- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -1/+49I blame crime for all of these violent video games.
- bixby1, on 02/17/2009, -0/+28GTA inspired me to get some hot coffee just now.

- DeviantDragon, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6***** this article, check out the hot female sex offenders in the next slideshow.
- Elohir, on 02/18/2009, -0/+5The only crime GTA's responsible for is Saints Row.
- dngermouse, on 02/17/2009, -1/+6coulda been a great read if it was on one (maybe two) page(s)...
but COME ON how can you blame a video game for your own stupid decisions?
these people might as well be saying "i didn't know carjacking someone was bad before playing GTA" - WesleyD, on 02/18/2009, -0/+4What the ***** is up with these websites that insist on opening up another window just so you can see a stupid list..
I already opened it in a new tab, and NOW I have some other window popping up with content that should've been displayed on the first page anyway.
Buried. - cyrus255, on 02/18/2009, -0/+4Funny, no one ever looks at it in reverse like you said daimonion.
The problem is, it's impossible to make a "list of crimes not committed, because criminals were indoors playing GTA" list. - mastersmite, on 02/18/2009, -1/+5Buried. retarded way of displaying information, nothing on the first page.
- cinnical, on 02/18/2009, -0/+4hey hey, i only robbed that chinatown bank once, quit breaking my balls it wasn't my-hold on... my cousin is calling me.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -0/+3The GTA made me do it Defense is the new Chewbacca defense
- kev0476, on 02/18/2009, -0/+3WTF was that 11 year old girl doing playing GTA?
At least she saved her family because of the game.
GTA for all! - meleemaster500, on 02/18/2009, -0/+212 slides
and this couldn't have been on one page because...?
I also like how it lists like 5 or so teachers who had intercorse with students and immediatly after started listing a bunch of presidents. I'm pretty sure most of those president were not in office during or after GTA, so how is it possible to "blame" gta for anything relating to them? - ChinezePanda, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2I am burying this for the title alone
"Real crimes Inspired by GTA"
That is complete ***** and not even worth a read. I dont care what the article states. YOU CAN NOT blame video games for the psychopathic behavior of crazy individuals. - embolized, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Interesting article...happened relatively recently:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/01/24/miami.shooting ...
Summary: Man with assault rifle opens fire on civilians in the (real) Liberty City. - twishart, on 02/20/2009, -0/+1I mostly enjoy hot coffee at work.
- GlassAgate, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1I really like hot coffee, especially when I'm with a group of really
good friends. - Remelox, on 02/18/2009, -1/+2Okay, so you are saying that a violent game contributes to violence but you are completely ignoring the idea that maybe violent people are drawn to violent games. If I am not drawn to a movie, I am not inspired by it. If I do not like a movie, I do not laugh or cry. Crappy (by my opinion) songs do not motivate me. I might feel rowdy (mateless except for wife) watching martial arts like MMA but not for boxing or WWE. I think there is generally a desire to be aroused to want to watch porn in the first place.
Cause and effect is not so clear when there is a cause to the cause of the effect. Sometimes the second cause is simply a stopping point to the effect and could be dispatched without changing the eventual outcome.
GTA does not make me want to carjack someone. The only problem I have is certain video games can creep into my reality when I have to make quick decisions. I once played a driving game at the arcade that always had the same pattern. I found the best way to start involved passing in the oncoming lane over the crest of a hill. One night after playing the game for about three hours, I passed a slow person in the same manner. Most dangerous thing I have ever done in a car and admittedly due to a brief break from reality. But it was completely unpremeditated such as jacking a car or hitting someone with a bat.
No one has convinvingly proved that media changes behavior. I think like most debates, it simply encourages your already held tendancies. Much like this digg article will for both sides of the issue. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Title should read True Crimes inspired by GTA. Those games were GTA knockoffs.
- fobbler, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Unfortunately you can't do a lot of things in the game, that you can in real life. Things like: getting aids, smoking electric cigarettes to help quit smoking, buying an organic apple for $4 and then trying to act all smart talking loudly in public places about how it costs you almost 3 cents to go and pick up your organic apple to save money on health problems and to live longer so that you can keep complaining about gas prices and watch them get higher and higher. You can't file your taxes in the game. Where is the IRS in the game? Police? pftt...try evading the IRS. I could go on, but what's the points? I'm sure every sentence I write, there's another expansion pack that won't cover the real guts of life like worrying about too much sodium and hoping Youtube remains free.
- Weezergames, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1(sarcastically) NO *****!! I thought GTA got their idea from TRUE CRIME
- acrodev, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1I blame the children.
- GhostToon, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1You and I have a very different definition of cool.
- dandonia, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1"you are completely ignoring the idea that maybe violent people are drawn to violent games"
No I am not ignoring that, some people are extremely violent, some are at the opposite side of the specturm and would never hurt a fly. In the middle somewhere is a group of people, some of which will not be heavily influenced by media but some of which will be.
I am not a violent person and I love things like UFC, Boxing, WWE, etc. After watching the WWF for a while, I wanted to become a wrestler so I found myself a training camp and off I went, got hurt, thought about it some more, decided to get an education before proceeding any further. If I (a non violent person) can be inspired by the wrestling on TV, why couldn't a non violant person be inspired by GTA?
"No one has convincingly proved that media changes behavior"
Really? Are you telling me that propaganda has never existed? Are you saying that fearmongering on the news hasn't contributed to the economic state of world today. After watching Ron Paul preech about how the economy is going down the drain and how the world will enter a massive recession, don't you think some people would have heard what he was saying and thought - "wow I better sell my house now to avoid losing money" or "wow I better not buy now because I will lose money" - By not buying houses and by selling the economy slips even further. Does that mean Ron Paul is the guy behind the recession - hell no but did he contribute to it by been a major alarmist - of course he did.
Media, influences people's actions FACT.
Do you think without watching wrestling on TV as a kid I would still have wanted to be a wrestler? I guess Jeniffer Anistons hair cuts were not copied by millions of people and this whole Size 0 phase just came out of nowhere. Media influences most people and has changed behaviour constantly. Why do you think companys like Tesco advertise their products on TV and in games? You have to go shopping for food anyway right? So why do they waste their money?
Some people will have watched 24, thought to themselves "Jack is ***** cool", they will probably be able to justify his actions on the show even though he is a criminal, who commits violent crime after violent crime. Some will be more accepting of torture than they were before the show.
To say violent media only influences violent people is just ridiculas. - inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+0GTA 4 didn't have much real crime besides murder and drug smuggling. Niko Bellic is an outstanding citizen.
- icreonerp, on 02/20/2009, -0/+0I think these kinds of games should be banned.
http://www.icreongamestudio.com - jarcaf, on 02/19/2009, -0/+0I forgot all about Grand Theft Auto when I saw that.
- dandonia, on 02/18/2009, -2/+1Have you ever watched a movie and felt inspired by it? Have you ever been compelled to laugh by a movie or cry? has a song ever motivated you? Do you or your mates get a little rowdy when watching something like wrestling/boxing/ufc? have you ever been turned on by porn?
What I am saying is, media has influence. Sure not everyone is going to cry at a sad movie and not everyone is going to sign up to boxing classes after watching Rocky but some do and some play GTA and get a buzz out of beating on strangers in the game, some take it too far and want to try it in real life. Why is that so hard for people to believe?
Is it the games fault directly - no, did it contribute to it - of course it did, so did a lot of violent movies and songs. - knowthymoney, on 02/18/2009, -1/+0Yeah..the popup window was a pain in the ass. Although the descriptions is somehow cool.
