- unloud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73. . . so says the man with the mostly pink avatar.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+47Great news. I can now get a system that emulates NES/SNES/GBA/PS1 games with 2GB memory for under 200 bucks! Plus all the other amazing features!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -35/+69And with your 2 hour battery life you can enjoy them all!
- ladyarcher85, on 10/12/2007, -6/+40Any problem with that?!? *taps foot* lol
- ryanknapper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37The PSP sucks, but you have owned several? Where do you live where people seem to throw these things at you?
- mattmoto, on 10/12/2007, -12/+43Before people run in and cry "OMG, no good games", let me say this:
Lumines, Wipeout, Tekken, Ridge Racer, GTA LCS, Syphon Filter, Daxter, MGS PO, Burnout Legends, Rachet and Clank, Virtua Tennis, Loco Roco, Pirates!, Mega Man Powered Up, SOCOM, SOCOM 2, Outrun, Lumines 2, GTA VCS, Gitaroo Man Lives, The Warriors, Maverick Hunter X, MGA, MGA2, Gurumin, Smackdown 07, Twisted Metal, Killzone, Field Commander, Mercury, Burnout Dominator, Ace Combat X, Lemmings, EEE, Pursuit Force, Katamari, Chili Con Carnage, Powerstone, Infected, Medal of Honor, CoD3, and plenty more!
Plus, don't get me started on all the options homebrew opens up. But, if you do consider games run using homebrew to be"PSP Games", than tack on your favorite SNES, NES, GBA, Genesis, and other classic console games. - R3Dirkulous, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31cant we enjoy both the Ds and psp? lol im so gonna get dugg down for that one
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -14/+42@Lyph4
2 hour battery? I get 9 hours from a full charge. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -20/+48Yeah, like they have only sold TWENTY ONE MILLION now.
- Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31You forgot every psx game ever.
- razorsharp, on 10/12/2007, -12/+36Yeah, the PSP is about to outsell the GameCube (at a much higher price point) in half the time the 'Cube was on the market, but the PSP is a failure. . . I love Nintendo, but the fanboys need to get a grip on reality. Just because the PSP isn't selling like the DS doesn't mean it's a failure, just like the 'Cube not selling like the PS2 didn't make it a failure. Why do there have to be winners and losers in business? The market is big enough for winners and winners.
- ibeetle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26@ Lyph4
Try again. Better battery management with the OS and a better battery now has the PSP running 6-8 hour battery life.
It was only first generation batteries with early PSP Operating System that had the 2-4 hour battery life. Sony has doubled that. - bbdude, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25But... it's... pink....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20"Emulation is greater on the DS than the PSP. "
You sir, are retarded.
Emulation is greater on PSP, it's more powerful (can emulate more systems, and every system it emulates it does it better) and a bigger screen (it can fit larger resolutions, where on DS games would have to be scalled down to fit the lower res screens) - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22@Spyro,
You do realize that the PSP Homebrew community has had Scummv for well over a year now... in addition to emulation of virtually every console and some PC games before the debut of the Dreamcast?
In my opinion I love both my DS and my PSP. Both are fantastic. I think the PSP is better as a wifi diagnostic tool, ebook reader, comic book reader, and mp3 player, while the DS simply has games that are generally more entertaining for short term play, perfect for my daily and lengthy NYC subway commute. - mattmoto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17"And with your 2 hour battery life you can enjoy them all!"
Uh, I get 7 hours on mine.... I haven't even upgraded to the "Stamina" battery Sony released.
"and then watch some over priced movies!"
Or, you could RIP DVDs, convert torrents, or join the multitude of active PSP movie sharing sites.
@Elranzor
Uh, I am speechless. I realise there is nothing I can say to convince you to be less biased, you have fallen into a realm of deep fanboyism. Metal Gear Solid not worth buying?!?! It has an awesome freeform singleplayer campaign, fantastic plot, and incredible online play! Loco Roco not worth buying? It's a fantastic game like none other! I have a feeling you havn't even heard of most of those games...
You declare some things ports, which are PSP exlusives, like: Syphon Filter, MoH, CoD3, Twisted Metal, and more. Great job showing your ignorance... - DollaDollaBill, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20what are you an idiot? worst handheld ever? Its the only handheld thats been able to hold its own against Nintendo.
- Retuow, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23I own a PSP, have 8 games, one of them is Midnight Club III. That's the only game where loadtimes are really an issue.
Think of GTA. I am driving through whole Vice City without any loading (ok, the two second load when driving from one island to the other). Same goes for the rest of my games. Seriously, loading isn't PSP's problem. I can't imagine a cooler gaming device than my PSP.. - john2kx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16the PSP is probably my favorite handheld ever, and I've never even brought a UMD anywhere near it.. Give me a 4GB memory stick and i'm good to go! :D
Also, Gran Turismo is the worst reason to emulate PS1 on PSP.. it simply hasn't aged well at all.. Try R-Type Delta, FF Tactics, Tenchu, Castlevania:SOTN, ONE, Strider 2, and more that I can't remember right now.. - AntBing, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19$169 is getting closer to the price I'll pay. It still needs to come down a bit because I want the 2GB stick for it too.
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Um, he didn't say it was better, he explained to you (the retard) why it was priced the way it was. It's common sense why it's that much, and for what you get it's not overpriced.
Now maybe YOU PERSONALLY prefer the DS, but that doesn't make the PSP overpriced, and he never said either system was better. Shut your retard fanboy mouth for once and think. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23"Why is $30 news?"
Why is every ***** insignificant game that Nintendo adds to the VC news? - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Step 1. Dump game to memory stick.
Step 2. Enjoy fast loads and long battery life.
