- patricks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Um, they are customizable.
- cmiller1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15This kind of engine would be fantastic for making a cross-platform MMO game.
- Kamino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That reply is worthless without links -_-
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14That's odd. I got it to run on my os x system at work...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Bravo for the effort, this is really cool.
Its still a shame theres no shockwave support (this file is shockwave format, correct?) for linux. - Stiffler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I believe it was these guys who did that:
http://www.rasterwerks.com/
They don't have a link to the Quake 3 shockwave that they did, but you can see how their current project is inspired by that. - pseudo.hero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7wow, I can't wait to be able to play it in class!
- timf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If there really is, could you please tell us where to download it?
- zeeneo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4they wont finish it. look at their web site, they have done loads of games and not released any. impressive though but a finished one would be wicked. loaded fast too!
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Awesome stuff. Just running around makes me well-up.
- spect3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Has anyone got a link to : "Half-Life, Quake 1, Doom"?"
Navigating is good:
http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/half-life.html - tingle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This needs the shockwave player to work. The link for the shockwave player is broken on macromedia's site.
I managed to find the typo and here it is for the windows version:
http://download.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/10.1.1.016/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe - Rummey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Very nice work! Now you just need to program in some AI for bots, networking for multi players and weapons :-)
Mike - linuxpunk81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I could play it and I'm on Mac
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No shadows. :)
- unimatrixZxero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Played it on OS X.4.6 No probs. This is very interesting. I guess that could be a new idea for World of Warcraft version 2.0 :)
- pype, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Impressive!
- olego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's Quake 3 all right - I got dizzy about 30 seconds of playing it, just like the real thing!
- ceralor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's called going to the root domain.
- zyrotec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I had no problem on a iMac G5
- benwaterworth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that is amazing.
easily the most impressive thing i've seen done with shockwave (or flash)
it was so quick and ran perfectly (in safari!) - radu79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't work with Opera 9 (WindowsXP).
I've downloaded and installed the plug in, restarted the browser, then the progress bar started to move, then I got various errors about not supported compression and stuff. - adidax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2oh *****, there goes my workday.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Couldn't get out of the game. Thank goodness for the ESC key. The visuals in this look stunning. Very well put together for a web browser.
- jwa131, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks great, I'd kinda like to see some action. I couldn't even get high enough to get the fricken shotgun
- MrGeneric, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Is letting it control your cursor such a good idea?
- kevnaca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very nice, if they finish making it that is. This would be great if you're on a public computer waiting for something or just bored at school.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Why did eurleif get modded into oblivion? He is right, Macromedia Shockwave _doesn't_ work on all the major platforms (like Linux), which means that the parent's post was incorrect. This would _not_ be a good cross-platform delivery mechanism.
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, very nice job. It took me a while to get it to work. Originally I was on Firefox, and I went to the page and it told me to install a Shockwave update, and I hit install, but Firefox crashed, tried again, and the shockwave wouldn't even load. Then I tried it on Opera then IE, I got to the point where I could enter my name in, and it wouldn't work. Then I opened it up in Firefox and it worked. Oh yeah, did I mention this was on Windows? :)
Can't wait to see this in action. I can see a gun, but can't figure out how to get there. Jump (right-click) doesn't go high enough, there's gotta be some way. - Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Meh. This is just a Quake 3 map loader in Shockwave, and not a very good one at that. I've seen better.
This one has a lot of problems. Lighting is all messed up. Is he ignoring the lightmaps, perhaps? Also, animated texture support is broken. And his movement physics are pretty horrible.
I remember years ago seeing another Quake 3 in shockwave type thing, except IT got the lighting right. This is pretty bad, considering better stuff was available years ago. - shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It looks like this person has a bad case of awsome programing but large ADD i mean it seems like everythign is in demo mode. It would be nice if someone more consistante just worked on his stuff after he grew tired of it.
- cubikdice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah very nice! I play Quake 3 Arena everyday and this is pretty good looking. Just need the lighting and those guys ;)
- ZennZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not to marginalize this effort, but someone did this *very* thing a few years back (2002 iirc) and it made the rounds on the internet before being shut down by ID. They had a single level working and it looked pretty accurate to the original. I believe they even used Shockwave. You couldn't play against others, but for the time it was very impressive.
Since then, of course, ID opened the Q3 engine and it is no longer really a financially viable product, so perhaps they won't be interesting in killing this one. - shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1O ***** there goes the gameplay value on all of these games....
- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's very impressive (another Safari user here, on a G5 Power Mac.) I had no idea this could be done.
- cozmoz365, on 09/19/2008, -0/+1Here you go:

- nvidiafx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yea
- geoffrey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Who'd of thought that today we play FPS games in our browser, when years ago we were buying new graphic cards to support the rendering and fps. Digg.
- alinush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well done!
- bunnygirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the latest update rocks!!!
- energyblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Has anyone got a link to : "Half-Life, Quake 1, Doom"?
- wout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1amazing
- mockworld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Phosphor beta is still the best FPS ever made for the browser:
http://www.rasterwerks.com/game/phosphor/beta1.asp - republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2that is freakin' awesome! I disn't even know a game could look that good. Also be sure to check out mortal combat. http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/MortalKombat.html
- tuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1won't work with linux. any work arounds?
using firefox. - zootm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"He is right, Macromedia Shockwave _doesn't_ work on all the major platforms (like Linux), which means that the parent's post was incorrect."
I believe he got modded-down because he was wrong on a technicality -- Shockwave is not Windows-only, it's Windows- and Mac-only.
"You are technically correct, the best kind of correct!" -
