- flakmunkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Umm, it's E3, its gunna stay this way for the rest of the week. You shall have your digg back on monday!
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14This news is most excellent.
With the changes they were prepared to make to the Resident Evil control scheme for RE4, and the fact that we know Capcom is willing to try something different (Resident Evil: Gun Survivor) as well as the strength of the actual series. . .
This can only be good.
Also, I know that Gun Survivor (is that the name? I only played it once) had a terrible control scheme, but a G-Con compared to a Wiimote . . . that's going to wield some significantly different results. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14mjaleo: My advice is to simply not click on the stories you dislike. Don't waste my time, and yours, commenting on how you don't like Wii stories. Thanks in advance...
- ScottJG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Ive always wanted to point my Wii at zombies. Now I get that chance.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9No. Not really.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Typing of the Dead was fun, ok?
- spamminator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10It's the flood of stories coming out of E3. I'm sure it'll stop in the next few days.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Digg is where you digg interesting stuff. Insane amounts of interesting Wii stuff is coming out. Thus, there are many front page Wii articles.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Digg doesn't have editors. Stories make the front page when we the users Digg them. The reason you're seeing so many video game oriented stories is because E3 is generating a tremendous amount of game news. Just as you can expect to have a whole lot of stories about politicians on the mainstream news near election time, E3 means loads of video game news on the geekweb.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, I couldn't sit through Gun Survivor because of the awful control scheme. I think there was a version with the light gun in Japan but it never made it over here.. or they removed the light gun functionality. I forget.
Imagine holding the Wii remote in your hands, feelings the blast of the gun (force feedback), and hearing it shoot (speaker on controller), as you blow that zombie's head clear off with your shotgun.
In fact, I can't wait! - dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hmm... hopefully I don't get killed when I jump after being startled like I did on the other Gamecube RE's.
Probably some of the best titles of the last generation, and easily some of the best looking. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Resident Evil Wii? Resident Wiivil?
Wow, Nintendo sure know's how to make intimidating games. I bet the guys at Capcom were pissed when the Revolution's name was announced. - korimickster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@mjaleo
Stop crying, dude. E3 is huge... how can you expect to NOT see 1000 interesting technology articles coming from such an event? - Radscott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I made one of my worst tech decisions ever by choosing a Cube over PS2 or XBox just so I could keep playing Resident Evil games. I swore that it would be my last Nintendo hardware purchase ever. Now? I'm not so sure. I'm certainly not going to drop 5 or 6 Benjamins on a new console.
dugg just because of Resident Evil, frankly. - Inthearmor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6YES! This will be awesome! The new level of immersion the Wii will give is going to be awesome. I think it's safe to say the games will be much scarier, feel much more realistic, and tons funner on the Wii.
- zengonzo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5
Stop concerning yourself with modding so much.
It's just how the users edit the process. It's not a reflection of you as a person.
Go do some self-affirmation exercises in the mirror. - Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow, the Wii keeps sounding better and better. Dam i cant wait!
- bjohnsonwsu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5...or typing of the dead?
- JesseH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That is awesome I would even love to see RE4 be ported over to take advantage of the wiimote.
- onelove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cant wait to buy my Wiiii
- uttles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It would still need some redesign to take full advantage of the remote.
- vatechtigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3oh man, I get more and more excited for the nintendo every day. I havent bought a new console since PS1 as i have been content with counterstrike and battlefield on the PC, PS3 and 360 are just more of the same. The Wii looks like its goind to be seriously fun. And who doesnt love playing drinking games to mario cart. lose a shell, take a shot. sweet.
- muyuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...and just check the shotgun controller accesory in the first part of this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4wnkLKgfgQ
Perfect for this game.
(The second part is about Super Mario Galaxies, for those interested). - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@aniseed: "Well, I for one have no problem imagining a gun being shot, generating force feedback and hearing a sound SINCE ALL CURRENT FPS'S (on all current consoles) HAVE THAT."
Considering the PS3 won't have force feedback, a controller that can mimick lightgun technology, or a speaker in the remote for ambient sounds--and no console has ever offered all three--I doubt you've actually experienced it. Let's take a look at the features one by one.
