- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -12/+93$1,200 for a PS3?
did Sony have a price drop? (yeah I went there) - geneshifter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Don't buy these for goodness sakes. Wait until launch day when people put an actual picture of their system in hand and have proof. Perordering does not guarantee one on the launch day necessarily.
- zirtbow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Whats that saying... 'A fool and their money are soon parted' .. ?
Well this would be proof that. - Dochtuir, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23It's not a games console, it's some sort of all in one magical device according to sony.
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17This is just the preorder, it's another $600 on top of that for the system. And I thought the Wiis going for $700-$1,000 were bad.
Also: preorders DO NOT GUARANTEE you'll get a system at Gamestop or EBGames any time this year. It just guarantees that you'll eventually get one. - HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16If someone is willing to shell out that much money for one then why not?
I would "love" to see thousands of people who purchased multiple pre-orders getting stuck with them but I know that will not happen... unless...
Unless Sony lied and secretly has a million to sell on release day! Now, wouldn't that be funny? - NICU, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Does buying a preorder guarantee you a PS3/Wii on the launch date? I've heard stories of people preordering Xbox 360's and not getting them until months later. Can anyone verify this for me?
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Seriously, buying a system for double the price during launch is beyond stupid. It's only going to decrease in value. In 5 year's time these things will be $200, is it really going to worth it to say you paid $1,000 for the preorder + $600 for the console just to get it a little bit earlier than your neighbor?
- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I never understood the craze of buying something on the day it will be released. Or even pre-ordering - demand is only higher than supply for a short while then things change. Especially with electronics/computers when things come out first they always have problems, better wait for the 2nd phase to get something rather than get it first and wait for a fix to come out (you might even get it at a cheaper price if you wait)
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@Alex,
You think the PS3 is going to be 1/3 the price in a year? *****. Is the PSP $80 now? Is the DS Lite $50? Is the 360 $130? No, because consoles don't drop in price that quickly. - DrBokgi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13They're actually not selling on eBay at all - eBay made a very strict policy against selling next gen consoles after the XBox 360 problem and all next gen auctions are pulled until the console is actually released.
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Dude, someone on Ebay bought the BOX of a 360 for $500. Buyers on Ebay do not represent the buying habits of the general populace. You might sell 50 of these things for $1000 to morons who don't read but that's not the same as Sony thinking it can sell 100 million of these things at $600.
- giociampa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14No... the morons are the ones who are so desperate to get one, they'll risk paying way over the odds for one without even a guarantee they'll get anything for their money...
- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13a movie is a different thing. a movie if you see it first u can spoil it for the rest or you want to watch it before all the reviews come out. but for game consoles, pc's, graphics cards, mobile phones etc.. whether u get them today or in a week it wont make a difference.
- MattJF317, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Most of the time it doesn't. I think a few days ago eBay made these illegal though. Well, maybe not illegal, but not allowed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7eBay will shut all of these down, marked as innacurate
- rmany2k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I got my PS2 at launch, and it is indeed near dead. I've had tons of problems with disk read errors. I actually had to do the fix a couple of years ago and now it's started it again.
That's not to say that Sony hasn't learned from that, but we'll just have to wait and see. - Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -3/+93rd, forget the price, why would anyone want a launch PS3? Most launch PS2's I know of that my friends have had have long since died. Mine is still going strong, but I got it a year after it had been released.
- Thundercat1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Just an update here folks, ALL PS3 pre-order ebay auctions have been cancelled, and the accounts suspended.
Even though it is not stated ANYWHERE in the ebay auction rules yet, ebay has recently made it against the rules to sell pre-orders of next-gen game consoles. There won't be any legitimate auctions until release day Nov 17th. - ChildeRoland420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Read your receipt. You are NOT guaranteed to receive one on launch.
- HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Let me see if I understand this...
A "pre-order" auction is just an auction for a "place in the line" to buy a PS3?
This is akin to bidding on a lottery ticket with no guarantee of it being a winning ticket?
I thought they were selling PS3s that were "pre-ordered" but had not arrived yet??? - darkinferno9908, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@NICU
No. Pre-ordering does NOT guarantee you getting the system release date at all. It means that you'll have a better chance at getting on than people whom just walk into the store but it's still not guaranteed. - bearda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@szembek
Because the eBay search page that's linked to in the blog shows ONE completed auction for the preorder, the rest have been removed. Makes for a much better headline if you hide your BS under another layer of redirection.
