- fusuke31, on 12/13/2007, -1/+46Way better than watching the crap they air on TV
- Alphateam, on 12/13/2007, -1/+43And 100% of the crimes were committed by those 63%. There was no crime before video games.
-Jack Thompson - Tserk, on 12/13/2007, -1/+34The presidential candidates can start pandering to us gamers now? Pandering is lame, except when it's to me.
- MikeonTV, on 12/13/2007, -4/+33My grandmother sent me the link to this on XBox live, so it's gotta be true.
- Dundasbro, on 12/13/2007, -0/+23Grandma called me a ***** n00b :(
- Hermiod, on 12/13/2007, -1/+21Of course, these means that TV and Politicians will ramp up their efforts to demonise video games in their desperate bid to keep the remaining 37%. I'm expecting a CSI Miami episode where a video game actually directly kills someone. With a knife.
- Hermiod, on 12/13/2007, -0/+19Before or after she scored that perfect headshot on you from across the map ?
- Kerath, on 12/13/2007, -0/+19Are they including solitaire and suchlike?
- SeventhSon, on 12/13/2007, -0/+14You'd have a lot more time if you didn't tell everyone your life story.
- AwesomeMonster, on 12/13/2007, -0/+13... You're one of those guys huh?
- Hermiod, on 12/13/2007, -0/+13Hardly, they're all playing Brain Training and Wii Sports.
- thespudmall, on 12/13/2007, -2/+14The other 37% are the elderly.
- Azimuth1, on 12/13/2007, -0/+12Misleading, because playing crappy pre-installed on your mobile phone counts as playing video games.
- hansk, on 12/13/2007, -0/+12*yawn* you blab like a chick
- EtherGnat, on 12/13/2007, -0/+10Maybe you haven't seen how big a hit the Wii is in retirement homes.
- MaynardJK, on 12/13/2007, -0/+8Your post just really made my day. Thanks for sharing all of that.
- NinjaBoy, on 12/13/2007, -0/+8That would be the best game ever...
- dmac41, on 12/13/2007, -2/+9Nah, you're thinking of 63% of xbox live users.
- bagboyrebel, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6You have absolutely no idea who Jack Thompson is do you?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_%28atto ... - Shawn4168, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6Want a cookie?
- GliTCH82, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6Really, take it easy on schoolwork. For instance, if you find yourself writing short essays on the internet where people normally don't give a ***** about what you do in your personal time, you're probably overdoing it.
- EtherGnat, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5People of all ages have always enjoyed playing games. It was only a matter of time before they turned electronic. People who were teenagers when Pong came out are in their 50s now. Even people who completely predate videogames are now playing Solitaire, Bingo, Brain Age, or Bejeweled on computers.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5vs. about 97% in Japan (if you include the porno games where the object is to rape a schoolgirl).
- Mullinsmcd, on 12/13/2007, -1/+5This is funny because I just walked by a table of coworkers at lunch talking about how their boyfriends/ex's who played videogames were such children and how it makes them look immature. I hope that by the time I'm a senior, the US culture will have embraced gaming so much that a same group of women will be talking about how their their b/fs don't play ENOUGH games with them.
- NathanielJ, on 12/13/2007, -0/+4"The sample included 5,039 members of the NPD Group's online consumer panel, and the majority of the respondents said that games were a good way to alleviate stress and unwind."
Um, biased sample much? Do you really think that members of an online consumer panel are representative of the population as a whole? Unless this article left out some very vital information about how they got their sample, this study gets a fail. - hansk, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3because, like me, we're in the airforce and are posted 1000s of miles away from home on training. and instead of dragging our wives to the ***** we're posted to, we leave them in relative comfort in civilisation.
- hansk, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3Misleading. What do you count as playing video games? A co-worker of mine refuses to admit he plays, yet he acknowledges that he plays an hour of scrabble over the internet everyday with his wife.
- CaffeinePowered, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3Hooray for casual gaming
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/edit ... - inactive, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3No, people will die as you kill them in the game. That's a much better premise.
- Shawn4168, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2No, they'll just come up with some sort of tax on video games. Kinda like what they do now with cigarettes and gasoline.
- liquidjamm, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2Yeah good move, writers. Soon you'll find yourself out of job.
- Shawn4168, on 12/13/2007, -0/+29 million WoW players worldwide < 190 million Americans
- M724, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2So we can expect political conflicts will be resolved through big team deathmatches through Xbox Live sometime in the next 10 years.
- smackhero, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2i think it's more likely that you are mentally ill if what others choose to do in their free time bothers you so much.
- cphelps, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3I'm pretty sure the figure of 190 million is referring to the 63% who play video games.... L2read.
- EtherGnat, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2It's only immature if you're neglecting other things in your life. That's what I love about the Wii--it turned gaming from a solitary activity that pulled me away from my family (although in moderation) to something that was fun for everybody to play together.
- uberfu, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2maybe 'cause Gen X is starting to hit middle age?
- WhereAmI, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1I haven't noticed anything too bad while playing my 32 player Warhawk battles. Except this bastard named Naxx. Blocked his ass.
- LuCiFer6, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1I think the Nintendo Wii is playing huge part in this story.
- Shaflugi, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1No, to show that the people that DON'T play games are the weird ones.
- foomojive, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1This is one to send to all your friends and family that think you're weird because you play video games.
- ehal256, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1i know quite a few adults that play video games, they aren't mentally ill. :D
- sk545, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1what percentage are on digg?
- buryyourhead, on 12/15/2007, -0/+1The title is actually Report: 63 percent of US population prefers video games over sex
- MrFunions, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1I actually thought it would be higher than that. I wonder what they consider playing.
- Lixie, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1i didn't know 63 percent of America was male
- battletrax, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Dugg, only because the creepy 666 digs creeps me out.
- Dracusis, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Digg isn't myspace. Go make a blog or something, no one here cares about your life.
- Trykt, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1Whoever dug this comment down needs to ***** explain immediately.
- Kishoba, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Getting older sucks!
