Rainbow Six Vegas Heading to Wii?
play-nintendo.com — A slew of recent preorder listings, and some inquiries have turned up enough evidence to suggest Rainbow Six Vegas is likely in the works for Wii. Even better, it could be here by March.

- actionscripted, on 10/12/2007, -25/+4It'd be nice if developers did some creative programming instead of simply porting their FPS trash to the Wii.
"We need to be a part of this Wii-volution!"
"I've got it! We'll take the same crap that is almost cliche on most consoles and port it!"
"Brilliant!"- Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Porting? If you think the wii could actually handle a direct port of that graphically intense a game than you are in for a surprise.
- mutantmagnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Unlike the three fps that were released at launch I wouldn't actually mind getting Rainbow Six if it atleast supports coop with friends in the same room.
- mazza558, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Rainbow 6: Blurgas
- ikenefick, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8It's about gameplay too... graphic quality is just part of the formula for a great game. You can't honestly say that the Wii isn't capable of merging moderate graphical ability with immersive gameplay can you?
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I was going to leave this alone until ikenefick brought up the "it's not graphics, it's gameplay" argument for the Wii.
Now I agree the Wii is a great console, but these types of games will NOT be helped by that argument. How much enjoyment, honestly, will you get from the wiimote when playing this type of game as opposed to great graphics and good AI?
Wii is going to have to rely on new and innovative ways to use it's controller to keep on living up to the "gameplay > graphics" edge that it has right now, and it's not going to find that in recycled games from the other consoles. - lordmetroid, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Itazura, yes I belive it can handle a good amount of graphic galore. The Wii might not have the power of a PC, PS3 or XBOX360. But considering how games like Resident Evil, Zelda and so on performed on the less powerfull Game Cube. The Wii which is more powerfull than the Game Cube should logicaly be able to blit some fantastic graphics too beyond what we have seen on the Game Cube!
- mutantmagnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3coheed graphics cards aren't a requirment for good AI. Unless you can convincingly argue Broadway isn't up to the task of handling the type of instructions the 360 had to deal with that shoots down half your arguement.
- popfrogs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3See Far Cry: Vengeance to see how great this game will be on the Wii.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Cry:_Vengeance - Broccoli, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Far cry vegence was a mistake on ubisofts part. The lowerd the graphic quality to get more view distance. pur stupidity if you ask me. i seriously was going to but that game till i saw the screen shot. Im not a graphics guy but there is no excuse for a game to look that bad even on the gamecube.
- kauko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"coheed graphics cards aren't a requirment for good AI. Unless you can convincingly argue Broadway isn't up to the task of handling the type of instructions the 360 had to deal with that shoots down half your arguement."
Yes, graphics hardware doesn't handle the AI, but Wii simply cannot run as complex game engine (which includes the AI and so on) as, say, Xbox 360 or PS3.
Also, graphics *do* matter a great deal in FPS shooters. For example Far Cry on Wii is just a horrible, N64-esque stuttering muddy mess graphically and it's impossible to see what's going on. On Xbox 360, PC and PS3 you can actually *see* what is going on when playing FPS games.
When you combine all this with Nintendo's inability (or lack of interest) to offer a decent online gaming infrastructure (friend codes!) anyone but the blindest Wii fanboys should get it by now: Wii simply isn't a good FPS platform. Vegas will be simply horrible on Wii. - gamechic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love Rainbow Six Vegas. If you're gonna port to the Wii it's gonna take some amazing innovation with the wiimote to make it worth the down-graded graphics! I'd much rather just save my Wii for Wario Ware (which is even more fun on the Wii than GC!) and other multiplayer games.
And I STILL argue that playing the Wii multiplayer is not nearly as fun online as it is with people in the same room. Half the fun is watching other people (especially newbs) use the wiimote! 360 rules the online space. period.
- Gundabad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would be so excited to play this on the Wii after enjoying it on a friends 360, but I think Ubisoft has been such a letdown for Nintendo. They have put out a slew of amazing titles which I was very excited for, but all of them except Rayman (which is one of the best games out), turned out to be absolute crap. I am really glad they are supporting my current system of choice with so many could-be-excellent titles, but just step up the quality Ubisoft.
- dillonish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"You can reserve these by means of the web hops."
- mutantmagnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It would've been even better if Babelfish had to translate it from chinese...
- ajamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Ubisoft always whores out their game to every console, portable, or cell phone imaginable
- tacklebox, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1The wiitard remote will kill the game. Its not accurate enough for a game like R6. Unless they dumb down the game and make it playable by paris hilton, like the rest of the wii games. Multiplayer made the game great on xbox live. They're just trying to cash in on the hype of the new gamecube.
- birch25, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4the wiimote is very precise. have you even played a shooter on the wii? and wouldn't aiming yourself be more realistic than moving some joysticks around?
- WarezAppz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Here's a thought:
Isn't it possible that the "Isn't accurate enough" analogy you experience more-than-likely software inadequacy to align the accuracy to that of the wiimote, not the other-way around?
