies White!
No Racism There. - Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Maybe it's just dirt. Zombies aren't known for their hygiene.
- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Filipino zombies? Awesome. Cause filipinos are ***** difficult to take down normally (dudes can certainly hold their liquor)...With zombie strength, they'd clearly be total bastards.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Ironically, it's this website devoted to African women that is being racist.
- sunshinemonster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17So, why didn't this person speak up for the Spanish ganados who were killed in RE4? Everybody has to have everything just perfect for themselves. Get over it, i'm burying this story as lame, i'm sure (or atleast hope) capcom ignores this person.
- MonsterChaOS, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Finally, the white people will have vengeance for GTA:SA!
...an equally stupid statement. - juckman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17They're in Haiti, actually. Either way, I'm sure if there was a zombie infestation, and it infected Chinatown, she would have no problems with law enforcement / military going in there and killing Asians. They're not just black people, they're infected black people and they're probably better off dead. Sheesh...
- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -10/+26nappy headed hos always need something to complain about
- elvenseven, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20The real question is do the zombies use Darkie toothpaste?
- expert01, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Boo ***** hoo. If they made a game about a black person that killed white people (that's it, no story line, no extra characters, just a black guy at the shooting range with white people targets), no one would say a word.
- rhcpinc8, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16O Its a problem for the blacks to die in RE 5, but all the hispanics in RE 4 are expendable, some people need to chill
- meshgiath, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14I feel sorry for the people at this blog. They're too blinded by their own pride in their never ending search for hate that they don't realize that they're the ones (a la Al Sharpton) that are responsible for perpetuating racism. Let's face it, you can't look for ill-will and hate without knowing it well enough to find it, and if you know it that well....
It would die if we'd leave it alone so that it COULD die. Let it die Kym. Every time you stir the pot, you are personally responsible for unearthing the proud few ignorant racists out there. - 0two, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Fact: If you're offended by this game, you're racist. It's that simple.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Black peopel don't care about black people. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson anyone? These two black men have more hamr than good for blacks all in the name of publicity.
- Gornall, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17People need to get a ***** life. Racism is so last year.
- jonnyeh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Available for the PC. Sorry, bad pun :(
