- bignobody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hi, I'm the creator of Shlongg so I figured I'd give a little background on the name. When trying to decide on a name I didn't want to have to pay a lawyer to do a name search, so I thought "pick something no-one in their right mind would use".
Shlongg ends up working on a few different levels - First and most obvious is the dick joke, but the idea goes a little farther than what you see on the surface: I've been amused how a word can have different meanings across cultures. For example, I work with a guy named "Hani". I found out from a Chinese friend of mine that this means "I hate you" in Chinese. So the real joke is that the evil aliens here to wipe out humanity in the game are called "The Shlongg Dominion" which they view as a fearsome name, but we humans can get a little giggle out of it.
I said it works on a few levels, so here's a few others. The first two letters are my initials, and it rhymes with "pong" (it's 3D Arkanoid with some twists, so in a way it's just glorified pong).