My guess would be yes. Let's use a little reason and think - "Hmm, well being that this is a new experience for most Software gaming developers, may hap they haven't quite mastered all of the 'variables' to make accuracy more in line to real scenario.
I'd have to say that I would think it'd be rather daunting to program all of the possibilities that would make accuracy dead-on with everyone's perception of the such.
Just food for thought. - Broccoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What i want to see is a shooter to let you choose from using a gc controller or a wiimote. That way one person could use a gc controller and the other a wiimote and see which one really is better. After playing cod3 im sure the wiimote is awsome at aiming, but i still want to see for sure.
- robbiekhan, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1UBIsoft are *****, they released a ***** PC port which runs ass slow even for 8800GTX users. I myself have a x2 dual core cpu and 7950GT 512MB and 2GB ram, I got an AVERAGE of 25fps or less outdoors on this game at 1680x1050 medium settings. WTF is this? no other gme suffers like this except SC:DA but oh wait that's by UBI too....lmao
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Let's see the use of words:
"UBIsoft", "*****", "runs ass slow", "WTF", "gme" and finally, "lmao".
Definitely someone younger than 18. If not, then he's a retard. - mutantmagnet, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Retard isn't a proper term for civilized people. We should call them R-Tards ;)
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Let's see the use of words:
- ocha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Here by march"
Makes me think "Far Cry for Wii terribly rushed."
I love that ubisoft is pumping so many games into the Wii but I'd much rather them spend quality time make them, too.
And like someone else already said if it doesnt have an online mode it fails instantly.- dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1same. i'm excited about r6vegas coming to the wii, but not that release date. ilove red steel, but it has a lot of problems because it was rushed. i have a feeling ubi will make the same mistake and that corruption will be the only really good shooter by the end of the year.
- mikefitz2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1this doesnt matter at all because i dont have a dumb wii
- Rodalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If the Wii port of Rainbow Six: Vegas is going to be anything like Splinter Cell: Double Agent, they can save themselves the trouble and count me out.
- R0CKY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The only problem with this speculation, is that Ubisoft currently list only 3 games in development for the Wii in their Release Schedule, and it is extremely rare for retail outlets to get wind of a new title before the title even gets listed in Ubisoft's Weekly Release Schedule.
- smallwang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2R6 Vegas is a must by for the 360, not sure if the transition to the Wii will work well. Graphically it will suffer, and im still not convinced the wiimote works well with an FPS yet (was not a fan of the CoD on the Wii). And no multiplayer would kill it.
- timmayk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3wii connect 24!
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Will it look as awesome as their amazing Far Cry port?
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hm - as long as they don't do a crappy port like they did on "Far Cry", it could be pretty cool. I'm not worried about multiplayer since, well, I don't do multiplayer, but it would be nice if they included it.
- biohzrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am refusing to buy one more game for my Wii until they have some ***** online multiplayer with it! Seriously, single-player was fun as hell with zelda, but not much else. Even Tennis would be extremely fun online!
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2K, so I was reading about iPhone, then took a whiz, then came back and saw this article about the Wii. That was my moment of epiphany: iWii.
Just think of it... it would do all the iPhone crap AND play RS: Vegas. Oh, the sweet, sweet symphony. Woe to the first person to chuck that puppy through his 50" plasma, tho...
Edit: CRAP! Someone beat me to it: http://www.theiwii.com/ - gh0st121der, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Not sure what you would want to put such a beautiiful looking game on this Wii.
I have a wii, and I have no doubt this game will look like *****. - xqb4dpx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://digg.com/gaming_news/Rainbow_Six_Vegas_for_the_Wii
- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there is much much more to this story than just the fact bart smit has it on their site.......
- xqb4dpx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well its a nice clue ... i found bartsmit a while ago and it never got enough diggs lol
- TheBEAST205, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This game really isn't worth getting w/o online. Sorry to disappoint the people looking forward to it, but the multiplayer kicks the single player's ass in Rainbow Six: Vegas. The whole synopsis of the game is: shoot some terrorist, rappel/fast rope down something, kill more terrorist, rescue hostage/disarm bomb.
- riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a shame Rainbow series died with Raven Shield (legend). I won't say 'Vegas' is crap. But I won't call it a 'Tactical Shooter' either. Now it's more of an arcade shooter just like Ghost Recon ended up being.
UBI and others should really stop ***** with PC games... or maybe PC gamers should just stop buying these games for a change? Oh yeah, my bad, that 1600$ card needs to make something look good afterall, screw gameplay. - walter909, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the graphics for this game are solid but there not all that ...the gameplay is freaken radical..you guys have it backword
- dugbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the wiimote beats any console controller for fps hands down. having your arm do the movement is MUCH more precise then having your thumb.
- wisebob134, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hopefully when they dull down the graphics it won't be Farcry Vengeance bad
- PuPWoWServer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sounds pretty good. It involve more skill tho. The game would be harder too.
Read more at www.ghforum.net - hellatot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK 4 things now
