Not only is the PS3 a much more sophisticated and modern piece of engineering, but it's also a very high quality piece of engineering. The 360 on the other hand is one of largest technological blunders ever to meet the gaming world. 30% failure rates, loud obnoxious fans, loud obnoxious last gen DVD drives, no wifi, and the list goes on. The 360 has some wonderful games on it, and I am not disparaging the quality of work that's gone into making games for the system, but the system itself is a piece of garbage.

That I have to have a cord connecting my router to my 360 when my Wii, DS, and PSP are connecting wirelessly... thats kinda crazy. I mean Microsoft.. the computer company... doesnt have a feature handhelds even have? Also who the hell has a computer 10 feet from their 360?!?!!? I had to buy a 25 foot cord for $25 bucks.... but hey thats cheaper then the wifi adapter by far.
        
        But still, it was definitely worth it, Live kicks ass... it should be free and connection should be wifi out of box... but it still kicks ass.
        
        But based on games... 360 blows PS3 out of the water.

And what does a video game console supposed to do? Play video games and give you entertainment, and that is exactly what the 360 does, and to a larger extent. I play online with my friends and use it as a media hub, but all in all it has great video games and that is all that matters. Some people need to start looking at the good it does, not the few problems that people blow out of proportion.

As for the horrible lag comment it may be the case with some PS3 games but with others i have access to dedicated servers where lag is non-existent, whereas you are constantly on P2P and host = advantage.

Paroparo, on 01/28/2008, -8/+8The 360 in the lead by around 1.5 million, and the PS3 is catching up at a rate of about 10-20k per week. The PS3 has a good chance of passing its competitor, but there's no way it's happening before the holidays at the very earliest. Probably next year.

Don't forget the 360 has a 50-100€ price cut on the way, while there's no way Sony's going to be able to pull another before 2009.

  Not an accurate source. According to the interview he says PS3 has 5 million PS3s out and thats what he is basing his assumptions on. According to vgchartz there are about 3.90 million PS3s in "others" which includes more than Europe..

I'm not farmiliar with the situation in europe, but in the states there's plenty of electronics stores with literally dozens of sad looking ps3 boxes wishing for a home.

EDmAN, on 01/28/2008, -1/+7It is January, if the PS3 is out selling the 360 by 10-20K a week in January it will gradually increase to 40-60 and then 80-100 as the year goes on. It's the ratio that should be looked at not the actually totals because January is the worst month for these kind of sales.. As long as some of the PS3 titles actually hold up to what they are supposed to be this year, things will be much different for the PS3. MGS4, FFXIII and many other titles are still strong enough to revive the PS3...

If you look at the weekly charts, the Xbox360 and PS3 are pretty much tied. Some weeks PS3 is ahead of 360, and some weeks 360 is ahead of PS3 (And pretty much every week Wii is way ahead of them both.)
  
  I know this is a worldwide chart and vgchartz has a margin of error of ~5%, I'm just saying you can't predict long term sales on just two weeks of data.
