- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -5/+270Translation: We got sued for the dual shock vibration design.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -14/+278$600 for a vibration-less controller? You've got to be ***** me. For $600 that thing should vibrate my nuts off.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -9/+178no vibration? there goes the female market..
- phore, on 10/12/2007, -7/+159The Wiimote actually does vibrate :)
- nickconfer, on 10/12/2007, -17/+134and so they stole another design. Hopefully they get sued again.
- phore, on 10/12/2007, -12/+125But Sony NEVER lies/steals..
I find it hard to support this company. - soogy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+104They didn't get sued. DIDN'T YOU READ THE ARTICLE? INTERFERENCE! THEY NEVER LIE!!!
I move to rename the PS3 to "Station 3," because so far I don't feel like playing that crap. - TheFoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+78Hmmm, the vibration doesn't seem to interfere with Nintendo's sensors.
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -13/+86^^^ That's the going rate for that service in Mexico.
- Prod1gy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+80Unfortunatly, Sony has just now lost 50% of their female gamers...
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -4/+62Why can't they make it work? The Wiimote has vibration ("force feedback") and it acts like a laser pointer for lightsaber battles. Sony is charging $600 and they can't do either? Then what are they good for?
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55::Board meeting at sony::
CEO: Who has a REALLY bad idea?
Johnson: I DO! Lets rip off everyone and in the process screw up everything we have worked for!
CEO: BRILLIANT! - Virtualtaco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+52Not only does it vibrate, but it fits snugly into your... ummm... cupholder...
Enjoy ladies! - calebdesu, on 10/12/2007, -10/+56Aww that's too bad. I like to put the controllers on my Wii Wii when it rumbles
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -4/+45Translation 2: Wii're going to copy Wii because the other guys that wii copied were big fat meany heads.
The next time Sony steals a design, I hope they steal it and make it BETTER. They stole Dual Shock just fine (But that doesn't matter anymore, does it?), but their Wii imitation was a wii bit sad. Not only is it obvious; it's also a big downgrade from their competitor. - ardellin, on 10/12/2007, -9/+48^digg just for using the term "Wiimote" (first time seen by me, at least)
- DJB31st, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41Would explain why its lighter than a PS2 pad?
- rhino_rampant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/kitaeren/c0bf7b969af1100e7ba316581015.jpg
feelin' pissed too? - Beat_Randall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39Anyone who follows the biz knows that they HAD to get rid of it to avoid being sued again. If I had a choice I'd take their rumble over this sub par motion sensing junk.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37Owned, serves them right. I'm officially sick of sony.
- MrBound, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36"NES didn't need vibration, neither does any other console, as far as I'm personally concerned."
Comparing the NES to next generation consoles is like comparing apples to baby wolverines. - kweee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31This just in: PS3 loses the ability to play videogames.
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Holy *****. This is like watching a train wreck. $600 launch, crippled controller with no significant redesign (gyro doesn't count since it's old tech) and no rumble, $500 version lacks wireless support and HDMI, launch titles are almost exclusively sequels of PS2 games.
And Nintendo will possibly be launching with three RPGs: Zelda, Crystal Chronicles 2, and Dragon Quest Swords.
Oh, damn. This is very, very bad. - rileyjt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Because of the boomerang or the vibrations?
- Royal0rleans, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Is that a question?
- exnor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Voila... damn that sucks.
Screw the rediculous awkward looking motion, I want the rumble back! - Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28It was a run-on statement that wanted to be a question, but it ended up, being like this, and hard to read?
- tobiasproject, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27i'm going to shoot my friend over this!
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Well. That just sucks ass.. Why in the world would you remove one of the controler's best feature? got sued? so what! make your own!
Jesus man.. I for one will not play using a plain old "light" controller. Get a ps2 controller. turn off vibration, it feels DEAD.
Come on sony! - aztekm30, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22First it hurt when they showed the stupid motion gimmick they ripped off the wii from, then it hurt a little more when they announced prices, but now, now i feel like i got kicked in the face.......WTF not vibration??? I can't even FEEL Sony kicking me in the face!!!
- Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22No, the fact that it has absolutely zero innovation makes it less next gen, that and the fact that it is just a ps2 with upgraded hardware.
- Rmplstltskn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Congratulations!! You're unoriginal!
- Warptera, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Wait till I tell the PS3 fanboys at school about this! *evil grin*
- Vineman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20This is going to turn off alot of people who really enjoy the rumble feature such as myself. It gives the game a more "realistic" feeling.
- afreytes, on 10/12/2007, -7/+25At the TrainStation the train stops,
at the BusStation the bus stops,
at the WorkStation the work stops,
err... You figure it out... - Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23I find it preferable to use methods of vibration that won't take your house down.
- Smarterdanu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19That joke was better the first time it was used on this thread.
- tails, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Looks like they're taking a cue from Microsoft, the SideWinder Freestyle Pro sensed motion and came out back in 1998!
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/microsoft_tilt_p/ - dallen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18NES also didn't need 3d graphics or analog controls or shoulder buttons or etc...
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24"Anybody care to list any qualities that makes Wii worth buying over the PS3 (besides the cheapy price and multitudes of monopolized game licences like mario, pokemon, etc...)?"
You're joking, right? The fact that Nintendo lives for the gameplay and the consumer over their machine's numbers and overall power. That's why you freakin' n00b. - chickenlegs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Exactly, the got sued by Immersion, then made an appeal and loss again. How you like being in the other person shoes now Sony?
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That depends on your point of view. I'd even dare to consider this "good". Sony needs a good knock in the head... or a bit lower.
- Royal0rleans, on 10/12/2007, -12/+26No more ps3 controller articles!
- JangoFett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Players will be able to create their own vibration effect due to shivering from the cold as they will be unable to pay the heating bill after buying a PS3.
- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Sony sacrificed one stolen Nintendo idea because it interfered with another... How very unsurprising
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13funny how they try to spin it to look like they intentionally took out the vibration element. Dumbass's
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Your face is supposed to vibrate when it's kicked?
P.S. I agree with your comment... - Myst3r1o, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13lol... see what those idiots get for stealing someone elses "Motion Sensor" ideas? No controller vibration because it interferred with the Motion Sensor.
I hope they get sued straight to hell for what they've done! - duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Hmm, i wonder if sony could make any more horrible decisions today.
- JasonPrini, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12When I first heard of the next gen consols... a few years ago... I really thought Sony would be the leader of this gen of consoles.
And now we have Nintendo making us all excited like it was 1987 all over again.
Funny how things turn out. So far at least... -
