- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe its because EA sucks...of course I see a problem here.
EA owns a 20% stake in UBI and they have a little say in what goes on over there now so this isnt exactly a change. UBI is slowly becoming the next EA meaning they are releasing half ass'd games. I played the Kong demo...which was oddly laced with DRM, yea thats right restrictive DRM in a FREE!!!! demo.
Anyways, it was a decent playing game but it didnt really grab me, i doubt ill be buying it when it comes out. - RAT-Man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He sure is running into some problems. Let his favorite composer go, goes over budget, and over run time with this movie and now this crap.
Hasn't the game always been a UBISOFT game and not a EA game anyway? - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is it just me, or do ALL movie-based games suck? They involve way too many cut scenes, interrupted by poorly thought-out gameplay on rails, just to get you to the next cut scene.
- Chicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So no more EA and Ubisoft is going to be developing the games?
- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Goldeneye for the N64 is the only movie-based video game I can think of that didn't suck. May I even go as far to say as the game was a lot more enjoyable than the movie? Yes, I think I will say that.

Aladdin for Genesis was pretty good... - blogkitten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally, I didn't mind the LOTR: The Third Age game.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"but, but, but... french people suck. How could a game from them be good?"
Splinter Cell Xbox/PC is all i need say on that subject.
Riddick is an incredible game, the xbox version of Riddick rivals Doom 3 on PC in terms of graphics, its only real problem is aliasing. The gameplay is addicting, the sound design is just incredible. If you own an xbox and you havent played Riddick you have issues. Of course this wasnt truly a movie game either, the main charecter was based on a a movie charecter but the story was 100% original in theme and setting.
BG&E is a great game, all the POP games from UBI use the BG&E engine. I dont know why it didnt get more sales, probably bad marketing, i mean it came out and i really had no clue what it was but I heard great things and I saw it the next week for $20! I started playing and couldnt stop.
Goldeneye was an amazing game for its time but honestly it had little to do with the movie so I wouldnt even call that one a movie game. Rare was highly creative and they took some basic themes and charecters and made them shine. - Spaztic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beyond Good and Evil was an fantastic game! I agree with moving from EA to Ubi. A very wise choice!
- hawks5999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jurrasic Park on the SNES was a great game. I hope Kong is close to as good!
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dont blame him. The LOTR games were rushed and sucked. The Beyond good and Evil game was fun as hell and felt like a good movie, a wierd one at that.
- AHIGHERGOD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beyond Good and Evil was a great game.
- ArcaneDevice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it didn't sound like he was displaeased with the games themselves (which I thought were pretty good)just working with EA.
- poobread, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe someone's realizing that pumping out 2-hour long games every week and being a respectable company that makes quality games don't mix.
- canucksin2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BG & E was a good game but prince of persia is still better, but it was built on the BG & E... anyway good for him
- LazyBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good and evil freaking rocked ... to bad there wont be a another one.
- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i saw battle for middle earth 2 at the ign game developers conference last weekend. looked pretty neat, although its still pre-alpha.
- seraphsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beyond Good and Evil was awesome.
- Incognito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw the king kong game @ IGN LIVE. It looked pretty damn good.
I don't blame him for disliking the lord of the rings games. You play for an hour and you've done damn near everything there is to do
"DAMN IT MORE ORCS!" - ScaredCrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually enjoy late night drunken Battle for Middle-Earth games. And Battle for Middle-Earth 2 looks sweet as hell!
- titanass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are you all blind/stupid I played King Kong demo in walmart on my pc and at digital life in nyc and it sucks, graphics are lackluster gameplay is too scripted(like a movie). IMO a horrible game top to bottom I believe EA did a slightly better job on the LOTR games.
- Kriz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I played King Kong at the Digital Life tech show in NYC (Xbox version, there will also be a 360 version[no 360 games were playable there]), and even on the Xbox, its damn pretty. It played quite well, and I await the movie eagerly.
Ubisoft makes some of the best games ever (Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil); good choice there Pete. Just get Kong doon soon so you can get to work on Halo! - Incognito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And lord of the rings never follows the movie script or bombards you with scenes from the movie...
graphics are lackluster on the xbox 360, what were you wearing bear goggles?
Maybe you played some old demo crap, graphics were amazing. - lordsandwich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Batman NES, people. Remember your roots. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0EA SUX
- aggies11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The two LOTR platform games (Two Towers & ROTK) were fantastic. Awesome gameplay (killing orcs was just a pure joy) and you literally would want to be in combat for hours. Not to mention fantastic production values, and excellent movie tie ins.
ROTK refined on something already great, by adding 2player co-op. Going through the game with a buddy as legolas and gimli made it that much better.
They are simply a complete joy to play. THere combat system/engine is what other games should aim for.
Aggies - Deicidus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Scenes from the movie? That can't be good.
Beyond Good & Evil WAS awesome. My favorite game. - jdubya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ubisoft makes my Splinter Cell games, love'em
- Omicron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ya, i thought that was a pretty humurous excuse he gave about liking Beyond Good and Evil. =)
- laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Who cares what Peter Jackson has to say about video games? His opinion on video games matters as much as Bill Gates opinion on fashion.
Plus, I'm gettign sick of directors working on videogames ... because if directors really cared about the art they would have jumped on long before the video game industry became larger than the movie industry. - katakoon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0but, but, but... french people suck. How could a game from them be good?