1. Shooting a gun--Not even remotely the same as using a traditional controller in an FPS. Lightguns might offer some of the features of the wiimote but Nintendo has really taken it to the next level (and lightguns won't even work on LCD/Plasma screens). The tilt sensors in the Sony won't offer this functionality at all.
2. Force feedback--Systems have been offering this for years, although the feature is strangely absent from the PS3.
3. Speaker in the remote: To the best of my knowledge this feature has never been offered before. I thought it was a gimmick at first but I think it could be really cool for supplemental sound effects that even surround sound can't hope to match. Imagine hearing the crack of a bat; the hum of a lighsaber; the clank of a 9 iron; all positioned exactly where you would expect. Sure you hear the sounds now--but with the sounds coming from the controller, combined with the virtual reality aspect of the games it may really add to the experience. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@aniseed
So you can't get up from the sofa? Hell whats wrong with a little exercise? Sad thing is that this might be the only exercise someone will get. - afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh no! Its a mature game for the Wii! But that's the kiddie console! My entire world view has disintegrated in front of my eyes!
(That was sarcasm directed at the insecure teenagers that think Nintendo consoles are somehow uncool) - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is anyone else anticipating a lame "Boo!" or other sound coming from the controller at a random time just to get you to jump? I hate crap like that.
- liveinabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh my word, I can just imagine using the Wii remote as a chainsaw. :)
- GrundlTerror, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ok RE 1 - 3 were about the same RE4 was a huge change for the series and that was still using the standard controller. I imagine this game won't be more of the same, get ready for some brand new RE style zombie killing. Hopefully they'll stick to the "more killing is better" philosophy of RE4.
- fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, cause Nintendo will have contracts that force publishers to use the product name in their titles.
- marcus_r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As long as you don't have to use the Revolution's controller to combat the (once) awful camera system, sounds great ^_^
- rishid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Imagine being able to use this with the new gun, have the wii -mote in left hand and gun in right. Wow wii has some SERIOUS potential of dominating these next gen consoles.
Let's see if Nintendo can pull it off. - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1more good news for the wii. This has just cemented my decision.
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just hope it's not like RE:Outbreak
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It doesn't need to be ported. The Wii is backwards compatible.
- NegroSuave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmmm... Silent Hill with the Wii Mote emeating the radio crackle on a dark night alone... That sounds a million kinds of awesome
- Ignitedude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wii Conductor Confirmation
http://sickr.wordpress.com/2006/05/10/wii-conductor/ - Math-Sux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not into games, but Resident Evil rocks! Every game console that I have purchased since the original Playstation has been because of a new version of Resident Evil came out. Once I finish the game I either return the system or sell it. I believe RE5 isn't due out until the end of the year (on 360). This Wii is starting to look interesting...When is it coming out again?
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Company X has announced a new Game X game exclusively for Nintendo's Wii. The game will take advantage of the system's unique controller."
...somehow works for every game announced for Wii so far... ;-) - graywolf323, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1am thinking it might be like those Resident Evil: Dead Aim games on PS2
- theonlyrockstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I peed went I read the official article.
- djdarkside, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1here's hoping
- dallen, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6I love me some Wii, but you have a point. There have been times I though I was Wiigg.com
- GrundlTerror, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I imagine that it is a very early stage of development at this point. Usually the process is announcement > pics > trailer > game. Don't blow your whole load at once.
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Wii is, bar none, the most exciting element in console gaming right now, so it's natural that people will go ***** over it. But just like Halo-mania and that damn Firefly movie, eventually the coverage will die down. It *is* E3 this week, you know?!
- tobiasproject, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2in resident evil voice: RESIDENT EVIL WII ZERO! or BIOHAZARD WI, TWO!
- galfridus73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Typing of the Dead rocked.
Pinball of the Dead (GBA) is even better. - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Think...slashing zombies with your wiimote. Mmm brains... :)
- latca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@aniseed
The tilt sensor wouldn't be trivial. It could be used to reload like in the House of the Dead 4 arcade game - JoeCool1986, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The phrase, "the game will take advantage of the system's unique controller" is going to soley be responsible for Microsoft and Sony's undoing.
Maybe I'm being a little over-dramatic. But I'm a Nintendo fanboy, what can I say? -
