- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27How are you screwed? Your 360 does everything you bought it for, no?
- 8dot3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19I don't feel screwed in any way if this turns out to be true.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Do people with older generation ipods bitch when Apple rolls out new ipods? No, this is pretty much the same thing. You bought something a year ago, if they come out with something this year, chances are its going to be improved! Yours still works and performs well? Then don't complain! (not referring to the person I'm replying to, just to be clear)
- gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13me neither. i paid for a xbox 360, thats what i got, i'm pleased. people act like its bad that they're improving the 360 just because they aren't getting it.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I have a feeling Loldongsx2 is the same person as Macrocosm. I wonder why...
Macrocosm: "Member Since: January 16, 2007"
Loldongsx2: "Member Since: January 16, 2007" - iPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Or they can leave the fans in and take care of what is really causing the noise problem: the dvd drive.
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I might be alone on this, but the article and the term 'IPTV configuration' leaves me with the feeling that it'll just be a bigger hard drive. Maybe a HDMI port. I can live comfortably without an HDMI port, though I'd like a larger hard drive even without IPTV.
I would like a spec announcement to be made so we'd have something other then speculation to go on. - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They've already said IPTV can be available via a dash update. Stop whining.
- Goya, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Still on first here.
- xero9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Exactly like iPirate said, it's the DVD drive. Turn your console on without a disc in it and listen. It's not that loud.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Its pretty much a confirmation. Look, just as Apple wouldn't have 'confirmed' the iPhone coming out if you had asked a representative a month ago, MS wouldn't 'confirm' an upgraded 360 until they feel its ready to be announced properly.
- tbartolucci, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My only concern with any of this is the games. That is why I bought a 360. I would only be pissed if some new version of the 360 played:
1. games I couldn't play on my version of the 360
2. my 360 had to play inferior versions of games that were available for newer 360. - kaiserh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm pretty sure IPTV works without a cable card since it only works on certain cable companies networks.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm so glad I waited...
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I didn't buy a PS2 for anything other than to be a gaming machine. So, if Sony came out with a PS2 that had DVR capability, I wouldn't care.
- Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Of course, if Microsoft really wanted to, they could just turn on the ability to plug in an external drive via USB.
- SamiJam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So will it have the 65nm CPU as well?
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the IPTV and DVR sound great but I want to take my time before upgrading / purchase. I would never leave this on when I am out of my house as it gets way too hot (not even 4 fans would keep this cool). I am thinking they need to have a liquid cooling system in order to keep it on.
Finally, after having to have my 360 repaired and replaced a bunch of times I had the opportunity to talk directly with the Director of Service for the Xbox 360. I mentioned to him that I would be willing to pay more a year for live if :
(1) I had my 360 send any issues with directly to the Xbox service group (in a proactive move where they could get an appointment setup and then contact me directly) - this would be like an OnStar system for the 360.
(2) I would love to have access to an Online hard drive / storage space area that I could upload all my hard drive details to prior to sending it for servicing.
If you had a virtual drive via xbox live then you could do all the DVR, game saves, and just about anything you want. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Major Nelson confirms the POSSIBILITY...
Inaccurate. - rude0197, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What a joke IPTV is going to suck. I pray they don't make it a peripheral like the HD DVD, the last thing I want is another cord and powerbick to somehow fit in my ever decreasing outlet space. Thanks MS for thinking out this whole game/movie/TV/internt/PC thing out in advance. Let me guess, It won't synch with a Zune.
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On the other hand, wasn't constant hardware revisions one of the problems that caused the original(atari era) video game boom to crash?
I think the whiners might pipe down if they stopped saying 'New Version of the 360' and started saying, 'Microsoft Zune Center' or something. Playing Xbox/360 games could be a feature of any Microsoft product. - FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unless it supports CableCard, any DVR will be mostly useless since you will be unable to record HD over cable.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who's going to wait until year's end to buy this thing? Bioshock comes out in June.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You should stay away from them and just about anything with a wall plug, you will only break it.
- bcardarella, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I hope that this revision of the 360 comes with an integrated HD-DVD drive. I'm currently a 360 owner and the idea of IPTV, DVR through the 360 is interesting (considering how crappy Comcast's DVR is) but not enough to get me to upgrade. Integrated HD-DVD would be the tipping point for me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Why do people keep posting rumors with misleading headlines like "360 CONSOLE ON THE WAY" as if it's already been confirmed? This is a RUMOR, people, not a confirmed fact. No digg.
- Xanium4332, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I do feel a bit nift about this. I bought my original 360 in the knowledge that it didn't have a HDMI port, but also in the knowledge/expectancy than Microsoft wouldn't turn round and shoot me in the back with one that did. It started looking like this when they brought about the HD-DVD drive, but now my worst fear as happened.
Microsoft always do this, they punish people for jumping on the bandwagon early, and make you pay to get the latest 'thing'. I think they should have kept the 360 as is, because now I feel like MS cheated me! - razorsharp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Microsoft screwing consumers over? Oh no! Don't believe it! Here in Diggland we understand that Microsoft does what's best for us! That's why they hire 30 year olds who pretend to be cool that really care about gaming!
Wake up jackasses. Realize that the whole Sony-is-evil trend is just giving Microsoft the power to screw you over. Embrace (XBox), Extend (Live), Extinguish (DirectX). Of course, most you kids don't know what DirectX or C# or a monopoly is, so I guess you'll find a way to spin this news into a good thing.
Consumer awareness has degraded to the state of a Roman mob. - Oakie1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Well lucky for me, I have a Best Buy warranty, so I can return it for anything and everything that has the same price for the next two years. Hehe.
- DirkVanAss, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1My 5th Xbox 360 just came back from the Repair center today, Even if this is true, having to see a new xbox one more time isn't gonna be TOO BIG of a shock to my system..
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Damn I just got a 360, now I gotta look ahead at all these pimped out versions coming out. =(
- LaTechTech, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Crap! You're already on number five? I thought waiting on my third one sucked hard. Anyone on their sixth one yet?
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I have a feeling Loldongsx2 is the same person as Macrocosm. I wonder why...
Macrocosm: "Member Since: January 16, 2007"
Loldongsx2: "Member Since: January 16, 2007" - Francky, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4The problem I see here, and the reason some of us feel screwed, is that last week Microsoft "revealed" that 360 could do IPTV. Heck, it was posted all over the web.
But now we learn that they might have lied and that only a new version of the 360 could do it. Had this been stated at the same time it wouldn't have been a problem. So, yeah, if my current 360 can't do it... I'll feel cheated. :-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I'll bet they want the shirt off your back for an upgrade.
Just typical of Microsoft - ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2DVR? It needs a MAJOR redesign (at leat 5 fans removed and the sound reduced to nothing) before I would even think about leaving it switched on when i'm not playing it.
- spartan018, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5unless i do have the option to upgrade, i would feel pretty screwed too, unless the new version cost more and didnt replace the standard 360 and was just available as another version. even then though, i'd still feel a little cheated, cuz i didnt have the option to purchase that when i bought my 360. its an iffy situation, and hopefully one M$ will avoid altogether by just making it available as an upgrade, HD-DVD addon style.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -27/+6...I love when I get screwed for being an early adopter.
Then again, someone who buys a 360 ever after the first 1 and a half will still get a bit screwed on this one. Oh well, so goes the life of a consumer, especially a gaming one.
