"I was recently shown an article from your station about pedophiles and video games. I was extremely disturbed by the article. I was not disturbed because of the content of it (although the thought of pedophiles having easy access to our children online is always frightening), but rather because of the blatant lies and manufactured "facts" provided in the article by your "news[sic] reporter".
One such example was the statement that pedophiles used games like Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Halo 3 to trade naked photos of children for in-game points.
The main issue with this statement? None of those games even have an in-game point system where users can "award" points to one another. It is not physically included in the games at all. So a statement saying otherwise would be completely fictitious and with NO credible worth as it isn't true. In other words, it would be complete and utter *****.
What is worse then the blatant lies provided by your reporter is the fact that your station allowed this piece to make it to publication. You'd think if you credited yourself as a real news provider, you'd be sure to fact check your publications to be sure things like this did not fall through the cracks.
I do hope that you will look into this further and discipline your "reporter" properly (and no, a slap on the wrist will not please those you have upset with this). Fictitious work like this hurts the image of the entire staff and questions the quality and professionalism of your station. If an article like this is fabricated, what else may your employees be making up?
I do hope that some action is taken on this and a public apology and correction is made. Hopefully one that at the very least openly admits that the reporter was wrong in his actions.

The journalist had to research every topic in detail, to the point that they'd often know almost as much as the experts for each story -- and they'd be learning a new topic each week, or even each day for some journalists. Now it seems they either just make it up or copy the talking points of the experts they interview, who should ALWAYS be considered potentially biased towards one side of the story. This story is wrong on so many levels, and the companies that make the video games mentioned should consider a lawsuit. It would have taken so little effort to uncover the BS in this story.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Stupid reporters who are apparently offering ***** opinions in exchange for public outcry, through Internet-connected idiots have prompted a warning for tech illiterates.
"Reporters are making ***** up, and they are being asked to make even more ridiculous claims in order to get viewer points," Florida Attorney General Cybercrime Detective Lt. David Maurer said. "There is not only the internet version of the lies but also a broadcast involved."
