- Ender008, on 10/12/2007, -5/+38Please never talk again. And if you do, please learn grammar.
I can't tell you how mad seeing people type like that makes me. Would it kill you to actually spell? - stuckpig, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32If you are playing any other war game you are doing yourself a disservice.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21But in BF2142 you get the following:
-Random crashes to desktop when loading a map
-Random crashes to desktop when dropping a squad leader beacon
-People exploiting drop pods to travel half the map in something that is supposed to come straight down
-People exploiting drop pods to get to unreachable places to kill from
-Randomly being assigned a different kit when being revived (you can't imagine how aggravating this one is)
-Constantly having to reselect the class you want to spawn as because it switches to support as soon as your timer to respawn is over.
-Periodically having the game not recognize your current rank (and thus not allow you to use unlocked items)
-Periodically have the game not let you rank up (to get another unlock)
-etc.
These are just the technical bugs, don't get me started on the stupid design of the game. - RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20To be honest, I hate BF2. But this mod gives me a new reason to keep it on my PC. The PR 0.5 team also deserves credit for working with a game that is difficult to mod...
- SickFinga, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I'll definitly try it, but I think there going to be the same problem with it as with other mods, not enough people playing. I played Point of Existence 2, and Front Line mode of the mod was simply amazing, but the problem with it was that no one was playing it.

- Dundasbro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Holy ***** that was painful to read, you are joking in that you wrote that right??? RIGHT??? :'(
- kevptim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Project Reality is the only reason I still have BF2 installed. It's hella cool.
- eggman51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Hey Gents,
This is eggman one of the leads from Project Reality. Thanks for all the diggs lol. The most recent release has some highly experimental stuff in it. And we like it that way hehe. We'll be releasing a server side only update to address some early issues identified with the v0.5 release. Should be done shortly (we're just verifying how much we can change server side only without needing a client side patch).
We're also gonna get cracking on v0.6. That next major release won't add a ton of new stuff, but will primarily focus on polishing up issues from v0.5 and adding in a couple of new game play elements. Some of the stuff we are trying to make work has never been done in an online tactical fps that I am aware of. So it might be a lil glitchy :D
But modding .. without the commercial constraints of budgets and marketing departments .. is a great opportunity for ***** like me to learn about game design and production. So we're not gonna waste that simply changing the colors and shapes of the weapons and armies... we're gonna continue to push the envelope on not only what the BF2 engine can do, but on what can be done in a "teamwork and realism oriented combined arms tactical multiplayer shooter".
It's fun. And free :) - orbitalpunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15BF2 is the best game. 2142 is terrible.
- ryodoan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@xtmno3
EA made it, what did you expect? I cant remember the last time they released a game that didn't need at least two patches to bring it up to where it should have been at release. - SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11EA's equivalent to Steam: http://www.ea.com/ealink/
- pcgeek101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I hate BF2 because it's buggy as hell. In fact, that's exactly why I refused to purchase 2142. BF2 is still okay though ... once I finally get the patches to install properly ... ugh.
"Patching failed" anyone? - Amything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Thanks for info, but it seems they only have expansions packs for sale and not BF2 itself.
BF2: Armored Fury ($9.99)
BF2: Euro Force ($9.99)
BF2: Special Forces ($29.99)
I think these all require BF2 to run. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11If they were even aiming for 0.5 x reality they fell a long way short.
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You know, if you read the first line of his comment in an Ali G voice, it almost makes sense.
- kevptim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Watch the streaming promo video on this page. It shows off the new features of the mod and it's also a product of excellent editing.

Maps you absolutely must try are Al Basrah (US vs Insurgents) and Helmand Province (Brits vs Insurgents with experimental fully destructible buildings). - cJw314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"EA made it, what did you expect? That's not just EA, that's the entire industry. - bobbilljoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Nah TC:E is not even close to being a realistic/tactical fullscale war simulating FPS. TC:E is simply a old school FPS with realistic tactical weapons/maps/materials but in the end you're still running around a cramped map camping certain corners/stairs having it come down to pure reaction time...
Project Reality gives you so many options / possibilities in its different maps that TC:E is pathetically simplistic in comparison.
Project Reality babY! :p
Oh and America's Army is also hardly comparable... PR has completely up'd them on the realism/imersion factor! - wasteland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I started playing PR about 8 months ago. I've always been a pretty hardcore gamer, and usually played a lot of different games at once. But I can honestly say that I have not played a single other game since I found PR. There's a bit of a learning curve, and right now with the new release a lot of people are learning. Check out projectreality.com for the player guide before you start playing. If you give it an honest shot and find a good squad (not that hard to find... just make sure you follow orders), you won't ever look back.
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I am going to try this. It sounds like a great concept. I hope it plays well, because sometimes "great concepts" don't translate well into great gaming experiences.
- haackers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Im going to try this mod, but im addicted to Special Forces Mod
- comradeTJH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4> PS