Step 3. Ignore the trolls (well, pay attention enough to laugh about them).
UMD's should be considered the install medium. When I buy a game, I dump it to MS and put the UMD safely away somewhere. - silverwolfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It's actually not a store specific price drop. Sony is dropping the price everywhere.
http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/04/03/sony-makes-price-drop-official-adds-daxter-and-syphon-filter-to/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Your mom?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You're retarded.
PSP is worth more because it uses more advanced technology. A bigger, higher res screen, more power processors. FFS, PSPs SOUND CHIP is more powerful than the DS. The optical drive. - directive0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It really amusing to read all the arguing, but I truly don't understand it. If somebody wants a PSP this price drop is great news. Personally I own a DS, but I think the PSP is a pretty rad handheld. Whats wrong with having MORE gadgets? If I could afford another handheld I'd jump on this. It fills a different niche and has some serious strengths that the DS could never touch. Whats with this need for everyone to compare one device to another, even when they really aren't comparable?
Don't listen to the rabbling here on digg, make your own informed decision. Go check one out in person. If its not for you then don't buy it, but don't judge someone because of how they decided to spend their money. As consumers we should be happy that the options are out there for us to choose the system that fits our needs best. Everyone complains about how everyone uses iPods, but here we are trying to suggest you should only have either a PSP or a DS, its not one or the other! - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13You lack cohesive thought.
Why are you complaining about the PSP when it comes to FPS, when in fact you should be complaining about the entire handheld console history when it comes to FPS's in the first place. - ibeetle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Why is $0.30 news? The music industry, tech world, and just about everybody else went bat crap crazy yesterday over Apple and EMI's announcement about hight quality music for 30 cents (per song) more.
Any price drop is news. If Sony announced a .01 drop in the PS3, or if Nintendo said that there would be a .99 drop in the Wii 12 submissions would be on the front page of Digg for a week. As will this news regarding the PSP. - jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Personally I love my PSP. I take it to my friends parties to show them my latest pics, for business trips it makes a good mp3 player in my hotel room, of course I also use it for gaming when I don't feel like sitting in front of the TV, and I even use it to surf the web and read the news occasionally.
I love the screen on the PSP it's amazing. I think the one thing that would help the PSP do better is if they released more original games for it. These developers love to port their console titles to the PSP because it's easy to do, but what they don't realize is a good console experience doesn't make a good portable experience. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Well I Dugg you up (for what it's worth), only sensible thing anyone has said all day.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11No. Its entirely dependent on the programming. Some early games didn't know what they were doing and took forever to load such as Midnight Club (which was resolved the instant you played the game off iso on your memory stick, at which point everything loads nearly instantly). But I don't know any friends that happen to be Digg users actually using the UMD and not the memory stick.
And besides, if you know what you're doing, you will be using the memory stick exclusively. - Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I wouldn't mind eating your lunch dude
I'm happy with a $3 lunch... - ipodsweatshop, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Commercial failure as far as game sales and titles maybe, but as a portable emulator platform it's the best hands down. I mean, what else allows you to play PSX/SNES/NES/N64/Genesis/MAME games on the go? Along with MP3 and video playback. And that beautiful screen....
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14It's not like memory cards are that pricey anymore.
- fxspec06, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11He didn't say it was better. He just said it was worth more. RTFC
- NotEvenClose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Same deal at Bestbuy and Circuit City.

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-PlayStation-Portable-PSP/sem/rpsm/oid/148817/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do - henrythehorse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Most under-rated electronic ever released.
- TheProtested, on 10/12/2007, -21/+29and then watch some over priced movies!
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Err Many PSP Movies have dropped to $9.99 a piece.
And no, the PSP does not have a 5 minute battery life. We are talking about a portable "PS1.5". In a sense the PSP has better graphics than even the PS2 because it sports a taller and wider screen. It literally has double the resolution of the PS2 but the textures are not as sharp. But this technology originated from 2001. That was half a decade ago. Its not surprising that we now have a portable version of that. - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15Its a start, but $30 for a $200 handheld thats been out for 2 years is just too little a price drop. At least a $50 drop if not more...
- Chinzon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Dugg up for Monkey Island reference.
- penguinshome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I like my PSP. I got mine for $150 with a bunch of games from one of my friends. (He's a bit strange. Really this Dud bought a new DS because he wanted a shiny black one and the one he had was matte) I mostly use it as an mp3 player, but It is fun to be able to pull it out and play games or watch a movie when I'm on a trip or something. The battery life is more than I really expect of the thing too. I think I've only drained the battery 3 times.
- cargreenwood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Give your PSP some Homebrew/Emulation Loving
The full speed PSX Emulator for PSP is awesome
Heres a guide for newbs http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47121 - porcupus, on 10/12/2007, -13/+19load times. most people play handhelds on the go. 2 minute load times per level of Syphon Filter is atrocious.
This system has nice graphics and some good games, but if you can't play them on your bus ride it defeats the idea of on the go gaming.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaFuStoGTQ4 - disc0x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I'd like the Pink PSP. It's pretty
- rmw132, on 10/12/2007, -33/+39Too little, too late.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7... and I've got a little TIP for you! Get the POINT?
- metalrock76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You dont know what you're talking about. Maybe the game required a firmware update.. but that wouldn't drain the battery.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"Nice vid porcupus. Don't know why you're being dugg down as it illustrates your point clearly enough."
Because it's misleading. It's like using the new Sonic game as proof 360 has horrible load times.
Those are the ONLY games that load so badly. EVERY other game on the system doesn't have it nearly that bad.
In short, he's being dugg down for being a lying fanboy jackass. -
