- BigHeadOne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Poor story summary, its not that there won't be an expansion, its just not the one mentioned on Gamestop and they're not yet ready to announce one. Its no news at all really, just dispelling a rumor.
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14"It probably means they've finally understood that people want to play those games online. In my opinion, I hope they are working on an MMORPG."
That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. People love Oblivion because of it's depth. I don't want TES to become an MMO. Hopefully this MMO fad goes away soon. - duzins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It would be utterly ridiculous not to release an expansion at some point. We've all leveled up and created great characters that just sit on the 360/PC. I'd love to see a king return or some blood-line story that would really add to the story, rather than another download like the Mehrunes Razor, Assassin's Lair or the Pirates Cove.
- Dufresne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"While we have no doubt there will eventually be an expansion, Bethesda is far from ready to announce it."
Misleading title. - gronne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9That's really unfortunate.
- ActiveMatx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would like a expansion, but more like a upgrade. Instead of adding more content, and weapons etc, just improve upon the AI.
Make it much more advanced, and like how you presented it before the games release. Make people say much more things, and have more of a "RPG" style of gaming towards it. make your decisions that you make in the game, affect how people react to you, and actually make it seem like you are changing the way people see you, how you look, by the quests and decisions you make in the game. - davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'd love them to release a game that doesn't hold your hand through the process of making you into a demigod. Or maybe even a game that doesn't allow you to become so ridiculously powerful.
Put some real choices. - drapelyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4it's about time someone made an in depth game like Elder Scrolls with a multi-player element... maybe MMORPG was a little strong
- Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Though I suppose it's "news" that they aren't currently planning any Oblivion expansions."
But that's not what he said. He said "Right now we have no *announced* plans for any new content."
Which is exactly what we already knew. So he's indeed saying nothing. Neither that they aren't planning any expansions, nor that they are. Merely that they haven't *announced* that they have or haven't. Which is nothing. - Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yet another reason Morrowind was their final true RPG game.
Morrowind features giant bugs with a dozen legs that is domesticated via hollowing out a part of its upper shell and used as a mass transit system via using the nerve endings found when hollowing out its shell. Oblivion had... horses. Morrowind had people who killed bugs and hollowed out their shells to use as homes. Oblivion had... Brick and mortar buildings. Morrowind had armor made of dead bug shells and skins. Oblivion had... Steel and other metal armors.
Morrowind was a truly foreign land with foreign people and foreign laws and customs. Oblivion was a Rennaissance version of England with a slightly modified Chrisian Church and magic. Both were great, but at the end of the day the former is more imaginative and exciting than the latter in terms of replayability but also in creative game content possibilities.
I can only really look forward to fan made Morrowind/Vvardenfell mods to satisfy that love of the game (or give in to the crasy original.) Bethesda has lost it in my opinion. - davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Design document for Fallout 3:

Not everyones first language is English. Try not to look like such an ass.
Anyway, I don't see the big deal with this. He's just saying that they aren't developing one right now. There could still be one in the future. - ozz109, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Hopefully there too busy with Fallout 3.
- Bakkhai42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I see some wiggle room in what he said... "Right now we have no announced plans for any new content." I mean what does that mean, seriously... nothing.. They haven't told us of what they're developing...
- BT-Wang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I want the next elder scrolls game to take place in akavir, in a different time, something with different races and culture, like morrowind but more extreme.
oblivion was too like morrowind, the urban setting didn't do anything for me at all, there was no real exploration, it felt like the tribunal expansion for morrowind, and if you bothered doing any exploration, there wasn't anything kickass to find, like a ruined city full of loot or an elven tree village. just randomly generated oblivion gates, *****. the gameplay regressed to somewhere between daggerfall and morrowind, oblivion was good, but should have been better. - Splizxer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good, that frees up some time to work on Fallout 3.
- Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Fallout 3. Same team, same studio. Either that or Oblivion downloadable content, or both.
- drjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There will be an expansion. They just havn't announced the freakin' name.
- goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think mainly because they are working very hard on Fallout 3. It is very important they don't ruin the game. Fallout fans for many years have been waiting for a new game but have been abandon several times. There is still a very large community for Fallout and Bethesda promises it will not disgrace the game and will try very hard on making Fallout 3 everything it should be. I'm an old school gamer so I'm not so surprised if you haven't heard of Fallout. Cant wait 'til 2008!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm really hoping for some cool downloadable content, then. How about the ability to get bitten and turn into a werewolf like the Morrowind expansion let you?
- OutofExile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Right now we have no announced plans for any new content, add-ons, or expansions. If that changes, we’ll let folks know."
That's a total non-answer. We already knew that. "We have no *announced* plans for any new content, add-ons, or expansions." That totally doesn't mean "We have no plans." It just means they don't have any that they've announced, which is rather obvious.
That was a White House Press Secretary moment if you ask me. They're probably working on an expansion but aren't ready to say anything about it. - Blackfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The content that's coming out for the 360 is nice and all, but doesn't do us who have finished the game much good. Sure we can restart, but I wouldn't mind a 10 hour or so true "Expansion".
- Brereton55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1guys lol hes not just gonna say whoops you got us! yeah its coming out now here is all of are company secrets!
- oblivionfanatic, on 08/10/2008, -0/+0guys thats untrue about we have guys just sitting there with awsome *****. that may be true ina way but at some point a game WILL end. mayb they r making an expansion mayb their not. nobody knows but we will find out . *(IN THE UPCOMING DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!*)
- greedycheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They are certainly working on something. Whether its an expansion or a new standalone sequal on the same engine.
- Drakh, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Correctamundo. Though I suppose it's "news" that they aren't currently planning any Oblivion expansions. I mean, yay for the mod community and all, but come on Bethesda... surely you can package up a bunch of $3 addons and make an interesting quest line out of it?
- babayada, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Frankly, it's just been one disappointment after another for me with Oblivion.
The game was a huge disappointment. Bethsoft's mods for Oblivion are pathetic.
If they decided to make no expansions, it wouldn't surprise me. The life of the game is dependent upon the mod community, really, and they haven't been doing very much to support them. It's sad. - babayada, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I totally agree.
The features that were supposed to blow us away didn't. The graphics are a little better, that's all. But the game is marred with bad design decisions, and a lot of the things that were wrong with Morrowind continue to be wrong with Oblivion.
Bethsoft really, really screwed up bad. It's a shame. So many wasted man hours, so much creativity brought nowhere because of bad design decisions.... - davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I have no hope for Fallout 3.
After seeing the Elder Scrolls series gradually go straight to hell, I have no reason to. - volksport, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3boooo
- davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Thank christ.
- Bobski, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2"I would like a expansion, but more like a upgrade. "
How about a education? - bwesterman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Who cares? This game is boring. No mulitiplayer, yuck.
- drapelyk, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2It probably means they've finally understood that people want to play those games online. In my opinion, I hope they are working on an MMORPG.
