In other news:
RUMOR, Nintendo Revolution to be named Nintendo Go and priced at 150$ - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Or, you know, I could just go home and play my copy of New Super Mario Bros.
- ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20My EYES!! Ze goggles do nothing!
- TDot1980, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17@ odiwan...
DON'T COPY THAT FLOPPY!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hVkT6U11a-0 - AnteChronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Addicting is a transitive verb which requires a direct object. Usage: "The psychological effects are addicting me to heroine."
Addictive is an adjective. Usage: "This game is addictive."
I'll leave it to you to determine if the correct version was used in the description. - unre4l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Hmm I still prefer to stick to the 2D version over this attempt:
http://slicedoranges.com/uploads/mario25d.jpg
I mean nice try but Mario could get seriously injured from those sharp edges. - straxus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Odiwan:
This is a great example of the failure of current copyright law. 20+ year old material should in no way still be protected. Perpetual copyright is bad copyright, and not only fails to enrich our knowledge and culture, but hinders the growth of both. Copyright as it was originally envisioned and implemented was very limited, and served to give content owners a temporary monopoly over their works. - jmp478, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It's too hard to play. the controls are unresponsive and it's really buggy.
- DieCena69, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It's safe to download.
I'm playing it and i'm loving it. - Mike.Dunn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Its OK. Controls really are clunky as hell
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8ADDICTIVE, Abercrombie generation!
ADDICTIVE! - Intrepion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Aside from the graphics & sound effects, this game is nothing like the original...
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"ENGLISH POWAAA!!!"
- shadowsurfr1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Not to mention level 1-1 isn't even the same level. Buried.
- harr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"I'm not sure that I want to download anything from a site that I never heard of."
This game was made with a program called Game Maker (gamemaker.nl). My suspicions were raised by the icon (the default GM icon) and confirmed by the screen you get when you press F1.
GM games are usually pretty safe because of the way the program is made. And based from what I can see the programmer is unlikely to be good enough to create anything damaging with it. The executable is the only file in the zip file. I'd say it's almost certainly safe. - cogsprocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The dynamics of this game are completely out of whack. It's a far cry from playing the original SMB in 3D.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The game physics are way off if not downright nauseating. Plus, this ISNT the original SMB. Inaccurate title.
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That sucked all kinds of ass.
the level wasn't the same
little mario was breaking bricks
goomba could walk right through the smashed turtle
physics were crazy
hitting the flag at the end of the level didn't stop the clock
I guess I can give the dev some credit for as far as he got, but why not at least make the level true to form - jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/fsupermario.html
- msikma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does anyone remember that Super Mario Bros level made for Quake? Speed demos were made for it, and the completion time was really close to the world record for SMB1. I can't check right now since I'm at work, but I think you can download the map (and demos) here: http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/mkt.pl?level:wrld11
- Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It gets a 2 minutes "neat" factor, but that is about it. Nothing like the original.
Too many bugs.
Blah.
Burred as inaccurate. - shep72685, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hasn't this been dugg before?
- CaptainAm3rica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As a programmer, I know how long it would take to make something like this. In that respect, its pretty cool. But looking at it from the standpoint of a videogamer, it sucks. Not much detail was paid attention to from the original game, and I personally find it annoying when I die from jumping on a bad guy's head.
- Jyaif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I should copyright a 1x1 black sprite and make billions!!!!
But I am too lazy. - oldman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's just like the origional... only different!
- Roflworthy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Run into goombas and koopas a few times. Watch your life counter.
- Insimbi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't screw up Super Mario Bros with 3D again - everyone knows the 2D original owns all.
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's my site.... I wouldn't submit a virus and get my site banned from digg, guys. Haha
- Siriquelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Brilliant
- ebob9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I believe this was made in GameMaker per this thread: http://forums.gamemaker.nl/lofiversion/index.php/t76560.html
Here's some control information:
up,right,left arrow keys: Jump, move
w,a,s,d keys: Move camera angle
r,f keys: camera zoom
Left shift: give 99 coins
space bar: Reset time to 102 seconds
enter key: Advance to next level
It's fun for the effort someone put into this. - slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes but everything else on digg is a resubmission, and this is old, so I went ahead and did it again.
- TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://truepatriot565656.googlepages.com/SuperMarioBros2.5d.zip
mirror =)
game is so-so but has promise - dsthunder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does not run in vista 6000... :(
- cornerback42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Keep pressing Enter you'll beat it in no time
- tj9991, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or Wine on Linux... :(
- pentomino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would dig this if it were at least a version with better controls than the 214-day-old version.
Since it's not, and the old version was so horrible, I'm burying it as "OK this is lame." - ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I should copyright a 1x1 black sprite and make billions!!!!"
Too late, I hold copy right to dead pixels as my logo. Pay up bitches. - Scotepi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1doesnt work in wine or crossover office :(
- noahs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
- ifoundgodot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Um...even if it WAS the original SMB...the only added functionality he added was being able to move the camera, which in NO way actually changes the game dynamics. Then in exchange for this "functionality," you get poor physics, bugs, and crappy level design.
I'm generally a bad digg user and don't actually digg and bury, but I don't want anyone to have to play this. Buried as lame. - speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I guess that signature is web 4.0?
- LoganKriete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting concept but IMHO it was executed poorly. The level designs were not even the same as the first, therefore this is not "the original Super Mario Bros." in 3D. More frustratingly, the second level had about 10 warp pipes with plants coming out at exactly the same time all in a row - how the hell am I supposed to beat that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1no more supermario bros on digg im sick of it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stop stop help
- Annt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0simply.....that sucked!
- Andy460, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I'll just play New Super Mario Bros. (DS) instead.
- JoyrexJ9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2super duper, mega dupe; sure this has been on digg at least twice
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+15That's cool, but I'm not sure that I want to download anything from a site that I never heard of. The pics look nice though.
- billwands, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This game sucks, the music, the visuals and the horrible controls. Whats wrong with the original or the 50 other mario titles. We dont need this, and we certainly dont need it on the frontpage!
- davidarcila, on 01/10/2009, -4/+3mmm...those HUGE buttons are web 3.0?

What is Digg?