Absolutely true! - SpecialIssue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This BF2 realism mod is absolutely fantastic. Getting PR 0.5 will get you: new armies, new weapons, new sounds, new graphics, and now experimental destructible environments. Anyone that has enjoyed Delta Force, Rainbow Six, or America's Army should look at this mod, I find it more realistic than I ever dreamed any of those could become. Project Reality has basically everything EA can't seem to give the BF2 community. The release of PR 0.5 has upgraded the level of teamwork even more then previous releases. Squads are now a more then just a random group of players waiting to be ripped apart by the more "superior" BF2 elements, like in Vanilla BF2, they are now a truly formidable force. A properly equipped and coordinated six man squad using intelligent tactics can be the most deadly element in the game, and now they have even more power and flexibility in PR 0.5. If you have the means I highly recommend checking it out!
- PvtJenkins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I said that when BF2 came out. Too bad some patches actually BROKE the game even MORE. Any game that needs patches to fix previous patches is a poorly made piece of garbage. That said, I want to play this mod really badly..
- StickWST, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah I got this awhile ago, It's frustrating at first, being killed if you are shot at all. But you appreciate it. Like when you get "critically wounded" you dnt just get stuck on the ground, yu slow down extremely, and your vision distorts acid trip style, while coughing up a storm.
There are also no reticuled, just iron sights. - kevptim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There are actually quite a few people playing this release. Online players have broken 1000 last week and have not dipped below 600. Far more players than POE2 has at the moment. PR is also gaining players every day. You wont have a problem finding a local server if you are in NA, Brazil, Europe or Austrailia.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The problem with mods is that, while some of them are awesome, and Project Reality certainly is!, People are sheep, and there are very few people installing and playing mods, so there is a lack of servers/players. And if there are no people, there is no fun.
- Pilot85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3holy crap, that was hot. dl'ing right the hell now.
- bobbilljoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oooh yeah! Project Reality! BF2 how it's meant to be played...
- wasteland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3AA's not bad. But PR is much better in terms of scale and tactical possibilities. AA's multiple waypoint system is nice though.
- dizzy113, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Same here! #1 mod for BF2!!!!
- endgame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If your even the slightest fan of Operation Flashpoint & tactical squad combat you owe it to yourself to give this Mod a try. It is simply amazing the stuff that they have added to this game to make it FAR better than BF2 vanilla ever was or ever could be in the hands of EA/Dice. Some of the cool features this mod has besides the realism aspect.
1. Bleed out....You get hit damn you better get to a medic quick before you die. If you dont get there fast enough your entire screen starts to get blurry & the world around starts to slow down.
2. Stand to close to a tank while it fires it's main gun & your screen shakes from the pure thunderous roar of the cannon.
3. 2-3 hit's & your dead end of story Not like BF2 where you empty half a clip into someone
4. Destructible environments
5. New weapons - seether166, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The "block" feature assures me I never WILL see him talk again. Although, let's be honest, construing what he just did as "talking" really lessens the achievement known as "communication"
- TheWorkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was at best buy on saturday, and BF2 was only 19.99 now.. good deal...
- entertainer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2RO is still way better. :p
- cJw314, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I have to disagree.
I enjoy 2142 a lot, even with the bugs... once patches come out we'll be good.
To each his own. : ) - GeneralAntilles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Red Orchestra was where it was at for realism and FPSs. It's too bad they moved to Steam and dropped support for Linux and Mac.
- TheWorkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I started playing on .4 release, and there were only just a few servers online. As soon as .5 came out this last week, there were almost 100 servers over the weekend, which has prompted me to almost launch my own since this scene is growing.
The great thing about this mod is that normally I play BF2 as a run'n'gunner like most do and just try to get as many kills and run as fast as I can to do so.. With this, it forces you to play as a team, hide in tall grass at times, and is a lot more realistic.. PLUS it has blood, something the original bf2 was definately lacking. :) - jasonjdp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To practice flying, host a local server, and then type "sv.numplayersneedtostart 1" in the console so the game will start and you can request a pilot kit. the aircraft are a bit different to fly, and its pretty annoying having your pilot learn on your time....
- kevptim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually don't. Check out www.realitymod.com instead. :)
There is a Wiki link on the top frame that leads to the player's guide. - DrScott, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3True Combat: Elite, a mod for the free multiplayer platform of Castle Wolfenstein runs in the same vein. May be worth checking out, although it's still in an early version, and there are only a few populated servers, the new physic are top notch.

ALL the same bugs/issues that BF2 still has, which is why I've never bought 2142. I won't pay twice for the same content. - seether166, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You're right, you can't buy the actual game there, so far as I know.
- CapnCarnage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22. Stand to close to a tank while it fires it's main gun & your screen shakes from the pure thunderous roar of the cannon.
BF2 vanllia has that - bobbilljoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looking forward to the updates! Keep up the good work PR dev team!
- mrspurs16, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1A reply to your comment exactly one year later... And it still hasn't been updated once = [
Although, True Combat: Elite is freaking awesome!! - gardnert1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its like Christmas came late!
- Pigeon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What's scary is that most of the UKs youth population speaks like that.
- entertainer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>Wasteland
Most of PRMM players are BF2 players so they are playing it like BF2(dolphin diving, prone spamming, bunny hooping etc.).
I'm a RO player, so it looks very arcade to me. -