Buried as Inaccurate. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12"Gee, Sony won't be able to sell then at $600"
Words of morons of digg past. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9the magic is that it makes a retards money fly out of his pocket into the cash register at Gamestop and reminds him that Sony owns his retard brain.
- szembek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is what I heard too. This article is completely inaccurate. And why not just link to an ebay search results page instead of that stupid blog?
- SweetsGreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4People are so stupid.
- camdend, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Ebay's Policy is that you must have the item available within 30 days of the END OF THE AUCTION, not the start. Well I tried selling my Wii pre-order and got my account suspended. Once I got it reinstated I got the following email from customer support:
"Due to the high demand and limited supply of Nintendo Wii products we
are taking stronger measures to protect both buyers and sellers in the
eBay community. This means that sellers who list these products on eBay
must have physical possession of the products at time of listing.
Violation of these guidelines may cause your account to be indefinitely
suspended.
When listing your item there are a few steps you can take to better
protect yourself as well as other members of the eBay community. Please
include an actual photograph of your merchandise. Your User ID should
clearly be displayed in the image. You may also what to include a
photograph of your actual store receipt; just be sure to block out any
personal information such as credit card numbers. If you have purchased
more than one of these items please include a photograph of all of them
together.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Hensley
eBay Customer Support"
I would imagine this policy goes for Playstation 3 pre-orders as well. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+71. Log in to Digg.

4. Idiot - underwearman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4id just get one atm to sell on ebay to make some profit and pay of some credit cards and or get me a 360. id prob get one later one, at least a year from now. i really want a 360, but still have tons of games to play on current gens.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3im sorry, but not worth it, or the system.
im actually going to get a wii and xbox for less price. - matariel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5A fool and his money are soon parted.
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Wtf, who's actually digging this? Not only is it last week's news, we all know eBay's pulling the plug everywhere already and it's been like this since day 1 of the pre-orders.
This simply CANNOT be news to anyone who knows how to digg. Seriously, I know this sounds negative and I'm gonna get buried, but come on... - bloodylip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In case you haven't realized, eBay put into effect a rule saying you can't auction something that you won't have for 30 days. Seeing as this story was submitted on 10/17, and the PS3 comes out on 11/17, the auctions are now obeying the eBay rules. Wii pre-order sales will be allowed to start tomorrow.
Either way, anyone who buys a console for that much is an r-tard. - gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2~Call Jake if you have any questions: 617 510 1878
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thank you everyone that was CableMan67, he'll be here all week.
- Destinatus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@555: its from south park
@postal: you cant have question marks and then explain what the step is
had to clear things up around here - skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2introduce me to some criminals, alexapetrei.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4no one is saying they'll sell 100 million at $600. they'll probably sell about 15-20 million at that price and then start lowering it.
- rejectpenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I spoke with the gamestop employee when I preorderd my wii, he told me that when they recieve there first console shipment, those items will be on HOLD for the pre order people but if they get short shipped then there is no gaurantee you will have your console.
The point being, you WILL recieve your console before the general public if you preorder. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can serially say that I did not see this coming
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bloodylip - it's not 30 days until the seller gets the item, it's 30 days until the buyer gets the item. The seller would basically have to offer hand delivery on the day of release if they have it listed tomorrow. Since there are 31 days in October, it won't be released for more than 30 days still, so all auctions violate the rules.
- Sunnyjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ROFLOL, I woudn't pay that much just for a preorder in my life.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good luck to the buyer getting from Spain to Connecticuit, USA to pick it up on release day!

- CableMan67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anybody wanna' buy a preorder for Windows Vista for $1,000?
Going once, twice....%#$$ - skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm getting my wii on launch day for the regular price.
- Ghiren, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Still only $1200? I expected that it would cost 2-3 times that much by now. Of course, once demand starts to pick up and the real launch date nears, those prices will go even higher. So far, I only know one person with a TV powerful enough to take full advantage of a PS3, and even then it's questionable whether or not it's a worthwhile purchase even at it's original $500-600 price tag.
My $0.02, if you have a 1080p HDTV, wait and see. The price has to come down once Sony makes a decent number of PS3s and works the bugs out of it. If you have a 720p HDTV, get a 360. It's cheaper, you still get a lot of really nice games, and it'll look really pretty on your TV. If you have a SDTV (like me), get a Wii instead. - Sunnyjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, who else? Mr.RichyRich of course.
- fatalfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What kind of loser would pay that lmao
