- chrishill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3how about a full screen version? ;)
plays a little slow on my machine though
http://katamaridamacy.jp/qa_data/katamari.swf - simpletech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This game rocks, I found a way of playing it on the PSP as well, all I had do was save the game using a website extractor and then put the file on my psp and open it up with the psp browser and it works! great game!
- anthony1124, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Reported as lame, with the above poster.
Katamari is rad, it has no place on digg though."
You're lame. Pfff.t Katamari has no place on Digg? WTF? - anthony1124, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this game would be much easier on pc w/ keyboard and mouse instead of the two analog nubs on the ps2 controller.
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wish it was bigger
- Zukunft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Not being able to read japanese...how do you get things to stick?"
You first have you go over the smaller items. Then afer a while of picking those up you can switch to what looks like rocks and people. After a while with them you can then start picking up cars. Just don't roll over the dude's head. - chromo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yayyyyyyy, go katamari go!
- Unknown1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When does it end?
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sorry that game made no sense to me
- ZephyrSamba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not sure how this looks/plays to someone who's actually been able to play the 'real' version of KD, but as someone who's not yet been able to do so (but has wanted to for a long time!) I thought this was quite good fun =) Thanks for posting.
+ Digg! - Wilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't like this. As a person without consoles or the money to puchase consoles however, an actual PC port of Katamari would be awesome :D
- Jedipottsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok, my thing takes up all the screen. Wheres the end? or do u mean the pic is the ending
- warhammerelf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just been letting it run for the last hour. It eventually gets large enough to where it takes up the entire 'screen'. Complete waste of time, but worth a digg.
- dvdcr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1how do u play this?
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh, I never played Katamri. Pretty neat.
- Tullamore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is this crap.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The object is to move your King Head around the screen so that your Katamari follows it, picking up small objects along the way. The larger your Katamari gets, the bigger the objects it can pick up. Once the ball reaches a certain size, it's possible to get the King Head stuck in it, at which point you loose control. At critical mass, the ball will begin to slowly reveal an image behind the scene.
It's kind of... pointless, and less fun than actual Katamari Damacy. - Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Japanese reads as follows:
"How to play:
Move the king with your mouse to steer the katamari.
Click the mouse button at any time to destroy the katamari."
It would be better if there was some sort of more definite ending than just seeing the background. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0never ends... and takes 100% cpu... kinda sux...
- yaos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never really understood the appeal of the game. I played it once and was bored *****. Oh well
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NOOO!!! I had a giant katamari and I clicked and everything fell off! WTF? =(
- xcvmvcx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome game!
digg++ - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So... What's the end? After a while, the king you're controlling gets stuck, then the dude goes ***** loco and you lose all control. But if you get big enough, it'll pick up the ground to reveal a picture, then he just roams around all crazy picking up cars and such... Does it ever *really* end, or does he just continue to pick up cars and ***** forever?
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ah man i cant wait until it comes on psp
- Legionnaire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is awesome. anybody saying "this is *****" or something to that extent is really not feeling the vibe in which it was intended. I found it to be alot of fun.
- Moocat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, nm I got it, the ball follows the head. Hehe, the head can get caught up when your ball gets big too :)
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was somewhat amusing, and not because it was a good version of Katamari.
I recently bought We - okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, psp katamari will be sweet... hopefully it wont require any firmware > 1.5
- Salmonax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool. Katamari rocks!
- DJgreenLava, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought this would have online multiplayer. The game is pretty decent though but I think Team Katamari could have gotten the "Katamari On the Rocks" in a quality better than that of my cell phone.
- TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Meh, I got the painting. Pretty lame. Kinda interecting with 6 katamaris.
- galfridus73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All of you thinking this isn't a "real" Katamari game... it looks like it is. This is being hosted on Namco's Japanese site for Katamari. It's "Katamari Damacy 2" because "We Love Katamari" isn't. ;)
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Way too easy, but kinda fun too.
- DS513, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry to be a n00b, but WTF? How do u play? What is the object? I can't read Japanese.
- yoblin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Umm I don't get it... am I the only one who thinks this is lame? it took about 20 seconds before the picture was revealed...
- DesolataX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Smog" in japanese terms means marijuana clouds, which is why they are so wierd
- chrishill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is not Katamari Damacy 2. Misleading headline. Reported."
tell that to namco, its what they're calling it.
to whoever it was that said this doesnt belong on digg... theres a 'gaming' category, this is a game and while its not the best flash game ever, for people who enjoied the ps2 versions of the game it's a kinda nice thing.
also theres alot of back story to the dude who came up with the idea, Keita Takahashi. after the sucess of karamari damacy in japan namco wanted a sequel, Takahashi didnt. Namco went ahead and started to develop one without him and it was such a shambles (basically they added a christmas theme to all the levels and that was that, from what i read) Takahashi got back on board to save the project and 'we love katamari' was the result.
IMO katamari damacy is the most original game since lemmings, and we all know what that did for the gaming world. in a few years Takahashi is going to be held in the same reguard as Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima, gods of gaming pushing the envelope.
thanks for all the diggs guys, my first front pager! - akokskis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, this is pretty much the most amazing thing I've seen online in quite a while. :)
- Zipp425, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So, this thing never ends.... dumb
- rcube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too weird....but strangely fun.
- afbase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok i've gotten to the point where i see the 3 year old's dwraing of the king. So now what? did i beat the game?
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what the crap is this *****?
- Stwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sucks balls! Katamari was awesome on PS@.. this is a joke.. why not just give us a PC version?
- demonthises, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Has anyone else tried the 48 play yet? Things kinda get pretty wild with so many of those little guys running around.
- Nymo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This 'Crap' And '*****' Is A Spin Off Of One Of The Highly Acclaimed Games Last Year..
It's Not Quite True To The Original Gameplay, But Still Fun.. Even More Fun To See Katamari In A 8-Bit Style.. It Even Has The Good Old Katamari Lag-Time!
It's More Of A Toy Than A Mini Game, Not Much Like The Original, But Still Fun! - SelfAppointedMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Trust me most of us know that this "crap" and "*****" is a spinoff of "one of the highly acclaimed games last year"......but I myself happen to think that that "highly acclaimed game" was a piece of gaming poo!
- inotocracy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool beans, the ending is a painting. :P
- gweedoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please be aware that the "real" game plays nothing like this. The concept is somewhat the same (you roll around a ball to pick up things, getting bigger and bigger), but the environment in the real game is 3d and your perspective is from behind the ball pretty much. Not some head thing.
If you like this little flash thing even slightly, you should give the real katamari games a try. They are VERY unique, funny, have great music, and VERY fun to play for all ages. - breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"wish it was bigger"
That's what she said. (I had to do it) - samdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@gweedoz
VERY unique is an oxymoron.
Fun little distraction for a few minutes, though. -
